Ok fair enough, at least you’ve cleared things up a bit. Maybe if we see an update once and a while in the future so we know what’s going on, rather than silence, the speculation wouldn’t wouldn’t be so negative.

I’ll keep an eye on the Facebook page and maybe even drift over for a game with the bairn. But the thought of crowds of 20odd in a league of 7 others, plus 2 reserve teams isn't the most appealing to me at the moment, if that is even the league you are in... can’t find any info without trawling through previous posts on here from other clubs as to the new league structure. Also especially as my hometown team will be playing in 4 towns all around you this season, they too (literally) had f all to start with 20 years ago and pull 200 crowds each week now, I might be preoccupied.

I might stretch it for an Armadale or Whitburn game, but Fauldhouse are my local team from the East juniors at the moment so I’ll try to get there at some point... again no idea from a quick online search whether they are in the same division as you next season so I might end up not bothering

We may not have the biggest support in the world but I don't think I've witnessed a competitive game where the turnout numbered 20 odd. Oh and no that's not the league we're in. We're in the East Superleague South, where the full fixture list for the coming season has been known for some time. It was posted to both out Facebook and Twitter accounts a couple of weeks ago.

For avoidance of doubt, and to help you plan your next visit to the creamery, I've attached the fixtures .

I hope you are both right, it’s something that’s bugged me for a while that I never mentioned before... but when the initial post was made, the reaction just confirmed everything I feared.

I find it unbelievable that a town the size of Bathgate, with it’s wide range of demographics, can get it so wrong when it comes to their local team. When others seem to engage and attract from a MUCH smaller pool of potential punters... it doesn’t sit right with me.

The fact that’s 3 folk have piped up on here that I never even knew existed, where have you all been over the last few years?! Is it too much to post once in a while to tell us what good things you are up to? Other teams in your league seem to manage, and whether we agree or not with their point of view, we respect the fact that it looks like they actually CARE about their team... not just jump to the defence because someone has called them out for what looks like a complete lack of interest from within.

I'm not going to argue. Although in recent years the committee has been really small and the lack of engagement hasn't been deliberate, more a consequence of lack of time/ability (when it comes to social media etc.) as efforts have went into other areas of actually running the club. You could make the point that decisions made 20 or so years ago have brought us to this catch 22 situation.

Personally, I've had numerous people reach out to me and point the finger at the club not doing X,Y or Z. But when you calmly explain the situation and ask if there's anything they can do to help, be it big or small, they vanish without trace. So we keep going with the same faces. If you, or anyone else, thinks the club could do anything better and can provide assistance in rectifying it, I know they'd bite your arm off.

Refering to your first paragraph, I think that's the problem.  People catch wind of something and like to have a guess at what's happening. Without learning what's actually going on.

    So there was an EGM.

Main sponsor - related to bloke that runs DEM Master - is pulling out.

Willie  Hill no longer putting money in - he was until last season.

    Need £15K to keep going

    Only 2 committee members.

If you dont think that there means the club is in danger get your head out of the sand.  I am not happy about this by the way. Decent club with great facilities.

Not too far off on the above, apart from the number of committee, and whether or not Mr Hill will be offering some sponsorship.

The main point of the EGM was to get as many new faces into behind the scenes as possible due to the aging and small (now smaller) committee. Looking for new ideas on going forward and how best to reach out to the community etc.

The playing side of the club is probably the best it's been for a good number of years, but helps required on match days and publicising news about the club.

Overall it was a very positive meeting and we should be stronger behind the scenes for the coming year.

I find it absolutely astonishing that, over the last few weeks with all these comings and goings in east region, that not one public announcement has come from SJFA or ERJFA.
All the club's holding EGMs, seem to be clear about 1 thing, uncertainty.
The Juniors needed to publicly set out their stall; this is why you should stay, this is what it looks like, this is what we are going to do in the future....
    But nothing.
You could almost believe that they are happy to see clubs go.
These same clubs appear to be powerless though. There is no way they should be putting up with this. Some clearly aren't.

Totally agree. The silence from the sjfa makes me think (tin hat time) they're happy for the east to implode, that way they don't have a headache of trying to suss out what to do with the east juniors when pushing a west sl etc that's part of the pyramid structure at the same level as Eos.

The handling of this whole thing has been utterly shameful by both the sjfa and ersjfa.

It doesn't help all the underhand tactics of the Eos by constantly moving the goalposts. How many deadlines have we had now? Every time the date has moved it's caused more confusion resulting in teams panicking and leaping into the unknown.

