  1. The Five Year Engagement

Saw this last night at the pictures. Another romantic comedy from the people who brought you Forgetting Sarah Marshall/Knocked Up etc. It was pretty dull and generic. It was almost as if the writers had signed a three film deal while only having enough ideas for two of them. The basic premise is that the two main characters get engaged at the start and the entire film is about how things keep getting in the way of them setting a wedding date. There were a couple of funny moments but not enough to sustain a 2hr film and the plot and script seemed contrived and tired. Altogether I was pretty disappointed.

    5/10

  2. Random bint: is single

Random bint: is in a complicated relationship

    Random bint: is married

    Random bint: is single

I wouldn't be surprised if we both had the same random bint as a mutual "friend". I would have deleted mine a long time ago if it didn't make give me a laugh every so often.

  3. I don't quite understand the annoyance people feel with Sky over this situation. From a business perspective (and Sky are a profiteering company, not a charity), they have paid comparatively little to the Scottish game and still ended up with a schedule filler every week. Why should they pay more than they have to?

Perhaps people's ire should be more directed to the BBC considering the disparity in money being paid to the EPL/SPL for highlights.

  4. Except that they didn't - it was circa 3000 and was inflated by the police to 5000 to justify their numbers getting a cushy overtime slot. The orcsand their pals in the press in turn decided to "round it up" to 10 000!

    Succulent lamb anyone?

I can promise you not one cop got paid overtime for that. Instead, they were drafted in from all over the city, leaving some parts of Glasgow with the bare minimum of cover while ra peepul had their futile day in the sun.

  5. Sigh. I moved to Stirling at 17, should I have supported Stirling Albion instead? What diddy fan actually does that? Moves house and then decides to support a new team and ditch the old one?

So you're actually of an age to see how much of a vile institution your club has become. All the fines, the fan trouble, the bigotry, the racism the exclusionary signing policy....and you're still proud to associate yourself with all that. Because THAT is what makes Rangers what it is. A beacon to the bigots.

A really decent person would have renounced all that in disgust. But you evidently haven't.

  6. You could choose to give up your German citizenship. Nobody is forcing them to stay in Germany, just because their parents were born there and were raised there. You see how ludicrous it is? As I said, there are many decent OF fans out there.

Undoubtedly there are, although they are strangely silent when their fellow fans actions are called into question.

Poor behaviour by OF supporters seems to be carried out by a sizeable majority and silently condoned by everyone else in their ranks.

  7. There crimes were not 2nd only to match fixing

They should be fined..and they were. They should be punished but our greatest punishment was having SDM and Whyte owning the club. The shame they have brought upon us will take a lifetime to get over. We as fans are not totally blameless as we maybe should have asked more questions but at the end of the day you expect those in charge to at the very least to act within the law and pay the taxman

Do you think they should be thrown out the game because the Chairman robbed the taxman? I wonder if you would think any other club would deserve to be thrown out of the game for such an offence...I seriously doubt it.

I would think most supporters would have sympathy with any other club who had suffered from such gross mismanagement. It will take the club years to recover from this shambles if they ever do.

Actual lol. So your shame is the equivalent to your long years of cheating? It may have been on the instruction of a few, but your club and its fans benefited for two decades, depriving other clubs of legitimate chances of competing and forcing many others to spend money on 2nd rate foreigners in desperate attempts to play catch-up.

Where was your shame when your fellow bears went on the rampage in Manchester?

Where was your shame when your club was repeatedly fined for sectarian chants?

Where was your shame when your club refused to sign a Catholic for 100 years?

You have no shame, because if you did, you wouldn't support such a vile institution. You wouldn't support a club which proudly stands for exclusion, bigotry and racism. Your supporters groups bleat about bigoted singing as being the acts of a minority, but where has the criticism been from the majority? Conspicuously absent, because it is the case, as everyone else knows, that such singing is condoned by EVERYONE in the Ibrox ranks, no matter their age, gender or upbringing.

And still, after all the fines, after all the cheating, the singing and the fraudulent schemes, you still fail to show a semblance of dignity, or of guilt. Not a single Rangers fan can provide a genuine reason as to why your stinking carcass of a club should be saved.

You don't understand why your club is so despised by the supporters of others. You can't understand why someone would choose to support their local team over the famous Glasgow Rangers.

You cheated your way to title after title, trophy after trophy, award after award. And you want us to think the club has suffered enough because of the "shame?"

You are right on one thing though - I probably would feel pity for any other club in similar circumstances. But your club is a vile, racist and bigoted organisation, a stain on society and a cause of division and violence for many.

    You won't be missed.

  8. Thanks. I would be using it once or twice weekly, going about 10 - 15 miles each time. It's purely for leisure as I live too far away from work to cycle.

It would mainly be cycle paths/roads but I would like the chance to do a bit of off roading.

  9. Distances from Celtic Park:

    Shawfield - 1.6m

    Cathkin Park - 3.3m

    Hampden - 3.6m

    Firhill - 4.3m

    Ibrox - 4.6m

I'm not sure in what world that Rangers were ever your "closest neighbours".

Seems fairly obvious that if how close they are had anything to do with your rivalry that Celtic's biggest rivals should always have been Clyde. Or perhaps Third Lanark or Queens Park? Even Thistle should have been considered before Rangers.

Is it possibly less to do with distance and more to do with the fact that Rangers were the only club willing to take the opposite side of some archaic, poisonous divide? That they were willing to get in bed with Celtic to exploit sectarian bigotry in the city which should have died out years ago?

    Good points, well played.

  10. Hybrid sounds like your best bet.

Relatively lightweight with no unnecessary suspension that only weighs the bike down and requires maintenance.

Ridgeback make very well specced and good value hybrids (you can pick up something decent from around £250), though most brands produce them.

It makes sense to get a bike that has mounts for mudguards, and possibly a pannier rack.

If you're new to cycling, one of the most important things to consider is getting the correct frame size. For this reason, you'd be well advised to visit a coupleo f bike shops and take some advice from the folks who work there. Have a sit on a few bikes and get a feel for them. You can always swap/upgrade saddle and tyres etc., but if your frame isn't the right size for you, you're buggered.

Steer clear of shops selling BSOs (bike shaped objects) such as Sports Direct. These bikes are generally shit, and weigh as much as a small country.

If you see something you fancy, tell us about it and we'll no doubt regale you with ill-infomed views on whether its any use :P

Thanks for that. I have a couple of bike shops nearby so will take a look when I have time and see what you guys think. It's jst a pity I can't cycle to work.

  11. People who use "Yasss" in response to something.

Normally used when someone likes to tell the world their intentions on a night out, or share their luck in the gambling world.

    "Yassss coupon up again, BOOM!!!"

"Gonna get on it like a car bonnet the nite, yaaaaasss!!!"

  12. How's it going.

Been looking to buy a bike for a while now and I'm a bit stuck as to what to go for. I'm a bit confused as to what kind of bike would suit my needs best - I keep hearing about road bikes, hybrids and mountain bikes but everyone seems to have different opinions as to what's best.

I'd be cycling for maybe 5 - 10 miles once or twice a week, bit of road cycling, bit of cycle paths. I don't anticipate going off road too often but can't rule it out as I have a few places nearby which are pretty good for getting on the dirt. I'd also be looking to get my fiance a bike, although she wouldn't be using it as often as me and wouldn't be going off road at all.

Just wondering what you guys think would suit me and how much you would spend on a bike in that case? Cheers!
