There's no excuse but you understand his anger? There was no need for that anger, under no circumstance should an experienced international player be doing that. You can blame Davidson for loads of things but Spoony fucked that game beyond repair, not Callum.

But Calum was the manager, with whom the buck ultimately stops. His indecision contributed to Spoony's state of mind. Calums indecision and poor decision making ultimately undetermined his whole career at Saints. We should have won that tie. We would have won that tie if Wright had still been in charge.

Managers make difficult decisions. Seeing Spoony go is heartbreaking, but, and it's a big but, I'm happy we have a manager who's willing to make those decisions.

Thinking with the head rather than the heart, deep down, I think it was the right one...

  2. The current situation reminds me entirely of 2002 when Billy Stark and his band of retirees (Kemble, Falconer etc) got us relegated with barely a wimper.

Completely sucked my interest out of watching football after 10 years of hardly missing a game, and I've never watched football regularly since (albeit having hardly been in the country since 2003!).

We were let off last season - the problems were absolutely clear to see during the European games.  That we haven't solved them now, and just made them worse is simply unforgivable.

Taking my 6 year old to McDiarmid for the first time. Probably be her last after we get beat and she asks me to never subject her to that again!

This is a real issue... Had my kids on the verge of wanting season tickets after Galatasary, only to take them to the Dundee Utd game where they were completely turned off and haven't been able to convince them to go back since LASK. It's pointless letting kids in free when the "entertainment" on offer is so poor.

  4. If the money is put back into the football side of the business, it certainly won't be on transfer fees (and indeed i'd hope its not), which suggests it will be used to try and tie down others.

If we hadn't sold McCann/Kerr now we would almost certainly be in a position next summer where we lost Kerr, McCart, Gordon, and Zander for nothing, and McCann for £500k tops (1 year left on contract).

Instead we have £2m in the bank which can now be used to tie down Gordon/Zander/McCart, which, if it happens, is a hell of a lot better than the alternative in my eyes.

  5. Everyone better get used to dealing with the Home Office.  My wifes last visa renewal took 8 months despite paying the "super priority fee".  She is still awaiting the refund of her "NHS surcharge" which was promised, very publically, to all key workers when the government realised they were being embarrased.  Of course, what they say and what they do are two completely different things.

Seen Galatasaray fans on twitter saying they bought tickets. One saying they've got a group of 13.

Although the more I think about it the more I don't believe they're actually telling the truth. 🤔

Would love to know who they are buying them from, as still haven't got through on the phone and every season ticket holder I know had filled their allocation last night!

I don't suppose there are any ST holders on here that have a couple allocated tickets spare for this? Happy to pay a couple quid on top for the bother.

Any chance you could let Saints fans get tickets first? I'm still trying to sort out 2 adults, a child and two u12's.

Never ever did I think as a St.Johnstone fan i'd ever have trouble getting tickets - a measure of just how far this football club has come!

Interestingly Hammond told Marr that those cladding tiles were banned in the UK as well a saying he hadn't voted on the amendment.

He is wrong.  Flammable materials are banned above 18m.  In any logical sense this was a flammable material, but under British standards (and other countries too!) it was an 'inflammable material' and hence allowed to be used.

See this for an explanation http://www.impact-solutions.co.uk/pe-cladding-and-fire-ratings-what-does-it-all-mean/

  9. For the following reasons NO to NEWCO... http://saintinasia.wordpress.com/2012/06/13/the-end-of-the-beginning-weatherseal-do-save-newco/

    1) 18 million worth of PAYE not paid. 2) Debt owed to Hearts, Celtic, Dundee Utd, Rapid Vienna amongst others; 3) Four years of season tickets sold off to Ticketus; 4) Trying to sign players whilst in administration (Daniel Cousin anyone); 5) An administration that saw the redundancy of ZERO employees; 6) A transfer ban, subsequently appealed through the courts; 7) The interest of FIFA in the matter; 8) A war correspondent from C4 becoming deeply involved; 9) An American bidder who was run out of town; 10) McCoist publicly having names of disciplinary committees published so the Rangers mob could try and run them out of town; 11) a CVA proposal offering 1p in the Pound, while the bidder was talking about a 30million transfer budget, signing players from the Euro’s and now Rino Gattuso was set to sign (despite a transfer ban and being in administration; 12) the CVA proposal saying all season ticket money and player sales would go to Green, and not the creditors; 13) The SPL allowing a Newco Rangers to have a vote on whether they get into the SPL or not! 14) NOT ONE HINT OF AN APOLOGY FROM ANY RANGERS FAN, SUPPORTER, FORMER DIRECTOR OR PLAYER.

