Cowden were better team by far in 1st half and Rose better team in 2nd but overall you guys shaded a fairly poor game where neither keeper had much to do.

Maybe time for a change at the top!!!

Dolly and Blue 8 take a different view on the match but both make points I can agree with.

Celtic B are fit as a butchers dog.  Their style of play is first touch control it, second touch pass it and move into space......all done at pace.    Its hard for part time players to match that.

BUT.........the BU's were careless with the ball.    .........and why oh why did we keep punting long balls to see who would win a foot race between Fin and the Celtic defenders.  (Spoiler- Fin lost)

Nobody was criticising the management, the very opposite, they’ve done a great job. The point I was trying to make was that we have most of the top teams still to play away from home and today we didn’t compete. The points that blue 8 makes about full time training and fitness is true but it was also true when we beat them earlier in the season. We’ve also done really well against the big spenders, EK, Tranent etc. so we’ve shown we can compete,

  4. The team have had a lot of credit recently and rightly so, but today we never laid a glove on Celtic, didn’t win a second ball all game and generally didn’t compete. Hopefully just a blip but we’ve got a number of  difficult away games coming up, so we need to do improve on today’s performance

It turned a bit sour at points but overall Max Christie took the BU's forward.

Dave, ur a great BU supporter but even the great don’t always get it right. Max is a toxic manager and has been at every club he’s managed. Bonnyrigg, Broxburn, Bo’ness and Tranent.
your much used “in Max we trust” I’m afraid is now resting on the Titanic

  6. Took a couple of friends to the game on Saturday and both made the same comments about the refereeing.
He didn’t let the game flow, blowing up for every tackle.

In the 2nd half every foul ended with him showing a yellow card, many of them for trivial offences. Probably missed MOTD writing up his reports
Turns out he was being observed by a supervisor and didn’t have a good game but maybe they shouldn’t be told they’re being watched until after the game.

I seem to remember a similar situation this season against Hearts B

Not convinced about what? That you're a slavering prat!???....

If you mean the pitch then I can assure you that it was playable as the 20 or so volunteers who worked hard to make it so would testify.

Typically now that snow has stopped it looks playable, but terraces would need cleared of the snow.

Imagine this clown calling anyone a slevering prat. No decent discussion just spouts utter crap

The BU defensively were solid today. Musa was beaten by a cracking (wind assisted) freekick that no keeper would have saved.

Johnston and Irving as the defensive midfielders played well.

Up front there were sooooo many opportunities which were not taken.  Hitting the bar, good saves, blocks aplenty etc, etc but the bottom line is the forwards need to be making more, much more of the chances.  By the time we were awarded that very unexpected penalty we SHOULD have been 4 or 5 goals up.    Far too often shots were delayed or final passes poorly executed.

We need to be a lot more clinical in the final third.

Another three points which are always welcome but a couple of concerns from yesterday’s game. As Dave says we should have put the game to bed by half time but our forwards kept taking either an extra touch or not getting their shot away.

After losing the goal to the Gretna free kick, our game management went to pot for the final 15 minutes, which we’re normally pretty good at and we ended up kind of hanging on a bit.

Agaist a better team it could have cost us.

With 3 senior players not available today we still got 3 points not one of our best game but at the end of the day  is 3points in the bag roll on next Saturday hopefully the boy's will turn on the style

Happy we won but  didn’t give a lot of confidence going into next week’s game. Unfortunately the three senior players who were not available, are important to the spine of the team and hopefully will be available for the Morton game.

Toddled along today and in the end a draw was a fair result, although Hearts should have had BU buried by half time. However the home side came out after the break and really took the game to Hearts and had them rattled. Some ropey goalkeeping on both sides.  Goal line clearance right at the end to saved a hard earned point for BU.

The first Hearts penalty was absolutely correct, the defender slid in and got nowhere near the ball, the only thing that was debatable was it was very close to the edge of the box (in or out?). Second penalty I didn't see clearly but the BU players didn't complain too much which tells a story, the players arm was well away from his body.

Second yellows on both sending offs didn't strike me as poor decisions.

Referee was pretty inconsistent but hardly the worst, a bit card happy maybe, but the BU fans really are some bunch, complain about absolutely everything and calling the ref a cheat was hilarious.

A really good game to watch in crap conditions.

Toddled along in the pissing rain my arse. You’re either on the wind up or you’re related to that inept clown of a referee, so toddle off and take your stupid comments with you

  11. Heard a lot of supporters saying the referee was a cheat but I think he was just hopeless. He was totally out of his depth and when clowns like him are getting fast tracked thru the system then it’s easy to see why the VAR disgrace that happened last week occurred.

