Are you aware of the fact that in Northern Ireland spending exceeds tax by a massive 39.3% of its GDP?
I'm not agreeing with any of those trolls trolling you but think that you should be aware of such facts as the GDP of the state that you are discussing.
How much of the massive 39.3% excess is spent upon policing and security that would not be required if it wasn't for the rabble rousers?
Is there a website or document to view the official figures for Northern Ireland and Wales?

Paulo, why can't you be patriotic towards Scotland without having some bizarre complex towards everywhere else. The type of Nationalism which involves reeling off reasons that your country is better than anywhere else is pretty off-putting. That's Northern Ireland, "Southern" Ireland (top insult) and particularly England that I've noticed you seethe towards.
I was partly looking for a bit of reaction, Sodje.
Although Scotland's great history of invention and discovery etc can be something well worth bringing up at times.

The big question here is whether we want an independent Scotland or not, but an equally important question should be whether the rest of us want Northern Ireland to remain part of the UK. Why shouldn't we have a say on this as well?
I'd love us to become an official atheist/agnostic state post-independence.

Scotland one of the most advanced countries in the world? I'm sure the rest of G8 are planning a visit to learn how to catch up.
Hardly surprising to read a comment like this given your already rotten contribution to the thread.
I think you'll find that more or less every G8 country gets pumped senseless in standard of living, quality of life, general happiness, equality, GDP per capita and HDI tables by nations like Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Switzerland.

Don't think any of the inventors on your list are accurate, and penicillin was being used be Arabs centuries before.

Is it really a fact about "the number of incredible things we have done for the world and given that, proportionately, we have more universities in the QS top 100 rankings than any other nation on Earth." Could you perhaps publish these world wide university tables?

I could list ten incredible Scots and their contributions to the world and they would compare with any other nation in the world. Lets see:
John Logie Baird - invented the television
Alexander Graham Bell - invented the telephone
Andrew Carnegie - steel tycoon and one of the richest men in history, helped revolutionise the modern city and the USA
Alexander Fleming - discovered penicillin, one of the most important discoveries in the history of mankind
David Hume - one of the most important figures in the history of Western philosophy
James Hutton - the father of modern geology
David Livingstone - Africa's most famous explorer, the first (Westerner) to discover Victoria Falls
James Clerk Maxwell - unified electricity, magnetism and optics into a consistent theory, he's third only to Einstein and Newton
Adam Smith - the father of modern economics
James Watt - invented the first useful steam engine, which ultimately brought about the industrial revolution
The scary thing is, people like Joseph Black, Robert Watson-Watt and James Young Simpson (to name but a few) aren't even on my list, as well as many great Scottish writers. Then there are folk like James Cook and Peter Higgs who have a Scottish mum or dad and are therefore half-Scottish. It's incredible really.
When you're done with that, how is the Falkirk political scandal a unionist one; it is a Labour one?
Good Lord.

Son of VT beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Same clichéd buzzwords in place of an argument
Huh?
The phrase "thanks for playing" is pretty popular, granted vikingTON says it also.
same overbearing arrogance as to Scotland's place in things, and same deflection from the original point.
I was dealing in facts and was spot on in what I said. Cheers.

Meanwhile Falkirk is at the centre of political corruption and has it's fair share of dole bleeding spongers, not to mention the low IQ shocker. Generalisations are great aren't they?
Well... the political scandal is a unionist one for starters, and as for what you are claiming to be 'generalisations': they aren't. Scotland is not subsidised in any way, shape or form - Norn Iron is. I wouldn't question the intellect of Scots either given the number of incredible things we have done for the world and given that, proportionately, we have more universities in the QS top 100 rankings than any other nation on Earth.
Thanks for playing anyway.

I can't imagine what it must be like to have so much hatred that you feel compelled to do this sort of thing.
I thought that Norn Iron had "moved on" nowadays?

Why are the great people of Scotland subsidising these vagabonds?
