  1. My Uncle Davie's house for lunch. Homemade pizzas before making our way, far too early (but his hyper-punctuality is an idiosyncrasy worth accommodating given the michelin star scran he serves up) to Firhill. I've never been one for going out for lunch (and my dad was never one for the pub) before a game as it's always been a family occasion with the ritual centre being my Gran's house in Maryhill (home made soup and meat pies......still my favourite ever food) where we'd eat and the men and boys would walk to the game. She's no longer with us, so for the last couple of decades the pre-match meetup has been in Bishopbriggs. I haven't been in a year or so now, so aye, I'm feeling the absence of that quite keenly now. Thanks for starting this thread amigo.
  2. I remember when Operacion Puerto went to court and the prosecution were instructed to only look at the cases of cyclists, despite the fact that they made up a minority of Fuentes' clientele. He himself said that if all his files were opened then Spain would have to give back their World Cup. There were a number of tennis players on his books too. I've always had my suspicions about Nadal myself.
  3. How in hell is that Spain winner not offside? Am I being thick or can you play a guy on even if you're off the pitch?
  4. I quite enjoyed it, but saw little point in continuing beyond series 3 (I felt most of the arcs had been tied up). I thought it was great, especially series 2.
  5. Affleck made this point to Michael Bay and was told to shut up.
  6. Cheers for starting a thread on this JF. I've been wanting to do this for ages, but have only got as far as brambles and rasps. There's a crackin spot where chanterelles grow near Kintore, so I'll head over there in a month or so.
  7. Co-commentators. It may have been said elsewhere, but I'm watching the Europa League highlights and Robbie Savage's purpose seems to be to describe in basic terms what I'm seeing on the screen. To wit "he just runs in front of the defender and gets his head on it to score a goal". Spellbinding insight. The purpose of this role merely appears to be to provide a wage for former players as I can't imagine it helps the viewer any.
  8. Oh I appreciate that, but now it seems to have been highjacked. By whom? Particularly wild take this.
  9. Livi have apparently agreed a deal with QPR to sell Lyndon Dykes for £2m. It got me thinking again about Liam Lindsay and the frankly derisory sum we let him go for. Did LL have a clause in his contract that stipulated he could go to an EFL club if a bid of, say, £300k was made? Was it him having a year left on his contract made our board eager to accept such a low amount? Or were our board just shitebags who were afraid of holding out for an amount he was clearly worth (and a championship club could clearly afford)?
  10. Jack Whitehall is the clear winner here. The only reason he has any sort of a career is because he's posh. Posh and shouty seem to be enough to make it in comedy. I was fairly appalled at his act on Apollo where literally all he did was shout and complain how his boarding school classmate, Robert Pattinson, was more successful than him. Baffling. He seems like a nice enough fella tbf, but the sheer number of posh comics who punch down is alarming at the moment. Anyone saying Limmy, Frankie Boyle, Kevin Bridges or Sir Big Yin for this are trolling or contrarian. Bonkers.
  11. I don't see this happening. It's the equivalent of getting Lomachenko to fight Joshua. Lomachenko is pound for pound the best fighter on the planet right now, but he isn't a heavyweight. Joshua, Wilder or Fury would turn him into wallpaper paste within a couple of rounds. Let the women play their own game. It's fairer.
  12. I think maybe the board know that to compete with Celtic they need to pump the kind of money into the squad that would see them quickly in grave financial difficulty, so will perhaps accept no trophies so long as there is evidence of closing the gap. Gerrard has undoubtedly improved them. After the OF* game in late December they looked to have the edge on Celtic and were understandably being talked about as title winners. Obviously the wheels came off a bit in the new year, but they always gave the impression of being a player or two away from being contenders.
  13. I bloody loved this extra detail. As one who goes all out when telling a story (especially when there's different accents involved) I couldn't disagree with you more here. Being a raconteur is a skill and having someone perform a one man play about the time they were refused service in a shop while presenting a cast of characters is joyous. I wonder if this is down to being from the eastern side of the central belt. Over in the west we're all budding cabaret performers.
  14. Sadly agree with this. Smoked mackerel with a soft boiled egg or the fash with the beetroot. Needs to be on rye bread too (as an open sang-meej) imo.
  15. Link? If it's true Google are remaining tight lipped.
  16. That was painful. The "it's off the scale daft" line had my arsehole like a decimal point.
  17. I'm relieved that this pish is finally over and that we can finally get on with playing football (eventually). I haven't read the statement but I imagine it's the same sort of patronising, Low hanging fruit (pun intended) pish that our chairman has been putting out since the beginning of her tenure. I'm pleased I'll get to more games next season (more seaside league teams within an hour on the train than championship ones) and I hope that the pies in Montrose match the ones in Arbroath (which deserve a michelin star tbqhwy). What a farce, but can you imagine how dull and patter deficient the last couple of months in scottish football would have been without this whole saga? You're all welcome.