Similarities to Kevin Clancy inept and totally useless

I can’t comment on yesterday as no there but talking to someone who was at the game thought darvel were better team and Bo’ness goalie outstanding however that doesn’t take away from the last 2 results which have been terrible and will have blown a massive hole in the budget for this season , however I can comment on signings this season ,some have been ok some have been terrible , he said early on youth would get a chance so small and urquhart seemed to suggest that would be the case , small out  on loan already and urquhart asked away and honestly 20k for Moore Cumnock must have seen them coming , it’s probably about 18 k more than the boy is worth , to say he’s been poor is an understatement ,and one or two of the signings have been ok but still nowhere near the level of the players who left the club , it could be a long winter as we haven’t played beith , Clydebank or pollok yet and if we had to lose a couple of them the season would be about over , to be messaging this middle Of September isn’t good

As a Boness supporter at yesterday’s game I would agree that Darvel shaded the 1st half and our goalkeeper was superb. After we scored the 2nd goal I feel that Boness were in full control and their game management saw them comfortably though with the bonus of a third goal.

For a team with the pedigree that Darvel have, the travelling support was very poor. Looked like they arrived in two cars and a bike. Disappointing!!

Great result and a lot off outstanding individual performances

Well said Arnie, it was a great result, which most of us hoped for but weren’t over confident about. As you said a lot of outstanding performances but I’d make a special mention for Musa, he was fantastic, Gemmell who must have covered every inch of the park and Irvine, who wasn’t well known to the BU support before the game but looked as if he had been playing every game.

Sitting with a glass of red wine and feeling good !!!

  14. A very much needed win today, and a good performance as well. The pitch didn’t do the players any favours with some strange bounces of the ball.

Stenhouse was outstanding 1st half but in general the team played well and deserved the win.

We’ve a run of home games coming up so hopefully we can build on today and keep it going

  15. Another 3 points, very welcome, but a big wake up call for Stuart and Michael. We had so many players below par today but we showed good spirit to come back from 2-1 down to win.

In the 1st half we hardly won a tackle, and I can’t remember us winning a second ball in the whole half. Thankfully Musa was outstanding with his MOTM performance.

On a positive note, the 3rd and 4th goals could be candidates for goals of the month, with a special mention for Ryan who topped off a good performance with a fantastic run and finish.

Five wins from five games is way better than anyone dared hoped for, so a big well done to everyone concerned with the club.

  16. I think the new management team have had an almost impossible job to assemble a side in such a short space of time. In the two games so far, it hasn’t helped without a recognised goalkeeper or that McArthur seems to have his head turned elsewhere, he’s a shadow of last seasons player.

some of the new guys seem useful but up front still looks a problem, but they need to be given time before judgements are made.

    let’s see what Tuesday brings

The "fault" for this mess lies with Max Christie AND Ian Little.  The former offered a position, the later accepted it.   Pair of chunts.

    What are you suggesting?

I support the team but I do not believe that just because a player wears a blue jersey doesn’t mean he is any good,or beyond criticism.

I have no hidden agenda or anything of the sort ,so please refrain from even suggesting such nonsense.

It should not take money to win the Lowland league although I appreciate it helps.Better recruitment and coaching is surely possible even on a tight budget.

As I have previously said Bo’ness United have never been awash with money.Success has previously been achieved with good players. The reality is there are not enough in the current squad and resigning most of what is there is simply asking for more under achievement next season.

This happy clappy way of watching a team is simply sticking your head in the sand thinking that average players are going to improve. They won’t Just because they may be great guys to talk to etc.is not what it’s about.Give me 11 arseholes who produce better football  performances than have been witnessed the past two seasons any day of the week .
This is where a good man manager becomes invaluable.

If you’ve no hidden agenda, which is open to question, then the only other answer for the rubbish that you post is that your head’s up your backside.

Spartans, EK, Tranent, Berwick, Open Goal, are all paying silly money for what’s effectively the fifth division and that’s why guys likes Jamie McCormack are signing for clubs like Berwick. Max plowed his own money into the club to bring players in that we might not have afforded. But according to you, he was a clown.

You have constantly told us over and over again that managers have not been good enough, I think you said they should have contacts all over Scotland, now you’re suggesting that 11 arseholes, your words, would be better than the players we’ve got.

We win 5 games on the trot and you still spout crap, give us all a break and sod off and let the rest of us support our team without having to listen to your crap.

From your knowledge on this matter, it seems apparent you are part of the NPA committee, as you know the rental side.

Trying to boast you are a fan of many years doesn't cut the mustard when all I have ever seen you write on here is criticism of the team.  Not once have you praised them for a winning performance.  Why is that, oh super fan?

Jambo, these “fans” have never once said anything positive about the club,  players or manager. Everyone knows we are working on a very tight budget and will cut our cloth accordingly so the negative attitude would suggest an alternative motive.
