  1. That herald article is pure push. Would any of the teams in the top league be considerably better off if Rangers were in the top league? Even if the TV deal was a few million higher it would just be hoovered up by the OF and would make little difference to the rest of us prudent enough to only spend what we have these last few years.

The guy from begbie traynor shows no basic understanding of the dynamics of the game up here despite their research.

  2. Bennet making a lot of sense today. I can understand - if giggle at - the GIRFUY's from the other Sevco fans but given the position that Ashley appears to have established for himself it looks like the new board will have to dig very deep, or suck up to him and come to a long term agreement where they will 'manage' Rangers with his backing.

I think if king passes the fit and proper test with the SFA it's a farce, given how clear their rules are but the noises are that he will. I think he ll have no problems with AIM as he's still a wealthy, connected guy and allowed to act on boards, and hold directors positions in the jurisdiction he was convicted in. I think it's wrong given the magnitude of his crimes against the citizens of his poverty stricken and unequal country but capitalism - of which AIM is at the Wild West end of things - is more forgiving.

The other guys now involved will probably be able to do a better job than the shower of the last 3 years - if Ashley allows them and the Bears lower their expectations.

  3. I suspect he will get a Nomad - as tedi says this was flagged up as being likely. Surely he wouldn't be continuing on without that being sorted?

Still looks like Ashley holds all the aces and king and co will have to spend big to get actual control of revenues and assets even once they have control of the boardroom.

This will decrease the likelihood of 'city investment' in any future share issue even further. Time to dig deep again bears.....

  4. King has the supporters onside...King has the personal wealth to get the club back to the top.. King has the backing of many wealthy Rangers minded investors.

I just cannot see why the P&Ds are worried

He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football club. If rangers were somehow to recover and go on to do '50 in a Row' on the back of Kings money we'd still be pointing and laughing at the desperation and hurt of sevconians everywhere.

The AGM despite the hilarity did produce some sympathy for me for those who cared about their club and the way it has been embarrassed, disgraced and dismantled.

I could hear the helplessness and frustration in the postings of the Rangers fans on here and felt sorry for you. However bit by bit the defiance, blame and whataboutery sneaks back in and any understanding by a P or a D starts to melt away like money poured into another share issue.

  5. Irish tv pundits praising Scotland and felt there was an unexpected difference in quality. Robertson picked out as outstanding prospect and strachan praised for the confidence he has given players to try and play the ball on the deck,

Ireland were very poor - kick and rush and dirty. Still if Hanley had been sent off - for 2 yellows- as he should have been I wouldn't have fancied our chances.

Sad to see how playing the ROI has brought out a lot of self loathing in 'Irish' Celtic fans as well as a nasty sneering tone towards a country with close historical and current links to our own.

I think the English game will be poisonous and I'm glad I'm not at home for it.

  6. It's the amount extra they paid than was necessary for thosevplayers that is shocking. John daly had no other suitors - why double his wage? If any non celtic out of contract player eg. Black, laws, Sheils, daly etc had offers of 2 k per week why pay 5? I know sevco were also competing with some interest from England but I doubt the above received offers anything like what sevco offered. And all with no resale value. Nuts.

  7. In terms of utd figures we also turned down a joint bid of 1.5 mill for gms and Russell in the summer. If we were in financial trouble we would have taken the money and ran. Instead we branded it an insult.

Not out the woods yet but as the MSM had us with a debt of 10 mill (peaked at under 7 mill a few years ago) in the 'summer of armaggedon' we are doing ok and certainly are beyond reproach from fans of a zombie institution like sevco.

  8. Toaster is right in terms of the hit that will need to be taken. The loss of the 'bumper' away crowds could be reasonably absorbed but the TV deal renegotiation will hurt and will take a bug chunk out of the playing budget hence why guys like Houston are out saying 'if I lost 600k' I d have nothing left'. That is about 6/7 first teamers for us. However what rangers fans don't get is that we can cut our budgets as all will be in the same boat. Utd have just lost 5 of our highest earners. If need be they simply won't be replaced and we will have a first 11 and our u19s. If that's all we can afford than that is all we ll have. A concept that (even decent) rangers fans seem to not get their heads around.
