Before I say what I’m about to, let me caveat that l think a lot of the communication and work your board has put in place has been very good.  Whether it can be sustained, up to them and you.  I do wish I’d hear more from our current board and investors but they pays their money so their gig.

If those figures are right and encompass all the ins and outs (I’m using approximation for speed) am I right in working out it adds up to a calendar year loss of £342,000?

I think you've simplified it a bit too much - What they've presented is an analysis of income and expenditure over part of the financial year, not all of it. There will be an up to date forecast somewhere that will have things like end of season cup ticket money, and league and cup prize money forecast in.
I would imagine they will have revised attendance forecasts for some of the games to come - possibly revised upwards if we are competing for the league title. I would expect they may also no be factoring in revenue from at least one potential play off match, although not certain!

On the commercial deals, when it comes to actually preparing the formal accounts, any multi year sponsorship deals should be accounted for using the Revenue Recognition standard which states you should only recognise revenue for the reporting period.

In simple terms,  - if company A has paid up front fully for a 5 year deal, you'd hold 4 years of that income on the balance sheet, and only recognise one year of revenue in the P&L. Your balance sheet then carries the remaining balance, which reduces over the next 4 seasons.

How many of those extra fans are free U12s-they must be spending a fortune at the pie stall mind you.

This is where the club are missing a trick to bring in more revenue, and needs to improve for both the income point of view, and fan experience. From around 2:20 onwards on a Saturday, the queues for the concession stalls are long and move so slow compared to the majority of other clubs we've visited this season. To the extent that I reckon a lot of folk don't bother!  A bit more thought and a couple of extra staff / bit of thought around pop up pie stalls could easily bring the club in a bit more money.

I forgot to reserve seats on our train to Frankfurt airport in the morning after the Hungary game. Is that likely to be an issue? I’ve seen a few mentions now of it being a good idea to reserve seats.

you can go back in and add to your booking for 5 euro. - depends how long the train is if you dont mind standing!

  4. For those looking at trains, the super saver tickets came on over the Christmas period. some of the ICE trains were bookable for 10-15 euros. Just mind add a 5 euro seat reservation on. Alternatively, if you travel in a group of 5+ you get a free group seating reservation. Managed to get all our trains booked out and back for the 3 matches from our base in Frankfurt for under 150£ per person.

If you have a match ticket, you'll be able to book the 30/40 euro one way special fares when they open up late Jan. You need a match ticket to do this though, as this will act in place of a rail card, and theres specific timings when you have to use them. IE match day and early hours of the next morning. Your journey needs to be completed by 10am the morning after the match.

Travelling to the matches of the European Football Championship 2024 with the DB Ticket Euro 2024 (bahn.de)

Remember as well, if you have a match ticket, on the day local transport is included with that.

I'm asking on behalf of someone else, but does anyone know of any TA buses, or buses in general, that are leaving the Fife/Central Belt area that are going over?

I think Club 100 Tartan Army Motherwell are doing one to Munich. - i remember seeing it advertised on one of the Tartan Army facebook groups not long after the draw.

I looked at organising one for the Dunfermline TA end of last summer, but it was looking around 10/11k for an out and back for one match, plus hotels and expenses for the driver(s), but a lot of folk were intending staying out for a few games, so couldnt make it work.

Interview with the gaffer on RaithTV -

Really good interview with Murray - defo worth a listen. Seems to really enjoy the new structure, talked well about the signings, and spoke about where the squad needs strengthened - particularly at the back. Hopeful of a couple of signings in the next week.

Connolly out for a spell - prob 4-6 weeks before he's back.

Thought maybe they could have asked about the Dundee thing, but no mention - ach well - he's still here, seems to be raring to go!

Player sponsorship is £275 home and £275 away (£275 includes vat)

last time I did it, it was £200 + vat

when I asked last week there were very few players left.

Aye - this is correct - current shirt sponsors all got an email a couple of weeks ago to confirm by 30 May whether we wanted to continue for next season.

Can’t say I’m shocked the prices are increasing as everything seems to be going up these days (wages excluded) and we were not exactly the highest last season with Morton I recall charging £22.  Never been a fan of Category matches but I guess at this level you need to maximise revenue where you can and bigger games always attract more walk up home fans and away supports. Soon find out if the prices are right or not by the attendances next season.

I just naturally assumed that the Cat 1 price was due to paying for additional policing, security, mobile CCTV,, associated with the much larger crowds for those 2 matches. Both these games could easily go into the 4-5,000 bracket.

Theres a lot of work going on to upgrade the stadium. That doesn't come free. And as mentioned, inflation is another key factor. Costs will be up, Electrictiy will be massively up on a couple of years ago, and not coming down any time soon. Players, when renegotiating their contracts, and club staff will also be well within their rights to ask for wage rises relative to inflation. Nothing is getting cheaper just now. Not sure why people expect football clubs to be immune to that.

I'm in the 'What was the point of that?' camp.

Its good to test ourselves against different nations, in different locations. Clarke mentioned the impact of the long flight on the players. We've got a similar distance trip next year to Tbilisi, so defo learnings from that.
The crowd was fairly hostile, and the conditions pretty dreadful. It rained most of the day in Diyarbakir and the pitch wasnt particularly great.
So lots of things can be taken from it.

But more than anything else, we were required by UEFA to play a match. and after a few of the other as pre world cup opponents fell through, there weren't many teams left available to play.

  11. We've played some really decent football in the without the results going our way, but the work rate has definitely been there, and was great to see it all come together on Saturday. Stanton, Brown, Connolly, O'Riodran and Dick in particular have given us a really solid spine of the team. Squad is getting stronger, players back from injury, players upping their game to stay in the squad. On current form, Nolan, Matthews, Gullan will struggle to get back in to the starting line up.

Defo need to try keep O'Riordan for the season if we can. he's been excellent.

  12. Thought we dug in well last night, but again, clear to see why we are where we are in the league. Scrappy first half impacted by the crap conditions, but second half i thought both teams played some decent stuff.

Couple of cracking saves from MacDonald. Back 4 did well - Dick has been excellent alongside O'Riordan who looks a class above. Midfield got stuck in, usual hard working effort. Still lacking up top. Freidreksen looks like he still needs to settle in, and those 2 chances that Connell missed late on sum up our season so far. Need to start putting them away!

A good 3 points though. Hard fought. Edged the game, fair result, and saw it out well.
