A 3G cage is what you find at schools and sports centre's, what Rosyth played in at the Fleet Grounds until they folded. Only one side accessible to spectators, no facilities at all within the fence, portable goals blocked sightlines. Heriot Watt is not much more than a cage, has the two stands of course - but no barrier between the stands and the pitch - otherwise no facilities at all within the fence and one-sided. They must be of shaky ground as well as far as complying with EoS rules with the changing rooms across a road, no toilets, no food/drink kiosk.  Inverkeithing not ideal either but they have at least made a bit of an effort.

Cages are more prevalent amongst the newer clubs in the WoS to be fair, some of them wouldn't get into the EoS.

New Murrayfield Park is a football ground with a 3g pitch (remember, it started out as grass when first redeveloped), proper turnstiles, covered standing, seated stand, disabled area & toilet, large pavilion within the boundary of the ground etc.  It was never what people would understand as a cage.

Tweedmouth, Easthouses, Dunipace and Ormiston are good examples of what smaller clubs can achieve.

    Quite right burnie

Keep playing. Which I suspect is what most coaches and players want to do.

i strongly suspect the season will be f#!%ed which means all the hard work that committees, coaches and players have put in to keep the game going is all likely to have been for nothing.

Now ambitious sides like Kelty, Bonnyrigg and Brora will be denied the chance to progress for a second year in a row.

Interested to know how you think most coaches and players want to keep playing?? Not a dig btw, just interesting to know if you’ve spoke to a lot of players etc. The players / coaches I’ve spoken too are mixed on the subject.

Glasgow has pretty much been in the highest tiers since the pandemic started, with only a very short period where pubs and restaurants were allowed to operate. In that time we have consistently seen the highest number of daily positive tests, highest number of hospital admissions and highest death rate. In all of that time the authorities have been satisfied to let football continue. Does anyone really think if there was a chance football was contributing to the spread of the virus they wouldn't have shut it down before now?

The problem here is the lack of trust. In football we tend to take the view that anyone in authority is incompetent and we could do  better.

The policy of the SG and their advisors has been to protect the NHS and ensure they do not become overwhelmed. I have no reason to believe they are suddenly going to move away from this stance. I understand the fear, but this isn't new for those of us who have been in the highest risk area for the last 10 months. We've been living with those exact same fears since March last year.

Tbh mate, I think it’s very naive to think that football is not contributing to spreading the virus!!  The problem is we don’t know if it is or isn’t.! Until we are completely sure that it isn’t, then it should be stopped.  I love the football and I’m lost without it on a Saturday and during the week, and I really do want it to continue, but I feel it’s too risky at this point and I didn’t think it should of restarted when it did!!

from a selfish point of view I’m happy it’s on and I’m still taking part in football even though I know it’s not helping get rid of this coronavirus. That’s the problem and I’m part of the problem, so are a lot of other coaches, players etc who will know that by turning up in large groups, having contact with each other potentially spreading a virus that they don’t know they have, isn’t helping the pandemic but will continue to do so as it’s allowed!!

it’s the kids I feel sorry for, they can’t play football, they are the future of the game, some of the boys will have missed out on there first year at 7s , 11s , last season before they go to adult football, yet this level is allowed to play. Madness!
If by stopping football at our level for a few months meant the kids got back playing sooner I’m all up for that. If by stopping for a few months helped get rid of this fucking virus quicker I’m all up for that too.
Just my opinion, doesn’t make it right or wrong, we’re never going to all agree on everything.
     Stay safe

I realise there's been a number of postponements recently, but what do people think of friendlies being sanctioned at this time? Seen them organised across the leagues, and just feels rather unnecessary in the current circumstances.

I agree mate, absolutely no need for friendlies with all that’s going on!!

I wonder how the players feel about having to play just now. There will definitely be some players who aren’t comfortable with the situation. Players will be self employed, or have family members with health issues. I would imagine the majority would want to play but there will be some who don’t fancy it but maybe don’t feel confident enough to speak up and say there not playing. Might feel like there letting there teammates and club down.????

    Premier league players only tho.

Only 2 deaths under 44 in the UK from 'covid' I put ' around the because people can have covid and then die 28 days later in a car crash and thus they died from covid.

It has no grave danger to young people. Where is the flu?

    And here is the problem!!!!

It has no grave danger to young people is not the problem!! It’s the spreading it that is the problem!!

people need to think about other  people rather  than just themselves!! That’s one of the reasons we’re back where we are!

imo eos should be shut down until feb as a minimum!! See how it’s looking after that!

Players can still change and clean themselves,  they aren’t being forced home in wet kit.   Even on the worst pitches a change of clothes and a bottle of water work miracles.  Indeed how many players have taken one look at the shower ‘facilities’ in some away grounds and decided not to bother?

So you will have 18 players pouring bottles of water over themselves in the changing rooms/ in the stand after the game, and cleaning themselves with baby wipes?? Perfect 👌

Good stuff. It was properly off limits last season. I think the stairways were even boarded up.

