  1. The Ayrshire mining towns really are dreadful little places, but to be honest the Lanarkshire towns of Kirkmuirhill, Stonehouse, Wishaw, Overton, Larkhall, Lesmahagow, etc are equally bad, if not worse, in places.

Stonehouse in particular is a concentrated little gathering of seething bigotry and hatred crammed into one small hamlet.

Have you every been to Forth in Lanarkshire?

The land that time forgot. Also has the odd house flying union jacks and red hands outside.

  2. shocking incident. Believe the trouble that took place in the green was between "posso" and springburn gangs. With a few of the "posso" mob having connections with the green brigade . This is just what i have heard could be bullshit.

    Dear oh dear oh dear.

I very much doubt the Green Brigade would have been there. Not really their thing.

  3. Is the best way to gain weight just eating a lot?

I'm currently looking to gain weight then turn it into muscle. I've heard that it's mainly down to diet, so I take it eating foods high in protein and eating more than the GDA of calories is the way to go? How would I be able to measure this in an efficient way? (for instance, I just ate a steak, but no-where on the packet did it tell me how much protein/calories it contained). Are protein shakes a waste of time if you eat the correct way? And does anyone have any decent high protein/calorie recipes I can try?

    Steroids

  4. The nostalgia is great but Muirton really was a tired old ground......the supermarket deal & that with Farmer McDiarmid when combined with the work deal the previous couple of years by Geoff Brown & Alex Totten laid the foundations of St Johnstone being a full time Club for the last 25years (they were part time from 85-89 I think).

People slag off McDiarmid but the first 2years where the Club averaged over 7,000 were amazing plus the football was great too.....Perth just seems to have fallen out of love with their team a bit.

I can remember going to Muirton park and there was an ice cream van inside the stadium selling juice, crisps etc. in the away end at a Celtic game. Can somebody please confirm this? I hope it's not some acid addled memory

  5. Ibrox - at the back - and the 2 stadiums which used to stand beside it. Don't know much about Glasgow, so no idea what the other 2 got used for. Anyone elaborate? One is now the (extortionately over-priced) Rangers matchday car park.

Speedway possibly. My Dad goes on about watching a speedway team called the White City Tigers and it was down somewhere near Ibrox Park.

  6. What's the general opinion on Glenlivet? I bought my dad a bottle for Christmas as he normally likes Speyside malts, yet tried my bottle of Glen Moray and didn't rate it.

Have I made a bit of a cock up?

Glenlivet is far superior to Glen Moray, he'll be more than happy with Glenlivet.

It's a very nice dram. Glen Moray is probably the worst Speyside malt imi

  7. On an unrelated note, how many pubs are there in the Barras/Gallowgate?

There must be about 20, how on earth do they all survive. I was down the Barras a couple if months ago and there is a pub right in the middle of it, I think it's called Traders. I really wanted to go in for a pint to sample the atmosphere but the mrs wouldn't have it. :-(

  8. Interesting article by Jackie Bird today in the Sunday Mail about the McCann's. By the looks of it she either thinks that Gerry McCann done it and Kate is covering for him or more probably one of those at the Tapas bar is involved and their other half is covering for them and that when their relationship breaks down the truth will out.

  9. George Galloway today submitted the following motions which should appear on the order paper tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday.British soldiers and sectarianism That this House condemns the reprehensible and ill-disciplined behaviour of members of the Armed Forces including some Royal Marine soldiers at Ibrox Park, the home of Glasgow Rangers, on Saturday 28th September 2013 on what was dubbed an “armed forces' day”; notes the sickening scenes as they chanted songs attacking Catholics, embraced braying fans and held up sectarian banners; questions the role of the senior officers who apparently sanctioned the event and appeared to take no action to halt the behaviour; and demands that those marines who joined in this hatefest are severely disciplined.

Surely that'll be the end of these armed forces days at Ibrox now. Not a bad thing as they are crass and only fuel the notion that most of the soldiers are bigots.

  10. Problems expected today here in sheffield with the EDl. Having a marche as there building another mosque which used to be a pub till about over a year ago. I don't know much about the EDl but do people come around Britain for these marches or is it just people from that city/town?

I hate the EDL/SDL but tbf if they turned my boozer into a mosque I would not be happy.
