Having said that Stevie Woods managed to turn Fraser Forster from a lump of wood in to an absolute Colossus for us and helped reserect Gordon's career too so you never know. Kelly has definitely fallen upwards here though if it happens.

Coming onto the Motherwell thread and mentioning Stevie Woods is always a conversation starter...*

If Celtic are needing more homegrown players for Europe, then having folk like Kelly & Bain as #2 and #3 is a no-brainer really.  I did wonder if Rangers would've done similar and look to get Kelly back in as a back-up goalie (surely McCrorie needs to go somewhere and actually fucking play?).  If Kelly is happy to give up playing every week for the sake of an extra couple of grand a week, it's also a no-brainer from his side.  Whatever happens, it's definitely the right time for Kelly & Motherwell to part ways.

*He wasn't as bad as some make out, IMO.

  2. The Haggis Pie v Chasni Pie grudge match here.

Let's be honest, it would be funnier if St. Johnstone went down* so let's just give the paying punters some goals to enjoy.  3-2 to Ross County.

*To be fair, I think no matter who finishes 11th, they'll have enough to come through the play-off final.

FWIW though, I think it's best for all parties involved that Kelly moves on in the summer. He'll likely get a decent amount of cash elsewhere, probably could get a regular game. There's a definite lack of any goodwill from the support now too.

Agree with all of this, especially the part in bold.  I think when a support loses confidence in their goalkeeper, there's no getting it back.

Signing one over the hill keeper called Marshall is enough in my lifetime. Will never forgive Gordon Marshall for the 5-1 cup final defeat when I was a youngster.

Bit harsh, IMO. No doubt he had a poor game that day, but we wouldn't have been at Hampden without him.

He also had a very good game, and kept us in it, on a certain day in May 2005.

What I would like is immaterial, but I genuinely would be rather peeved should Aberdeen somehow manage to get a multiple of 4-5 times more for a striker that could end the season with less goals than Bair. That in a team should be creating more chances as well.

I mean, I get it, but you really shouldn't  be.  There's loads of factors in play here, it's not just they've both got 15 goals this season in a shite team.

For starters, Miovski is probably earning 4-5 times what Bair is.  That plays a factor in his worth.  Miovski was bought for quite a bit of money IIRC.  He's a regular international.  He's played, and scored, in European competition.  Aberdeen are a much bigger club than Motherwell.

There is absolutely not a chance in hell Bair would go for anything close to what Miovski will, and rightly so.

I know the answer will be - he has only done it for one season…

But the Q is how much is Theo Bair worth when Aberdeen are apparently looking for £5m+ for Miovski.

They are both 24. They have both scored 15 goals and actually all the stats in terms of accuracy and goals per minute etc favour big Theo.

If we can get £750k or thereabouts for Bair this summer, we should be biting their hand off!  Van Veen is the example we should be using with guys like Bair.  Sell at their highest point, make money for the club and the player himself, and move onto the next.  The surprise element has gone for Bair now so I don't see him improving further with us.

"An experienced keeper" has already agreed a deal was some of the chat at the game too, which if true would likely suggest that Liam Kelly is offski, or if he is staying we have actual competition for the GK position.

I really hope it's not the experienced keeper I've been told about.

I used to be almost as interested in English football as Scottish football. Everton were my English team an I've been down to Goodison countless times. But that was many moons ago. To me personally, the English Premier League is no longer football as I recognise it, a totally different sport which doesn't interest me in the slightest. I know loads of folk disagree with me. It saddens me to see the number of top English Premier League shirts on our kids.

Certainly my interest in the EPL has diminished greatly in the last 10 years or so.  I've also probably saw a handful of Champions League games in the last five years as well.  Like you say, I don't really recognise it as proper football anymore.  I still take an interest in the lower leagues in England as I have family in Barnsley and get down to a couple of games a season.

For the Premier League shirts on kids, that's been the case for 30 years or more.  I'm 37 so was just a kid when the EPL kicked off in '92.  My parents got me loads of shirts when I was a boy.  Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle.  Even a belting Man City away kit in the Kinkladze days.  I actually think you see more Scottish tops on youngsters these days (you'll always have lads having the EPL tops, plus Inter Miami etc due to Messi) but you also see a lot more tops of the "diddy" sides around.  Being in Lanarkshire, I see a lot more kids wearing Motherwell tops, which is great, but I've even seen youngsters wearing Hamilton & Airdrie tops, which you would hardly ever see 20/25 years ago.

2010 League Cup Final, losing to nine man Deadco. That takes clarting your nappy in a big game to a new level.

Everyone can probably name a handful that happened to their own team, but this was an all-timer.  Even I felt sick when St. Mirren lost that one.

5-1 Hibs in the 2007 League Cup final was right up there to.

Slighly harsh, I'd say.  I was at the game as a neutral that day and it was just one of those days.  Hibs were absolutely fantastic, with a superb young side, and would've ripped most teams to shreds.

It's been over a decade since this and I am still furious at McCall for his build up to this game. We shat the bed a week before a ball was even kicked.

This, plus the Albion Rovers debacle, means that until my dying day I'll argue that McCall was a very poor Motherwell manager.  Stevie Wonder could have taken us to 2nd spot with the team we had and how poor the rest of the league was at the time.

I've always thought we missed the bus a bit with Ravenscraig.

I dunno. There's still that massive bit of space next to where the College sits.  I know they're building a road through the bit further up but there's still loads of room left, IMO.

That would be alright for me.  Would be on the Fir Park side of the land and you could stoat up the new back road from the Century in 10/15 minutes on a Saturday!
