  2. Plays for Ballingry. Think he made a couple of sub appearances for Forfar last season without impressing enough for a permanent deal.

To be fair I remember John McGlynn crediting him with five points in our title winning season. I don't remember all the specifics, but I do remember being at Hampden when he set up Kevin Smith for a 93rd minute tap-in to beat Queen's Park 2-1. We wouldn't have won the game without him, so he did us a job.

He was shite though. Sure he tore the youth leagues apart but never scored for the first team?

Had a wee look to see where the other youth 'stars' of that generation are. Colin Wilson is at Musselburgh, Jamie Mackie and Craig Wedderburn at St Andrews, Tam Graham is unattached having left Rosyth, Andy Walls is at Lochee, Liam Amos at Newtongrange, Kevin Brown who received wild reviews on his one and only first-team appearance is at Kelty Hearts, Jason Darling plays for Dalkeith, Danny Main is at Bo'ness. Graeme Beveridge and Christian Nanetti (remember him?) appear to be the only two playing at a semi-decent level - Elgin and Havant & Waterlooville. So to sum up, we've not missed out on anybody.

And a certain Ross Laidlaw and Ross Callachan appear to be starring for a side three points off the top of the Scottish Championship. 8)

Colin Wilson plays for Montrose now

  3. Well done Rovers!

Compliments for transparency by publishing it on the main website. A very interesting reading. This all gives hope for the future. Not only sportive but also financially the club is heading in the right direction. With the good cup runs this year plus extra money coming in from league construction this seasons result could be even better (and I even didn't mention possible play offs).

Well done board, players, staff and everyone else involved in the club. Very much an example how a football club should be run.

  4. A mate of mine is part of the Celtic FFIT team (football fans in training). They are looking for teams who they can play against. He asked if there are Raith fans interested in making a team.

The criteria are that you have to be over 40 and that you are not an ex player.

Firstly I’m trying to see if there is enough interest for it (11-14 players are needed). If so, then the details are going to be worked out (where, when, etc.)

So...are there any fans who are interested?

Let me know on here or sent me a PM (also if you have any questions).

  5. This pre season so far has been very positive and full of expectations. Murray has the first part of the job right, getting rid of players who he thinks are not up to standard and getting the right players in. Big compliments to Murray for that. Now its time for the second part of the job: the team to gel and make it an attractive playing and winning team. I have trust in Murray to do that.

The biggest win IMO will be when Raith will get an attractive playing style and attract more crowd. Or with other words that Raith will be so much fun to watch. I rather see the team win 3-2, 4-3, etc. then a scrappy 1-0. Last season we didn't score too much and depended too much on Graham and Spence. I hope this year more players will chip in goals. It makes our team less predictable and much harder to defend.

I just hope the expectations now at the start will not be too high. In case the team is no there yet at the start of the season I hope fans will stay positive and stay behind the team. IMO the team can reach the play offs. Lets hope the season stay so positive as the feeling of many fans is now.

  6. For the lovers of statistics:

Just been looking at Gordon Smiths stats. He hasn't played much last seasons. Last season loads on the bench at Hearts but only played a handful of games.

Year before (2011/2012) more of the same at Hearts and had a 2 month spell at Hamilton.

In the 2010/2011 season he had a good (loan) season at Stirling in which he sored 12 goals (2 of them was against us at Starks Park, 2-0 win Stirling and 2-1 win Rovers) and 5 assists.

Also noticed he picks up easily yellow cards, 11 at Stirling and 2 at Hamilton (in just 3 matches).

    Btw he isn't 6'3 but 6'

  7. An interesting part is "and once our remaining targets return from holiday, manager Grant Murray will complete this vital part of our preparations for the first season under the Scottish Professional Football League banner".

Andy Barrowman has been linked and is currently in Las Vegas, whilst Cardle is in Dubai (according to their twitter accounts). Could be making 2+2 and getting the completely wrong answer but certainly ties up to the rumours going about.

That's what I thought as well....and if not them it surely suggests that contracts been agreed with players...

  8. I think there's more money available to us because of the departures of the likes of Walker, Graham and Hamill, all of whom would have been on higher wages than we're probably offering today. At least I hope that's the reason.

Don't forget the departure of Malone and Mensing who probably wont be on peanuts as well. Then already present players been offered lower wages. Keeping all that in mind must surely mean we still can sign at least 3 good decent players.