Those teams that set out their stall early doors (like Dalkeith) clearly done some research and after much deliberation came to a conclusion the Eos was best for them. All the moves from teams in the last few days/week simply stinks of panic and desperation. To move to Eos simply cos your neighbours are is a little sad.

Well I havent seen any statement from any club leaving the juniors  thats that says they will get more money from just joining EOS league.

Not seen an official statement from anyone either. I've spoke to a couple of committee men from club's moving at games this season, and like JC says, they state it's a financial decision. They expect more money handed to them and that's the only reason for going. Some even admitted it was a poorer league (at the time).

I spoke to some who ridiculed moving to Eos but that's exactly what their club is now doing.

Personally I'm still undecided. I can't help but feel all the recent defectees (those that only decided to move in the last couple of days) have adopted a lemmings mentality.

OK, I'll have a go, but I am now getting to the stage of losing the will again and I feel am trying to convince the inconvincible and, to a degree, the hostile on this thread.

My stance now on this is mainly a defence of Talbot's position, shared by a lot of clubs, which is concern of losing their identity. If I may will use my club as the main example, but justify by saying other clubs, and fans of, would readily endorse the sentiment.

In a way, has been echoed elsewhere, Talbot are in a unique position and it could be strongly argue they are the quintessential Junior club from a the most partisan Junior area. They owe much of that to the equally unique world that is Junior football,  a club from a village has realised and maintained success that most other clubs can only dream of,  and it is heartily felt that the environs of the grade and an area that has embraced that culture has as much to do with the success as hardworking committees or large crowds, although part of that is why the crowds are as good.

Why do I believe it is unique? Because over 40 years of watching it I have witnessed tremendous occasions with massive crowds that at times most clubs in Scotland in any grade would envy. I'm still gobsmacked that despite Talbot 13 Scottish Junior finals in 30 years, they still pack out to the gunnels the East Stand at Rugby Park, no complacency from familiarity. Even last year when they weren’t playing well and not favourites. I believe that Talbot's continuing success is because of the Junior Football heritage in East Ayrshire. I have been to a few SOS and EOSL games, but see no evidence that it would generate even a glimpse of the passion or commitment I have witnessed over the years in Ayrshire. Big Scottish ties against Bonnyrigg, Linlithgow and Bo'ness have been equally thrilling as the all Ayrshire affairs, as with Pollok and Rob Roy.

To compare this with the sanitised sterile atmosphere of some senior games, especially the less well supported that can be  over priced, over stewarded, void of atmosphere. Yes I know that there are great parts of the senior game and there are Junior games which are nothing like those described, but at the top end Juniors when it's good it is special. For me whatever is left of that should be harnessed and part of the new set up. Opening up the Junior Cup would be beneficial in this and for other non-league clubs I’m sure.

It probably won’t for some, but I hope that it does explain why Talbot and other Junior clubs have trepidation. As with most things cultural a lot of it can’t be measured in units and is difficult to assess exactly. However, I stand by it and suggest that having the biggest Junior clubs in a pyramid with a forum where they can retain and foster that identity would be good for all.

There's no denying what Talbot have achieved is outstanding and a benchmark most club's at our grade to aim for.

The above sounds like you enjoy being a big fish in a small pond (nothing wrong with that, and is probably the same reason Linlithgow didn't apply), but the main fear is you won't win everything in sight year on year should you be swallowed up by the pyramid. I totally understand your fear as this would obviously have an affect on other areas, such as attendance which then has knock on effects such as less money coming through the gates etc. A possible slow spiral into mediocrity. I think this is what you mean by "losing there identity".

This is now a everybody must leave the juniors post ..absolute garbage .if clubs want yo leave let them go .I would urge the beaks to expel any clubs turned down by the eosfl. As for clydebank the WEST region should show them the door .if they don't want to be junior goodbye . NOW LET THE REAL JUNIOR CLUBS CONTINUE IN SCOTLAND'S BIGGEST NON LEAGUE GRADE ..

Imagine your meltdown if it turned out Armadale had submitted an eos application

  8. Looking to change and can't decide between the Mercedes C62 amg (Don't mind which class) or the Audi twin-turbocharged 4.2-litre V8?

Get the Mercedes. That's generally considered to have the best v8 engine Mercedes ever produced. I'm sure it's the same engine in the sls and is about to be discontinued to be replaced by a 4 litre twin turbo number.

If I was lucky to be in your position I wouldn't think twice. Plus any Mercedes looks a million times better than any audi.
