  1. First run in a week after injuring my back lifting weights at the gym last Thursday. Managed to plod round 5 miles without any discomfort so looking forward to a small run tomorrow and a longer one on Sunday.

Managed to lose my iPod during the week so wasn't looking forward to running without it but I actually found it better/more enjoyable, anyone else found the same?

  2. 299 seems a tall order for me. Tremendous bowling from Ryan Harris again though, theres a decent team between the two teams out there!

Disappointing from Matt Prior again with the bat though, he's another that needs some criticism.

  3. I think England will win this one if they manage to get another 80 to their overnight total. The bowlers, particularly Swann, will have fun on the last day. Fortunately Ian Bell has saved England again but that can't hide the fact that there are too many players not contributing enough this series and if it wasn't for Australia being so ordinary they would have lost this series. Players like Bairstow, Bresnan and perhaps even Trott should be in danger of being dropped for the next test.

  4. AFAIK, McNab is a defender, Hogg is a defender/midfielder, Blair is a winger and the other 3 are forwards.

Conor Hogg and Robbie McNab are attacking midfielders and often play on the wing, Ryan Blair plays centre midfield, Scott Shepherd and Botti Biabi are strikers and Michael Martin plays centrally in an attacking role.

  5. I recently ran the Edinburgh 10k and having signed up for a few more runs, i've noticed my motivation is so much higher when i've got something to work towards. Before there was no real purpose to going to the gym/for a run other than getting a bit fitter I would get quite bored with the routine and would take a day off which would then turn into 2, then 3 then 4 and so on. Having a marathon in the summer, with 3 or 4 smaller races in between then is keeping up the motivation just now.

  6. This may seem a stupid question but I genuinly don't know the rule regarding this...

If a Player-Manager is sent to the stands and recieves some kind of touchline ban, is he then allowed to play for the team?

I remember watching the Pars up at Dens Park a few years ago. Alex Rae was midway through something like a 6 match touchline ban but named himself as a sub, allowing him to be involved on the touchline. He lost the plot and was sent to the stands again, resulting in the SFA throwing the book at him!

  7. I managed to run the Edinburgh 10k in 1.07, pretty pleased as I could barely run the length of myself two months ago. That hill from 7.5ish to 8.5 felt like it was a hundred miles, legs feeling it now!

Think i've got the running bug now, can't wait to get back out again!

  8. One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes

My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. " They really should get lives. " He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and handed me half the books. Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship. Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak

Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him. Boy, sometimes I was jealous! Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. " Thanks," he said. As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began "Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends... I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story." I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met.

He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. "Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable." I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it's depth. Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse. God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others.

Who comes up with this shite?

  9. Single mum, and dumped girls annoy me more than anyone else on my facebook, every other post is something about how men are arsehole etc.......

EDIT: also people who "like" pictures of deformed kids with some shite slogan about being beautiful on the inside, I really dont need to see that on my newsfeed during my lunch

These clowns are the worst by far. A girl I know recently split up with her boyfriend and Dad to her daughter. Some of the shite she puts up is incredible.

  10. Currently training for the Edinburgh 10k in a couple of weeks. Its going well enough and i'm feeling ok, however i've started to have some discomfort on the ball of my right foot. Is this a normal running thing? Nothing major and I can run through it but obviously not ideal.

(My footwear are proper running shoes and were measured in shop so shouldn't be that)

  11. You have to give the club some credit (whether that's Elvis or someone else) for having spotted him in the first place though.

From what I've heard(and it may be completely bullshit) was it not a case of Farid asking Pressley for a trial and Pressley just getting a tad lucky?

Worked out well in the end mind you.

Falkirk were bringing in another foreign player on trial but he got offered the opportunity to sign a contract at another club and took it. He (or his agent) suggested he took a look at Farid and the rest is history.

  12. I've also been on a bit of a health kick. I've been a member of a gym for 4 years and went through phases where I would go a lot for a month or so and then spend the next 6 months doing f**k all. Joined a new gym which has better facilities and give you a personalised training plan to follow. I (drunkenly) signed up for the Edinburgh marathon which takes place in May and i'm doing a 10k race in Edinburgh next month so I have something to work towards whch is probably why the motivation is still strong.

I could barely run 10 minutes a month or so ago and today I completed 5k. Not particularly impressive but I suppose it is all relative to individual fitness levels. Going to do 6k tomorrow which will be the longest i've ran. Sounds fucking pathetic reading that!

As for diet, I tend to eat quite healthily but probably let myself down when it comes to portion sizes. Its like being in America when i'm on the cooking.

  13. I finally got stuck in to some Sevco supporter

      • 373682_301676779883410_569968010_q.jpgScottish First Division in FIFA I equally dislike both sides of the Old Firm so I love Thistle more than I hate Rangers. I think it's just pretty funny seeing a team that used to do so well, collapse in the way Rangers did- and the fact that they just escaped defeat to Berwick only adds to the hilarity.7 hours ago · Like

      • Me - Says the supporter of a team that for the past century has won everything in the top flight of Scottish Football, supporting Rangers is an easy decision, watching your team win every game and play in Europe. It's easy supporting a team that lots of people support and it's to join your pals and sing your racist songs and have a in depth knowledge in Irish history. Try supporting a diddy team and having people like you asking "aye but who is your Big team?" Putting up with mediocrity and coming back is loyalty like little other and I doubt for second that you would still go and watch your "team" if The Rangers had to play a few seasons in Division 3.