No showers at any level currently IIRC (even SPFL?).

LL and most EOSL have now got access to dressing rooms.

That’s terrible for teams with long journeys. Especially this time of year when most pitches will be mud baths

    Disgraceful stuff.

Don’t see the problem?? It’s the player’s decision. He can’t play amateur just now so why does it matter who he plays for. It’s the team paying £1500 for a player who is going to leave them as soon as amateurs go back, that should have a problem with the deal!!!

Banks o'Dee? Don't think so. Selkirk lost 2-0 up there in 2017. Since cup went all-in Vale's record is:

    2007-08 ... beat Gala 3-1, lost at Culter 1-2
2008-09 ... won at Glasgow Uni 1-0, won at Civil Service 1-0, lost at Inverurie 0-4
2009-10 ... won at Edinburgh Uni 1-0, lost to Keith 1-3
    2010-11 ... lost to Keith 1-3
    2011-12 ... beat Girvan 1-0, beat Cove 3-2, lost at Auchinleck 1-3
2012-13 ... won at Threave 1-0, beat Selkirk 5-1 (after 1-1 draw), lost at Cowdenbeath 1-8
    2013-14 ... lost at Brora 0-1
    2014-15 ... lost at Gala 0-1
    2015-16 ... lost at Wigtown 0-1
    2016-17 ... lost at East Kilbride 1-9
    2017-18 ... lost at Spartans 0-3
    2018-19 ... lost at Gretna 2-3
    2019-20 .. lost at Fort William 0-5

EDIT: Apologies you mean 'Shire in league. Vale won 3-2 at Falkirk a couple of seasons ago.

    Fair enough.

I'm just saying this particular theory - that it helps out when it comes to Scottish Cup - holds no water.

Losing in R1 every season pockets £4,000 at current amounts. If they ever actually won a tie R2 is £5,000 = £9,000. However... if they entered PR1 and won 1 tie is £3,000 + £3,000 = £6,000. If ever won 2 ties and made R1 = £10,000.

Also clearly more liklihood of beating East First Division opponents, South opponents, Girvan, Glasgow Uni, Golspie etc. than LL, HL, cream of tier 6.

Alternatively this season's truncated format suits all (including Vale) as easier to progress from R1 > R2 > R3 > R4.

So if your theory did hold water it would make no difference being in LL or otherwise.

Was meaning vale put 4 past the shire

In the league. They've lost 5-1 at home to Ayr and 4-0 away to Formartine in cup-ties.

In initial season they came fairly close in league: Spartans beat them 4-1 away and Selkirk beat them 7-4 at home (which looks an utterly ludicrous result now).

I’m sure vale put 4 past them a few seasons back? Not sure the final score though??

Did they get a fee for him or did they just release him?? Seems strange they let quality players go for nothing if they claim to be on the bones of there arse??  Or maybe happy to get him off wage bill??

The new managers comments after the thrashing on Saturday offered little hope still waitign to see what we get this time

Sqauds nowhere near big or good enough

Not a good start, but got to get behind yanni and the team. It’s difficult times just now, and hard to get players in. Yanni knows his stuff though and will be as gutted as anyone about the start. Give him time and he will get results, will take time with a younger squad.

Craig Meikle signs for Boness yet couldnt commit any future to ww ?

It’s different being a manager of a club, than just turning up as a player when your needed. Really need to be 100 % committed to being a manager and it’s much more than just training twice a week and game on a Saturday. He packed in whitehill in about April /May,  It’s now October. He obviously thought his business would be back up and running by now and he would need to put all his time into that. As we know it’s no worked out like that. What is a suprise is yanni hasn’t got him back playing for ww, considering the amount of goals they have conceded. Maybe he did ask him, who knows????

100k for a squad of 22 is about 100 a week so teams at this level will defos have budgets of that i dont know what tranent pay but ide think they have players on more than 100/week

Most clubs will only pay wages for about 40 weeks out the year( I heard Berwick we’re paying 52 weeks).  An average of £100 a week per player, is only gonna be affordable for a select few clubs. Most teams will be well below that I would think.

Brad finished the 18/19 season with me and played a few games and then he had a great season for me up until the season was ended early so he has been playing mate. He has so much potential and is a class act.

Delighted to get him back at a better level where his talent belongs.

Didn’t realise he was back playing mate. As I said if he’s fit and playing regularly he’s a good player, and a good laddie. Good luck too him.

You’ll probably find every manager than moves to a new team takes boys he’s previously had that he knows well and trusts. We don’t have any playing budget so we won’t be able compete financially with anyone. Very happy with who we have been able to get in, including the 3 so far from Leith that noboby would have said were predictable  given how good a season they had.

As for being disappointed because we have the same sponsor, how ridiculous is that comment?

Your wasting your time explaining yourself to some people on here mate.

currie, Scott Wilson & Dicko great signings.
