  1. That's the thing. What manager would want to work with a failure?A desperate one like Gus perhaps.

The levels of failure at Dunfermline not only on the pitch, but by the board, is even more hilarious. I genuinely believe if they replaced Jeffries with a proven manager at the time they could've won the league. But to put in an unproven under 20's coach to save costs has resulted in another season in the league. By saving costs on not bringing in someone new and giving the job to someone clearly not up to the job they've lost even more money by staying in the league with no guarantee they will get out of it next season.

And to see the same happening again now is hilarious. Dunfermline want to bring in a good manager to lead them to the title next year but the new manager must accommodate Potter because they can't afford to sack him, leading to a poorer manager coming in and making it more likely the pars self admitted risk of remaining full-time will lead to a complete mess when promotion fails again next season and they are forced to be part-time. Many guys like Bollan and Aitken would probably love a crack at full-time football at some point but being forced to accommodate a clown like Potter makes the job risky and a lot more unappealing. The amount of money wasted and lost this season, next season and possibly the next season because they don't want to pay off Potter is pleasing. Who is running this shambles

  2. Tits up.

TBF if anyone said we'd get worse than what we were under Jefferies you'd be classed as a loony. Can't win.

Everyone except pars fans could see that the appointment of Potter as manager was the wrong one. Jeffries was dire so why give the job to his right hand man who was untested in professional football? He was an average under 20's coach and wasn't cut out to turn around the season to fight and grind out results to win the league against teams managed by guys like Duffy, Aitken, Campbell etc. He is clearly well out of his depth at the pars. As was always going to be the case, obviously, to those without black and white tinted specks on.

The excuse that Dunfermline couldn't afford to replace him with someone else is laughable, as now they will be spending another year in league one possibly going part-time and even if they do stay full-time there is no guarantee they will win the league as they will likely have a smaller and weaker squad than they do right now and key players will likely move on such as Buchannan.

Bringing in a proven manager of a higher stature would have given the pars a fantastic chance to win the league when Jeffries went. If they can't afford to bring in anyone else the pars have found their level?

  3. Who has actually said this kind of pish? Seriously. Most of us just wanted Jefferies gone.

    HTH.

Potter knocked back a coaching role at Hearts recently. He has won our last five u-20 league games

Aggregate score of Pars 18 - 3 Dundee, Dundee Utd, Falkirk, Ross County, Partick

The performances and results of his team, plus the clear affection the players have him was a pretty stark contrast to how JJ was getting on with the first team. Also, Potter's u20s played Rangers near the end of last season and drew 1-1, whereas the 'proper' first team got cuffed by three or four goals each time.

I'm chuffed anyway as I've wanted Potter as manager for a while now. I know the name will mean nothing to most folk but I was a bit worried we'd lose him to another club if JJ struggled on.

You say that yet we can only get better and I wouldn't be surprised if we romp you now.

Potter should be ready to start. It was always the plan. A popular figure at EEP, doing well with U20s in a league full of Premiership clubs and is a Dunfermline fan. It sounds good enough to me. Said before I'd take Potter or Aitken.

Things can get a bit heated but I'd like to say all the best to JJ and fair play to him for realising he is past it and doing what was best for the club by stepping aside.

Reading Potter's comments on the site does give me confidence they will have new ideas for the team. Always think it's telling when the new guy barely mentions the man he's replacing. Think Potter may have been rather miffed to not get the job before the season started.

Might try and head along on Saturday now.

Folk on .net and Facebook are still seriously suggesting that fans on a website hounded out JJ and that this was a big mistake.

Potter is one game into his postion. We were massively unfortunate. We played better than we have all season. Puddle drinkers.

  4. At the game on Saturday we discussed what could have been for Dunfermline had they enticed Ian McCall back to football. The difference he has brought to Ayr have been night and day so far, performances are improving and results are starting to materialise. There is no doubt that Dunfermline have a competent squad, could an experienced/respected manager like McCall have brought them back up the table?

Not needed. They have the young messiah promising under 20's coach as their manager, and what a fine job he is doing!

  5. Scully

    Williamson Buchanan Paterson Whittle

    McAusland

    Wallace Geggan Thomson Stirling

    Barrowman

If I was the manager and had a full squad I would pick the above team.

Natural width, experience and quality at the back and solid in the centre with the option of the two central midfielders pushing forward when it counts.

Bit of a gamble with McAusland and Paterson plus the two full backs may not be the best defensively.

Great option to have Fais, Smith Falkingham, Bryne to bring on once the other team has tired.

We really need to start winning the battles and doing the basics and playing a settled hard working 1-11 who knows what each other will be doing and how to play with each other.

I suppose the other alternative would be something like

    Scully

    McAusland Buchanan Martin Whittle

    Geggan or Spence

    Falkingham Bryne Stirling or Thomson

    Moffat Buchanan

To me this just goes back to exposing our problems

Unbalanced fullbacks, Geggan at times ineffective, Bryne and Falkingham are too lightweight to play in the same midfield.

Moffat isn't up to speed but may work with Barrowman

Are the centenary club lifeline funds going into making a clone out of Buchanan?

  6. No, you have boring posts as well.

At least he doesn't have boring Saturday nights though. He has much better things to do than post on here.

Dunfermline paying rent on top of wages for one of their players  billy big baws club is that where the fans monthly donations are going? Did he get an ikea gift card off Jim when he signed too so he could furnish the place?
