Regionalisation is 100% the way forward for one season then create 2 super Divisions after that season. And the  remaining teams just continue to play in regions

Simple to do for Saturday afternoon football and The SAFA are aware of it [ and have small support within it ]  as we put it forward to them back Last September B4 the shut down.

Auld yin - what do think the future will hold for amateur football as I cannot see it surviving in current structure ?

I do not often agree with you "Amateur Footie Fan" but your are right on this...……….. wonder why they did not

How can you play Scottish / West  cup with potential different players if this is what I’m reading right ?

You cannot change the rules of a competition at latter stages , there is no chance of cups getting played in timelines set within SAFA guidelines so amateur football need to  do the right thing and void the competitions.

Well Done to The SAFL Executive suspending all fines due by clubs due to the current situation, as most clubs raise funds from players on match days....good move

Is this really a step move forward , let’s stop self promoting and all deal with issue ahead we are in serious unprecedented position where all clubs / sponsors are at serious risk !!!

What I said could easily be applied to professional football, look at Leicester for example. If they scrapped this season, who would be in the CL/EL? League coefficients etc - do they just wipe anything that's happened this season? Not sure if there is a solution out there at all.

I’m sorry but the biggest worry we have here is for well being of people , the biggest majority of people involved in game are at an age where we see biggest risk with committee’s or executive members and family’s who run teams how can we possibly continue season until we know full exposure to all ?.

This is without even considering players and there families ?

    Assessment of todays game,

Braehead overall better than Sandys who for all there noise on social media are utter dross!!  That said there in the 1/4s of the big 1, they wont go any further than that.

Seen alot in my years in ammie football but Sandys are something else!! U may say 'gang' thats being kind, av never seen a sideline like it!!

Can see why they dominate the Leafa league as they probly intimidate every team they play. They wont do that down at Shortless thats for sure!!

Braehead will be gutted, to score 4 away from home in the Scottish and not win will hurt!!

    Redondo

You must be confident to see off Braehead next week if what you seen today after them losing 5 goals to a team who you thought were “utter dross “.

Although I’m sure it will be a hotly contested local derby not for the faint hearted.

"Without prejudice, if the SAFA and relevant Committee wish to pursue the matter on the back of the referee's report, then it is without an appeal from Harestanes".

If that turns out to be the case then it stinks. Could be suggested they were made aware its in the report. Time will tell I suppose

If the SAFA are to investigate then I would imagine Friday draw will still have Harestanes included , I would tend to agree with above the statement has left it wide open for SAFA to act and the part of statement where there have been threats is this a ploy for replay game moved to neutral venue .

I don't think we have heard end of this yet...........

Not directly involved just my local team and I know a few of the boys. Age wise only 1 player over 30 with 6/7 just in early 20s.

Good luck to Castlemilk in next round I hope they can beat Shortlees.

Des on ages Chic / Gregor Campbell / Purdie there’s 3 over 30 not sure about Kyle but be late 20’s as will a few others who have been around amateur game for while , not an old team but defo no as young as you make out they have a fair bit experience in team.

Funny game football. Thought Fallin were the better side. LB then gets a red which seemed harsh and Castlemilk go on to win.

never mind always next year - Fallin have a good young team that will only get better.

I take you are involved with Fallin sore one today but tough tie , however you keep commenting how young Fallin are what’s average age of side ?

Its not the CSAFL that are causing this. We lost 9 players who have moved on to Junior Clubs and very good amateur clubs. Thats just the joy of amateur football. The problem is theres not as much appetite for players to come into a team at this point. I’m certain that we’ll (Third Lanark) be fine. Its going to take me a couple of months but i’m confident we can get the team performing again.

We’re just needing to regroup next week at training and having had a decent number of players contact us, have a good look at them all.

The downside of playing in such a good league is that weaknesses are exposed and its so unforgiving.

We’ve been so lucky to have had a great group of players for so long but things change and we need to evolve

Good luck to you and your club mate  , not easy times for amateur football

Was at the SAFA council meeting last week at was reported club membership is more or less the same as this time last year, with the over 35's seeing a increase in teams also only the one league down

Would be interested to see figures without over 35’s as them being in can be misleading to where amateur is in comparison to last few years.

We are seeing clubs fold , not fulfilling friendly fixtures more and more  , not sure what the answer is but certainly worth looking at local leagues again as there does not seem to be appetite to travel as much for players these days with society changing , working shifts more common etc .

He may well have left the senior game, but he is 35 and reasonably fit , not carrying any excess weight, and I can confirm that in the 4 pre season games he has played , he has been superb in all of them, as you would expect a player of his calibre to be when he steps down into the amateur ranks. Also, I have been impressed with his attitude towards the amateur game , whereby he is very patient and encouraging to the players roundabout him, including opponents, and he pays his tenner like the rest of the squad !!

