  1. It's not changing an away fixture, it's to bring one of the home games forward to next week.

The SFL were adamant that the 1st three fixtures and the last three fixtures cannot be tampered with as each team must play in a set sequence, hence Raith are away to QOS on the opening Saturday, despite being League Champions, due to a fixture request by Fife Police for April.

Interesting to see if they could accomodate Livi.

  2. And SSN have it on their breaking news bar now

Rovers called Livingston to instigate that triple sale. It was all us. Not Livvy's fault.

That shows you the difference between Livi and us, we were crippled financially and had no other option but to ask clubs for cash in exchange for players. Livi's owners just carry on regardless and hide under the table then rant it was the previous boards mis-managment and they are not to blame. The same Livi that had a transfer embargo enforced due to non payment of players contracts then within a year are dis-honouring players contracts again. Livi did screw us though as only Marvin was offered but they wanted Toastie and Tosh as well for the measley 30 grand we needed, Tosh apparently as a taxi driver for Marv.

All of Livi's previous owners mis-management are now coming back to haunt them in one big pile of shit, the warning signs were there years ago but the faith put into charlatan white knights have blinded a club that only ever wanted to succeed, just like Gretna. Short term success was opted for rather than long term sustainability. Clubs like Inverness and Ross County have built up in stages with contingency for relegation and failure, two words that Livi owners used to frequently spout "were not an option"

  3. My guess (and it is only that) is that the board are expecting a season at the arse end of the league to leave us with no appreciable upturn in gate receipts (especially as I'm expecting a few of the more senior players to have had promotion clauses giving them a pay rise). Or, they're taking the option to pay down the debt.

To be honest, I'm not unhappy with either of those.

We have been guilty of overspending the past couple of seasons and Jon Sim, if you remember (about Christmas time) was not too happy about it. Before we could kind of bend the budget knowing that the bank overdraft would be extended or soft loans would be obtained from directors. None of those avenues are open or welcome anymore.

The squad is probably not as bad as people are making out, Livi will probably start the season and I would imagine struggle badly, Morton, Ayr and Ross County have probably better squads than us but are not unbeatable and they will all struggle for consistency. Last years 1st Division was pretty tight and if this year's is the same then we might just be alright.

Bumper crowds in the first half of the season might allow us to strengthen later on, I think we got rid of most of the players we needed to from last season and as the end of August nears, bargains may be available as the SPL will no doubt slash their playing staff as if rumoured, reserve football is scrapped as a result of a reduced tv deal.

  4. Airdrie were kicked out of the League, don't forget, and it was another year before the "new" Airdrie got back in. And if the club goes into administration or liquidation it will lose all its players anyway: they become assets that the administrator will try to sell. Don't kid yourselves - administration is the hard option, not the soft one. Anyone trying to sell that course of action toi you as the sensible one is pulling wool over your eyes.

Airdrie United took over the Bankies the same summer that Airdrieonians went bust, Airdrie played 1st divison, went bust then played following season as Airdrie United in Division 2 after stealing Clydebank.

  5. I think the point the man might be making is that he will put together a deal to take over the club which involves paying the council £70k which is better than they will get if the club enters some form of insolvency process.

I can see where he is coming from - its called a composition with creditors but he has to take care of all the creditors on a similar basis. If Massone is genuinely owed £500k and he writes that off, the remaining debt is £8-900k and paying 25% of that would cost the £200-250k he's talking about. Trouble is, after that he needs to sort ongoing losses which seem to be running at around £10k a week and find working capital.

Just a few months ago Clyde were being chased for a whacking amount from Lanarkshire council in rent arrears before they accepted a partial amount and a voluntary repayment plan. It is probably the most sensible plan for the council to recoup at least some of the cash owed.

As has been mentioned before though that if every creditor wants the same then they are in the same mess and particularly if they are still losing money on a weekly/monthly basis.

Considering Livi have failed to pay players, taxman, rent, electric, police etc. then where has the income that has been generated actually gone. There cannot be much more to pay for a football club's operation after that lot.

  6. What sort of assurances?

Gretna's situation was a bit different, they were already in administration even before the end of the previous season, and there was already an issue with the ground which gave the SFL further scope.

The only assurances that the SFL could have possibly asked for was that the employees that were due wages from March, April or whenever, would be reimbursed in full or face consequences.

I doubt the SFL could legally relegate them for that though and it was a hollow threat, to entice Livi to pay up.

  7. The SFL made a "threat" in May that Livi would be relegated to the 3rd Div for failure to pay employees under contract. There was a meeting arranged with Livi and David Longmuir from the SFL .

Surely a deadline should have been set to have assurances that Livi could survive the summer, I am sure Gretna were relegated straight to the 3rd last year to make the whole restructuring process easier, before they eventually went under.

  8. normal service for the East of Scotland League Division One, which is where Livingston will start the new season if things carry on like this for much longer.

has a bigger fantasist ever been in charge of an SFL club? he makes Claude Anelka's ill-stared tenure at Raith look like the work of an amateur by comparison.

That is the first compliment (albeit a backhanded compliment) that Anelka has ever recieved in respect to Raith Rovers.

Anelka was the catalyst for Rovers fans to take control, the time is now for Livi fans to have that same eureka moment or accept that they are heading for oblivion if they continue with the current regime. Is Davie Hay still anything to do with Livi and was it his son-in-aw that was involved?
