  1. Statement from Allan MacGregor has RM in a huff.

Meanwhile, Allan McGregor has joined Besiktas and insisted: "I'm ready for the challenge."

The ex-Rangers keeper, 30, agreed a two-year deal worth £35,000 a week with the Turkish cracks.

Gregsy, 30, completed his medical and will now jet out to Austria to join up with his new team-mates.

He said: "It's a big club with big tradition and supposedly they have great fans who make a lot of noise.

"It's a new challenge that's come up and I'm ready for it. I'll be giving my all here, as I do every time I play."

Gers owner Charles Green will fight for compensation insisting McGregor could NOT quit Ibrox for nothing.

McGregor insisted: "My club went into liquidation in June and I became a free agent."

How do you like them apples !!

Much as it pains me, I'm going to give him a pass on this. Doesn't mean I like him one iota though.....

  2. As good as it is, why is this thread still on the go in the SPL forum? The Gretna and Livi threads were all punted to the third when they went tits up.

Aw c'mon - this is not a time to be pedantic. It's a time to celebrate again and again and again.

It should remain here until the cheating snatches worm their way back up in to the top division. Because it's going to rumble on for years and years.

Then when they get there we can abuse them all over again.

  3. I know its been asked on here before but has anyone managed to come up with an answer yet?

HOW MANY OTHER COMPANIES IN THE WORLD "NEGOTIATE" A PUNISHMENT?

Surely its just a case of the SFA saying "this is going to a panel who will judge, take it or leave it?"

To be fair, the NEWCO dont really need to accept any punishment because its a totally new company and Rangers dont exist anymore.

So surely its Duff and Phelps who should be arguing to have titles kept as it really isnt anything to do with Green.

I do think, that these punishments transferring to Newco is some kind of trade-off for the fact the newco dont actually meet new entrant to SFL conditions.

Unfortunately in the corporate world, it is more the norm than an exception. The bigger the footprint, the more leverage. just have a look at the banking industry for a start.

  4. Here's an idea!

The first D3 game at Ibrox will be a big media event. I know we don't want to give them money....however... How cool would it be if the away end was full with fans of all clubs with their scarves and banners? The meedja would have to report it and it would send a heck of a message.

Just something to think about 8)

That's just another recipe for "social unrest.":D

  5. Has All McCoist publicly apologised to RRFC for all of the trouble and loss of money he caused due to asking for the anonymous panel to be outed?

That was pretty shocking, I thought.

In fact some of the language used by people in responsible positions throughout this whole affair has been beyond irresponsible, tbh.

Right, I'm off to foment some social unrest on the streets of LA. :)

  6. Sure you can dream, you can dream about pumping Kate Upton. But that is a million miles from "I only support St. Mirren because I think they can win the league". Of course I don't think that, I'm not fucking stupid. There is virtually no chance St. Mirren will win the league in my lifetime, and I fully accept that. It makes no difference to whether or not I support them.

I'm frankly astonished any diddy fan only supports their club because they are deluded enough to think they can win the league. Hearts are slightly different cause they have been relatively close but average diddy shite liken St. Johnstone and St. Mirren? Don't fucking kid yourself.

I don't think that's what he was getting at. It's one thing to know in your heart you've got no chance. It's another to have your fucking nose rubbed in it by the authorities? Oh and of course he'll be back....:)

  7. If you really have dreamed of winning the league than that is just delusional. St. Mirren will likely never win the league, I honestly don't give a shit.

And unlike many here I won't abandon my team because a decision is made out of their hands. Fans really are utterly ridiculous at times.

See I know what you're saying and it is now a distant dream. But you're allowed to dream, aren't you?

For all Mercer did for Hearts in turning round a football club, I think his attitude that we could only realistically confirm ourselves as the third force actually hampered us in the mid/later 80s. If that's the message from the top, how does that drag you over the line when you have an opportunity? There's only so much realism you can bear?

  8. I read the first two words and then gave up I mean- LONDON,Scotland laugh.gif

Well you missed a good article. Also Rob Hughes is a Brit.

"Rob Hughes has written, broadcast and edited about sports for four decades. His columns in The International Herald Tribune since 1977 illuminate the global phenomenon of soccer for readers in 180 countries. He has reported on the World Cup since 1974 and the Olympic Games since 1988.

In his native England, he was chief sports writer for The Times of London for a decade and a writer for The Sunday Times and Sunday Times Magazine for more than 25 years."

  9. Not my reading of it. I think one or two SFL clubs will waiver but they were probably heading in that direction anyway. Most will keep there own counsel but probably be pissed off at being lectured by Cockwomble. These guys are not stupid and have put years into their own clubs, can't see sufficient numbers being swayed.

You're right I think and we should expect a "yes" from some with a very heavy heart, But when you're so close to the breadline and basic sustainability, it's a rock and a hard place isn't it?

  10. Extract from todays piece in the Daily Ragtag :

Hutton emerged from the SFL's crunch meeting at Hampden adamant Rangers should be demoted to the Third Division.

He rejected proposals to parachute the Ibrox newco into the First and slammed the SPL and its chief executive, Neil Doncaster, for saddling clubs such as Raith with their problem.

Hutton, who insists he has been threatened and bullied into making a decision, says the SPL is now unsustainable and branded it a dead parrot.

He urged them to disband and allow Scottish football to reinvent itself with top-flight clubs applying for SFL membership instead.

After Doncaster warned SFL clubs that as many as six SPL sides would go to the wall if Rangers aren't allowed into the First Division, a seething Hutton said: "In essence, the SPL is like a dead parrot. It's financially unsustainable.

"So it's hardly up to the First Division to sustain that. There could maybe be a recognition from the top that accepts the SPL is dead so let's wind it up.

"It hasn't worked for the past 14 years, it has been a failure. It's all gone belly-up.

"Let's start again and I'm sure the SFL would welcome applications from teams who are currently in the SPL to join an organisation that is based on sporting integrity. "

I like this man lots. Live within your means? It's what we all strive to do whatever the circumstances.

  11. Cockwomble has just been on the Today programme. His current line is "Why should the 41 innocent clubs suffer?" My answer would be to add 2 words to that question - "any more",

My answer would be "Why should the 41 innocent clubs have to put up with your playground bully tactics any more, CW?"

If you had any sense of decency, you'd have resigned by now? You are beyond compromised.

  12. Has there to date been an answer to these simple questions re the stitch up into SFL1:

    1) what happens of Sevco don't get promotion from SFL1 next season? Unlikely but possible.

    2) what happens if, say, Romanov decides to kick Hearts into touch next season, liquidate and start as a newco? Do they get treated the same?

Vlad won't on 2. He's loving this. In a completely convoluted way, it's playing out exactly as he said it would. He's no fucking visionary but he's so got lucky here? He'll see it all through now because it's fun:)
