I’m not a big fan, thought he was particularly poor last night.   Neilson must also take some blame for playing him, Butcher and Harkes in the same team.

This is the main problem. Three players who all do the same job, like to sit in front of the defence and offer no creativity or penetration. Butcher and Powers particularly should never play together. The one time Powers played by himself in midfield he looked good, we were excellent as a team and thrashed Thistle away.

Thought we really struggled to get to grips with the formation for the first half hour or so but it seemed to just click at some point and from then on our shape was great and the game was only ever going one way.
I think Neilson deserved at least some criticism for our performances during a spell at the start of the season, but today really convinced me that we have a very good manager on our hands. Really wasn’t easy to put a balanced team out with only one fit central midfielder but the system worked perfectly once we got going.
Powers and Banks probably the stand outs along with Shankland obviously who was just unplayable. Good to see Pawlett back too, he blows hot & cold but still has a lot to offer.

    Banks wasnt playing

Glass even. Whoever 21 was. First time I’d seen him tbh, looks a player.

Job done, still top, very nice.

It's probably significantly more recent than I can think, but when was the last time we won 6 League games in a row?

March 2012 apparently, after a 3-0 win against Dunfermline. Also beat Rangers in that run. We did lose in the cup mid way through against Celtic in a game where Robbie Neilson was sent off.

  5. Huge opportunity here to give ourselves a bit of breathing space at the top. A win would put us 9 points clear with Ayr not playing again until the very end of the month. Would be ideal if we could try and make this season as stress-free as possible but it’d be typical of us to drop points here.

Having said that, 2-1 United, Clark double, late consolation goal for Queens

  6. As long as Neilson learns from the last two games it’ll go down as nothing more than a minor blip. He’ll be well aware of where we went wrong, I just hope he’s not too stubborn to change things back. I don’t think he was necessarily wrong to try and bring Pawlett into the team but it hasn’t worked out and he needs dropped.

I thought Dundee United would have brought on Shankland and Appere seeing they were struggling for a goal.

I thought Appere was our only decent player today tbh.

Again we looked much better with Harkes on the pitch and Butcher centre back, although it was too late. Clark’s sitter would’ve changed the game too, can’t say you’ve been hard done by when you miss chances like that.

I’ve tried to be positive the last few weeks but that was honking Thought the signings were universally terrible today and Sow clearly hasn’t been fit since the moment he arrived.
Connelly is starting to piss me right off, loves a self indulgent interview on arabzone and to scream at his teammates but he was absolutely bitched by McDonald all game and the number of times he let the ball bounce only for someone to turn him or have the ball end up in behind him was disgraceful.

Connolly and Reynolds today were as bad a centre back pairing as I’ve seen over the last few years.

Our defenders were awful last night but who determined the policy of hoof ball?  Bad enough in normal times, crazy in strong swirling winds.

Our players’ inability to adapt to conditions is terrible.

It was actually laughable. Somehow we seemed disadvantaged by the wind in both halfs. 2nd half their strikers were just dropping off, waiting for the high ball to hold up in the wind then taking it in completely unchallenged.

Why the f**k won't the team fight for anything. Looked like they were just going through the motions tonight.

Had a chance to go top ffs and never strung more than a couple of passes together.

    Looked like rabbits in headlights.

Pretty sure whenever we’ve had the chance to go top over the last four years we’ve lost every game. Different players, different managers but nothing seems to change on the pitch.