  10. I know this has been done by others before, and the Scotsman article at the weekend said the same again, but how would clubs fair without Rangers. For the majority, Celtic excluded, I think they would be better off.

This is mainly based on St.Johnstone, but I guess will translate to St.Mirren, Killie etc. http://bit.ly/LevNWJ

The spreadsheet with my working is here - If you think it is wrong please tell me so! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...GhpaS1MYl8wYlE

Feel free to edit for your own club as well.

  11. So if the SFA punishment turns out to be a Scottish Cup ban then Rangers, who have broken nearly every rule in the book, ends up getting the same punishment as some team who has inadvertently failed to register a player as has happened in the past.

    Surely not!

Anyone worried about Rangers not getting hammered for this need to

    1) read Regan's statement http://bit.ly/KCypys

    2) check his twitter. https://twitter.com/#!/StewartRegan

Rangers are history. Regan has as good as said it...

"appropriate to remind member clubs that by very dint of their membership of the Scottish FA, they accept and abide by the Articles of Association"

    Regan's way, or the highway...

  12. Really interesting statement from Stewart Regan tonight. Just as I was about to give up altogether. A few over on RTC saying it wasn't strong enough, although I don't really know what else he was meant to say.

I love his last line - "appropriate to remind member clubs that by very dint of their membership of the Scottish FA, they accept and abide by the Articles of Association"

I wonder just how they are going to "remind" Rangers of this...

...AGM on 6th of June... Please please please let that be the end to this mess so we can go back to talking about Saints?! My analysis on the statement for anyone that cares http://bit.ly/KCypys

  13. So were Partick Thistle thrown out the game when they took the footballing authorities to court?

No, because, probably like the St.Johnstone case from 1965 (http://saintinasia.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/saints-v-sfa-1965/), this was completely different set of circumstances. Article 64 was only reinforced last August by FIFA to specifically include punishment for members (clubs) which use the civil courts to go against the rules of the FIFA body (the SFA) without referring the case to the CAS.

The SFA might very well follow the courts advice re: the transfer ban and change it. But they will then have to punish Rangers for going to the court, in breach of FIFA rules (Art. 64). If the SFA fail to act then FIFA will act on the SFA, and it won't end well.

And this is all before we even get to the 'dual contract's again!

If Dunfermline are not reinstated in today's meeting and Rangers thrown out, then Scottish football is going to die... How many season tickets have your club sold so far? I'm willing to bet not many - our club haven't...

  14. A cynic would say D&P took the court action on the same day they released the CVA Proposal to deflect attention away from the only thing the CVA is useful as – toilet paper.

Seriously. They expect ANYONE to accept that. Their balance sheet still displays a surplus of 64million, so where do they get the 5.5million figure for the assets from?!

Onto the Judicial Review, and it seems the courts have followed Scottish law precedent, which hasn’t been challenged since St.Johnstone took the SFA to a Judicial review and won in 1965. However, what no one on here has mentioned yet, is that this case was very different.

Firstly – Saints were given no chance to defend themselves. No hearing, no nothing. Their only remedy was the judicial review. Rangers have had two hearings.

Secondly – the FIFA articles at that time did not stop members taking action against the FA. They do now.

My full analysis of the St.Johnstone case is here http://saintinasia.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/saints-v-sfa-1965/

I can see the SFA now overturning the transfer ban, and immediately expelling Rangers for breaking FIFA article 64. If they don’t, there is no point in Saints, Motherwell, Celtic, Hearts or Dundee Utd fans renewing their passports…

  15. If you havent read this post on rtc then do so. Barcaboy the writer had written back in 2006 that rangers were breaking rules with their ebt programme, so he's clearly reliable and rtc has already supported his statement. Cant wait to find out what else they have done that makes a non extridition country a good idea! http://bit.ly/JC00g8

Even before that i cannot see how they are going to get back into the spl as a new co as i believe, based on released official statements that there are 4 clubs against any form of newco. My analysis is here of all the statements http://bit.ly/K2niyu
