  1. There are around 1000 shareholders in the club. Many with low shareholding’s.
Voting tends to be done on a show of hands this was the case with the resolution we did get added to a meeting. If it was close or was requested it could then go to votes held.

The shares are held by the Trust and the membership is open to all and can change and will change as the years go on. People join re join leave come back etc. Currently there are 115 members but a few years ago it was over 300 when the membership drive was really pushed for the whole close season.

  2. Meanwhile for 24/25 the Queens Trust will be already:

Queens shirt draw entry £450, hospitality package for members draw £280, men’s player sponsorship £180, ladies player sponsorship £60, ladies match sponsorship £50, club shop vouchers for competitions to promote matches £50. Sponsorship of junior blues player of the year award £50, table at player of the year £400, Donation to Community Trust £200. Plus much more….

  3. In reply to Bluenorthener - the Queens Trust currently has 1312 shares. Another 480 shares would take it to 1792.

An increase in shares makes it easier for collaborations to reach the 5% of shares needed to raise resolutions etc.   Or by slowly adding that the Trust itself will one day reach 5%.

No one at Queens has 40%. The largest shareholder (as of the 2023 list at companies house) is David Rae with 24% followed by then Hewitson who has been increasing his shareholding steadily over the years to now be at 9369 which is 6.2%

When the club is losing so many fans and lost over £600,000 in just 3 years then this amount would make hardly any difference if any to the team. Fans are showing that they are keen to support this.  Whilst it is not directly for the club it is for the fans of the club.

That’s what it is about. It is trying to get the supporters and club to have a stronger connection that will hopefully keep people interested and that will help increase support to keep the main money coming in via the turnstiles and sponsorships etc before we lose even more.

  4. The shares are being bought from a private individual who approached the Trust. It is no one connected with either the Trust or any of the clubs directors.

This purchase means that these shares will be in the control of queens fans who are members of the Queens Trust.

There are a couple of benefits such as the more shares the Trust hold the easier it becomes to add a potential shareholder resolution to the agenda at any AGM. Currently it would need to be in co operation with others as it needs 5% of club shares to raise this.

After the Rangers vote The Queens Trust and 77 other shareholders tried to have a resolution raised at an AGM but due to the number of shares between the 78 shareholders not being enough this did not succeed. Every single share extra would have helped to give those 77 shareholders and the Queens Trust members a voice.

Also at an AGM if there was to be a vote on any matter whilst it may start with a show of hands it could be asked to go to the number of shares in which case the more shares held the better - the stronger the voice.

By raising these funds to help towards this share purchase the Queens Trust will still have money to continue to help out the club with all the other things we help with as per normal.

The support for it so far has been fantastic. Thank you very much to all that have contributed.

    Ps: numbers 3, 20 & 73 now sold.

  10. Target reached!

The Queens Trust are delighted to announce that after a recent donation of shares in Queen of the South FC we now have reached and surpassed 1000 shares in the club!

The Trust also has money set aside which was raised specifically for increasing our shareholding in Queens. The club have been contacted but there are no shares available.

If any QOS shareholders would be interested in selling all or part of their shareholding to the Queens Trust please do get in touch.

  11. Hi Palmy Pie

Any questions that we get asked through our own social media channels (Facebook twitter Instagram) or by direct messages to our WhatsApp or email we do our best to answer very promptly.

Share purchase: It is currently still a work in progress. The money is set aside in the Trust account specifically for buying shares in the club. The preferred option was for the club to get the money and that is what we have been trying hard to achieve.

The board has previously told us a number of times that they had an agreement with a major shareholder that they would get the money from the sale of any shares that the shareholder sold.

The Trust wrote to the club who replied that they had no shares available. We then wrote to that shareholder but had no reply so we wrote to them again at a different address but got no reply so we then wrote to them a third time via the club but again have had no reply.

We will discuss what to do next re shares at the next Queens Trust meeting which is on Monday 21st February 2022 at the Queens Arena 7.30pm. The meeting is open to all Queens Trust members. Would be really great to see as many members as possible there.

We did receive a few great donations of shares from Trust members that have us now very close to the long term 1000 shares target. We are currently at 972 shares.

It is 5 years since we tried for fan representation at the club AGM and it has not been mentioned since. The reason we have asked the club to consider it now is that they themselves are asking for suggestions to help on the board. It would be failing our membership and the aims of the Queens Trust if we did not put our name forward.

Whilst the Trust committee is fairly small it represents over 250 fans from a wide variety of backgrounds and with different skill sets.

  12. The Queens Trust are delighted to have been able to help Queen of the South Ladies team with sponsorship for their new away kit.

Here they are pictured before their game yesterday. After a few years with no women’s team it is really great to see them back in action with a new team. Well done to all involved. They have had a super start to the new season with 7 points from the first 3 games. All the best Ladies for the season ahead!

The Queens Trust supporting both Club and Community. This sponsorship and the other work we do is only possible thanks to our Trust members and supporters.

If you can please support our work by joining us for 21/22. Trust memberships are now being taken. Only £10 for the year (£5 concession) and chance to win Queen of the South season tickets.

  13. ‪Before we get ready to start our Queens Trust 2021/22 membership drive we would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all of our Queens Trust members for your super support in 2020/21.

Last year we smashed our membership record with a fantastic 317 members joining the Trust. It is only with your support that we can do the work that we do. So thank you all.

Some of our members from last year are pictured here...‬

  14. The extra £1,500 recently raised on top of the £2,000 plus we have given the club already this season via shirt draws season tickets, sponsorships will certainly help the club.

However you are missing the point which is that it is not the money coming directly from the Trust that will make the difference but it is the money coming from our supporters which will have the biggest impact of all on the club.

  15. As I posted on Facebook earlier:

We will be first offering this fantastic sum raised to Queens in exchange for Club shares.   The Club previously advised us that they had an arrangement with a shareholder where the shareholder would ‘transfer part of their personal share holding to the Trust on the basis that the funds would then be reinvested in the Club so that the club benefits’.   We are hoping that a similar arrangement can be made this time.  If our preferred option is not currently possible, we have other options for buying shares.

Having greater shares will increase the voice of the Supporters Trust and our 315 members.  Five percent of shares are needed to raise a resolution at an AGM.  The more shares the Trust has the easier it will be to collaborate with others to raise resolutions.  When there is a vote at an AGM the size of the shareholding can come into play.

I believe that the success of the Trust’s fundraiser has demonstrated that fans are keen to both support the Club as well to buy shares jointly in the Club sharing in our vision of greater supporter involvement.  The shares of the Queens Trust represent all 315 Trust members.

Supporter involvement in the running of football clubs is a growing movement across the UK as fans look to have greater connections with their local teams.  One example is Morton Club Together supporters group who have over 700 members that are paying in over £10,000 each month as they move towards community ownership. They now have two supporter representative directors at Morton FC.

I feel that greater support and financial investment by fans is there if Queens FC were to embrace their supporters and create an environment of inclusivity.

Ps: Great goal by Queens Trust member and also the player that the Trust sponsor Wullie Gibson!

  16. Thank you for all the super donations to the Queens Trust fundraiser. We have just received an amazing donation in the post today which has helped us reach and smash our money target in less than one week! It takes us to a total of £1,380.  We will shortly close our Just Giving account.

Fantastic support from the community for the Queens Trust and for us buying shares in Queen of the South FC - thank you all very much!