It may not last, but while he is with our Club, we will embrace it and hopefully learn from him and vice versa.

On that point, we may well not be Bannockburn or Harestanes or any other of the top clubs, but we are striving to be better, and yes we have had some bad seasons, the same as even the top clubs, but we are a proper amateur club in the truest sense and as we move into our 60th year of existence, we will try and remove the perception that we are "shite"

Great post mate , I have no doubt he will stroll the amateur game week  in week out passing on invaluable knowledge and experience to teammates. 35 is nothing if playing at back still has a good few years left in him .

Steadfast should be applauded for signing and also credit to player going to a club who are building up a challenge as I’m sure any of the top clubs would love Craig  Beattie in there squad.

Come on lads , lets not let this thread go the same way as some of the others on here.

I dont think anyone honestly wants Colville to fall away, the most successfull amateur in decades and no one can take that away from them regardless.

The season is almost upon us and we should be discussing who will take over at the top of the amateur game??

The rebuild at Colville should see a changing of the guard and there will be a few teams from the CSAFL who will be fancying there chances of glory this coming season.

Harestanes, Bannockburn, Eastfield & St Pats will all be looking to take over as top dogs im sure.

Out with the Central, the Scottish would seem wide open and again there will be quite a few teams with an eye on that if they get the luck of the draw in the early rounds.

Its shaping up to be an interesting season and one we should be looking forward to and I personally hope Colville park are fully involved in it.

Best of luck to all the CSAFL teams for the coming season.

Redondo a lot of good points be interesting this year think league will be close again not sure quality be as high but might surprise me.

Scottish again be down to luck of draw if top reams avoid each other they will be there as not enough depth of quality in teams , also to many teams want to play on Astro which favours top teams who have  better players , the days of park being a leveller are sadly gone due to councils with grass parks not being maintained and out of use most of year.

Your own team will be very hard to beat and I’m sure you will cause a few upsets on your journey this year.

    Good luck to all clubs.

Think u will find club will survive tug maybe not be as successful but will survive

I really hope they do survive, I’m sure for Andy and Joe seeing this through will mean just as much as winning trophies, however hard it will be at time.

After all that was done for the boys over the years it’s a disgrace the way some of the former players have treated the committee who bent over backwards and more for them only ones who went to Darvel and Chrissy Craig showed any respect towards them

I know been covered but maybe wrong are you not part of committee at Colville during the golden years ? . Players come and go if you are who I think you are you never complained when Mick took players away leaving other clubs short of best players !!! . The fact is it’s a short career unless attached to amateur club from a young age to a club players go where they have a chance to win or play with friends .

Feel for hard working guys at clubs who lose players but the fact is less successful clubs than Colville lose players and survive , if it’s all about winning club won’t survive end off .

Caught the Eastfield game today, some of their play in the middle of the park was excellent at times.

Bannockburn had an absolute mare, congratulations to Colville all the same.

I take it you meant you took in both games today given you thought Bannockburn had a mare and Eastfield were excellent ?

My take being at Bannockburn game gifted 3 goals to a team who were hungrier first to every ball and killed game off after 20 mins after that game was played out with result never in question .

you can’t gift goals to a poor team never mind best team in country at moment .

congratulations to Colville ability,  hard work and desire wins leagues which was shown today in abundance.

I wouldn’t rule out Bannockburn it’s very tight between the 3 of us if BB win their games in hand. BB still have St Pats to play twice and us once so all to play for. We are glad to be in the race we were written off back in Oct-Nov

It’s game on Bannockburn playing really well the now and will be confident in all games they go into

Won’t matter now you will get the 3 points with  players one less game to play before final

    They will crumble.

St pats have Bannockburn twice and Colville to play not sure other games all to play for but if they get beat not sure how you say they crumbled as league played over 22 games for me Colville will win league as proved in past know how to win games at business end of season hopefully wrong and Bannockburn win all games but can’t see it .

FFS read some push on here this takes biscuit.

See if you are from Bannockburn you are not helping team with your pish ,  although I very much doubt you are just another stirring shit ahead of game this week.

With our game being off I took in Bannockburn v steins , strange game Bannockburn really poor in first half and Steins well with their 2-0 lead. Bannockburn much sharper second half but went 3-0 after a mistake by the keeper. Bannockburn battled back and scored 3  quick goals to level before almost sneaking it  at the end with steins keeper making  a great save to deny Bannockburn the win

If Granty scores penalty think Bannockburn go and win easy after that miss they were really poor , not working hard enough to many touches on ball in wrong areas but give Steins credit took chances . Second half i always thought Bannockburn got one they could get more and should have won game in end with chances whether deserved would be up for debate .

Hopefully yesterday be good reminder for people not to get carried away with win last week and focus game this week which should be another cracker of game which could go either way.
