That tonight was up there with one of the worst Arbroath performances I have witnessed. Just amateur in our play and the type of goals we let in. Obviously the issues surrounding the lack of attacking players and tactics and the makeshift defensive line are well documented. But one of the things that baffled me tonight was McIntyre’s stubbornness to stick to his starting formation throughout the whole 90 mins?! Even though after only the first THREE GOALS it was clear we were struggling heavily in the wide areas, couldn’t cope with their wing backs, getting nothing to McKenna and lost everything in the middle of the park. We played the same formation on Saturday against ICT and had the exact same issues.

Formation decisions might not be the biggest issue we are facing as a club atm, but I think McIntyre needs to get this sorted asap. Otherwise we will be on the wrong end of more embarrassing results.

Thought the same during the match. I would’ve had Gaston subbed on as Boruc clearly isn’t good enough

If we are to go down - seems likely but we can dream - I just hope we go down swinging a little bit.
I feel like it’s been years since I seen us play two strikers and a right winger. We don’t have much of a plan going forward ever if the big punt doesn’t work.
Very frustrating but you can tell when we went 1 up that it’s a team who doesn’t have a lot of confidence.

I understand the criticism of Robinson but half the long balls to him weren’t within 30 yards of him so was always going to be up against it.

I agree Dow needs more end product for how much he has the ball but it’s painfully obvious the guy isn’t a winger anymore. I’d like to see him in that Slater roll that he drops into and see how he gets on as Slater always leaves a bit to be desired for me . Gold was good in the middle and is actually consistent. Thought Mackinnon struggled to make any impact if i’m honest bar the goal.

Hope the injuries to Tam and Hammy aren’t serious. Teale looks decent but Ricky (guys a legend) makes me worried at the back these days.

One thing is for sure. Scott Stewart is POTY surely? Genuine success story in a poor season for the team. Can play absolutely anywhere and looks a natural.

And as said above, please fix that tannoy! You don’t need to shout down it. Can’t have a conversation on the terraces for the volume of Katy Perry but can’t hear the half time scores.

Good post which sums most things up.

Not adding anything about on pitch yesterday but really struggle to see why we have all that social media presence but supporters are not aware that players are not playing (or even in the squad) until the team lines appear online about 2.30pm or you notice that players are missing from the warm up. Basic first team news or player info appears very rarely and most of any information given out appears in the post match manager and player interviews.

Re the big talking point of the day…..the tannoy guy.   Please, please turn the volume down and don’t shout into the microphone.  Does anyone one know why we have taken to playing a death metal type ‘song’ (at max volume) when the teams come out?

  3. For reasons that are unknown to me it seems the club have obviously stopped giving out any info or updates re the players or team in general and we are now left completely in the dark and only get snippets in the post match interviews or sometimes in the local press. Their social media is just full of birthdays, holiday pics, shop sales and ticket info.

I don’t know why the club have shut down and stopped communicating team info but with no game for three weeks, perhaps they will be gracious enough to let the support know the what the state of the team is?

Good highlights. Raith's goal was perfectly fine, ToB plays him onside as he's sliding on the ground trying to block the cross.

Also thought you had a, fairly soft, shout for a penalty at the end - Thomson had his hands on and pushed your forward, if your player had gone down, as well as JT, you might have got it.

The offside shout is not the cross, it’s seconds before that on the edge of the box when the Raith No.9, who appears to be in an offside position, interferes with play by blocking O’Brien from going towards the other Raith forward who is running with the ball.  This block may have been unintentional by the No.9 but he’s still in an offside position. Gaston sees it and briefly throws his arm up.

  5. Brilliant and well deserved result for Arbroath.

Maybe next home game the co-commentator (he was clueless) won’t give the Killie goalie the man of the match award when there was still about 13 or 14 minutes of the game to go. His early prediction of Arbroath tiring in the last 20 mins was also way off.

Thought the stream was okay, not as clear as many others, but whoever was working the replay button needs it taken from him.

  6. Only really got to see the second half due to the terrible stream, but from what I did see Arbroath played well. They never had many chances and were hanging on once or twice but emerged with what may be a precious point.  However it was another home game ruined by the two ‘commentators’. I appreciate they are amateurs and have no training or experience , but they are shockingly bad. Their poor commentary has been mentioned on national TV but I’m assuming they’ll not give up now as they wouldn’t get into future games. Have to decide whether to listen to the TV on mute or with the volume on to try and get some of the atmosphere but that’s when you’re forced to listen to the inane crap that they spout. Did anyone understand what the reason for the poor stream was?  They tried to read out a club statement with an explanation but they messed that up too. Highlight quote of the day was Fermer telling a player “to pay attention to what was happening on the pitch”.  Could only wish they did the same.

  7. Embarrassingly bad commentary yet again.  Talking inane crap throughout the game, ignoring the football, screaming down the microphone like idiots etc etc.    They should listen again to the lady at Ayr that was commenting last week, she was first class.

Commentary apart, Arbroath’s coverage is usually good but obviously a few gremlins this afternoon. Would be good if we could get an option to get drop the commentary and listen to the players/pitch side only.   AFC, please try and do something about the commentary.
