  1. Jon leaving is down to being released by the manager. He is pretty gutted due to absolutely loving his time at Alloa but that’s what happens in football. In fairness to Brian Rice I think the fact that Jon misses training sessions due to his shifts have played a part in his decision.Probably the same with Durnan.Jon trains religiously on his own so no fitness problems but missing shape and tactic sessions have probably caught up with him. It’s the managers head on the chopping block if it goes wrong and he has to make decisions where we deal in opinions. All the best to everyone at Alloa and to all the supporters who made Jon’s time there so special.

  2. Sometimes I wonder if cowden fans internet history has more alloa in it than mines forever on our threads...

Nothing to do with us being rivals for the same position in recent times. You wouldn,t see QOS fans on a Falkirk thread or vice versa,or would you.FWIW i want Alloa to stay up again, just through the playoffs this time.
  3. The Pars and Morton will remain full time and will be 1st and 2nd in league one next year.Full time does make a massive difference, not so much in general physical fitness as loads of part time players do extra on their own,but in the time you have to work on the way you want to play.Time to work on set pieces, alternative systems for when plan A isn,t working are a huge advantage. If you are not seeing that from you,re team it says more about you,re management set up than anything else.Rehab from injury is another major plus for full timers, not having to do an outside job when injured.Full time wages outside the big clubs are no longer any more than the working guy in the stands other than the odd daft exception eg Garry O,Connor. The Michael Moffat 700 quid a week thing is probably nonsense but if its not its mental. Those wages would get you 80% of Cowden,Alloa or Dumbartons, players signing for you in a heartbeat.

  4. If we have such a good team, how many Queens players, on current form, would make the starting line-up of any other teams in the league? Possibly Russell, and Holt, and Kevin D when fully fit. Player for player, every other team has someone better in that position than Queens have, so it is possible that the team is not as good as some people think, hence the current position.

Would take Russell in a heartbeat.

  5. Scott Linton is a centre mid who we played mainly at left mid/left back due to him being left footed. When we won at the rock midweek in the second division due to injuries he played right back and was brilliant due to him being really two footed. He also has an amazing long throw in his armoury with a lack of pace being his only real weakness. If sending him out on loan was an option then you have the best squad in the division.

  6. Scott joined as an 18 year old centre mid but was moved left, curse of the left footer.Has mainly played left back, left mid.Cracking left foot with right not far behind.Good in the air and strong in the challenge.Big long throw also.If he was quick he wouldn,t be in this league. We will miss him.

  7. I like Dumbarton and was really impressed by you,re second half of the season but you always seem to be unimpressed by you,re signings.Scott will be a great signing for you and wont be back up to anybody. Two great feet and with an extra turn of pace would be nowhere near this league.Top lad also.

  8. For me the biggest hurdle to overcome for part time teams isn,t general fitness. In the modern world loads of part time players do extra on their own time anyway. Its the organisation and team shape and tactics where you cant put the same time in.Re-hab of injuries is much more difficult for part time players when they still have to work when carrying knocks.

  9. Scottish football is corrupt and totally aimed at satisfying the needs of two clubs. No amount of media spin or arguments from the fans of these two will ever be taken seriously again. This thread and the many others on this subject prove that football fans know the full extent of the corruption in our game and we will never be naive again.Rangers caused this meltdown so i for one will never boycott my club as this affects Rangers not one jot.Traynor,Keevins,Burley etc are easily dealt with.If all the fans on these forums boycotted these papers and replaced them with a competitor i,m sure the editor of these old firm fanzines would quickly take notice. If you dont listen or call in to Traynors radio show there is no show. Why anyone would want to talk to the most ignorant, condescending buffoon on the planet is beyond me anyway. We have to stop getting mad and start getting even.
