Alright episode again. The best scene was the extended scene with Varys and Tyrion towards the end. Two absolutely terrific actors speculating and discussing two absolutely bland characters.

I enjoyed that scene but it definitely felt like Varys signing off on his own execution (by dragon) next week.

I maybe missed something, but after Daenerys and the dragon manage to avoid all the flying arrows, is there a reason she doesn’t turn round and scorch every single one of Euron’s ships in to the ground? There’d have been ample time before they reloaded. Would have taken out a substantial number of their enemies and saved all her ships from their driftwood fate. Didn’t make much sense to me unless I’ve missed something significant.

Really good episode other than that, although I’m absolutely SEETHING that they’ve written Tormund out. Howling in laughter at his “which one of you cowards shit in my pants” line, and then howling in tears as the big man hugged his pretty little friend goodbye.

I had similar thought, just fly round behind and bbq the f**k out of them. Those crossbows can't see through sails.

    Was a good episode nonetheless.

    Some quality knicker-wetting on here.

The boy is clearly injured. Playing a set of international fixtures at the end of the season would be terrible for his physical fitness.

He's been injured for much of the season. There really is no story here.

This is spot on, any sensible Celtic fan will agree. Tierney has been nowhere near as influential for Celtic for months now, he's definitely carrying an injury and would have been rested more often if we had more LB options. If it's a hip injury similar to Andy Murray's it could be worrying.

I haven't read Hitchens article as I'll be fucked if I'm giving the Mail clicks, so could you summarise what he's saying?  Is he asserting that stoned people are more likely to go out and get stabby (with this being supported by the stats) or is he attributing a lot of the deaths to gangs fighting over turf etc?

    "

There is a very good reason why people generally don’t stab each other. Normal, sane humans recoil from the very idea of plunging a sharp blade into a fellow creature, let alone driving it so deep that it is bound to kill.

The crime has been rare because nobody wanted to commit it. Yet now we have a significant minority who do not recoil. So what has changed?"

"And almost all of those who go out and kill someone with a blade will turn out, once the investigation is over, to be a long-term user of marijuana, no longer wholly sane or wholly civilised. Its widespread use is the only significant social change in this country that correlates with the rise in homicidal violence"

Talking about "this country" in a national newspaper when in fact he means England

There's no way UK government would allow Scotland to legalise on its own. We also have more than our fair share of dinosaurs in this country too unfortunately.

So you've failed to tackle either of his points, and instead had a personal dig. Interesting approach.

The examples you mentioned are farcical, but you already knew that.

Almost as farcical as blaming current societal problems on a drug that has been around for hundreds of years?

As farcical as ignoring the countries where weed has been legalised that haven't descended into anarchy?

There's way too much to actually go into but an open mind helps when debating weed which Hitchens and his ilk are sadly lacking.

Is he wrong? And if so, show me.

I don't know if there's been a rise in homicidal violence over the past 20 or so years, and I'm not sure if there's another factor that can be attributed.

What I do know is that both hitchens brothers are (were) incredibly intelligent men who rarely put forward a weak argument.

I suppose weed could also be responsible for Muslim extremism,  razor gangs, Ted Bundy, Kid'n'Play and both world wars......you may have a point!

Oof, imagine admiring Peter Hitchens? :1eye

  8. The cretin Peter Hitchens has outdone himself this time, weed is now responsible for the recent spate of stabbings.

" Its widespread use is the only significant social change in this country that correlates with the rise in homicidal violence"

That is unfortunately what you have to contend with before we can get anywhere near legalisation in this country.

  9. Very surprised at the general consensus on last night's episode, thought it was much better than last week and had some classic Alan moments, pocketing the After Eight, constantly pointing out the nepotism of the 'Dan Snow' character  and his general smugness towards the end.

I really enjoyed it and look forward to next week

Didn’t Leicester make it to the 1/4 finals of the champions league in 2016 ? Something Celtic can only dream about recently

Id say that’s a decent marker as to how good they are and they operate in a league with some of the financial giants in the game unlike Celtic .

‘Tactically it’s a step up for Rodgers

I'd say a better marker for how good they are is the fact they have only ever finished higher than 8th once in the history of the Premier League.

Rodgers is on a hiding to nothing and I am gutted about that.

It all comes down to Rodgers thinking that he is a top 6 English Premier League Manager. He cant go back to Liverpool, he cant go to Man United as he was at Liverpool and would never get the City job so he will be looking at Tottenham, Chelsea or Arsenal, he has been overlooked recently for both positions at Chelsea and Arsenal. He could win 15 trebles at Celtic and they would still overlook him. If he can consolidate Leicester as a top 8 club maybe 2 years on the trot along with developing some younger players, being shrewd in the transfer market and playing an attractive brand of football that will get them taking notice.

Guess how many times Leicester have finished in the top 8 of the Premier League?

There's absolutely no chance Rodgers or any other manager us going to achieve that, Leicester owners and fans are delusional thanks to a flukey season.

Estrons gigs next month have been cancelled because they've just split up.

    Which is a pity.

They didn't last long, their debut album is barely 4 months old.

For what it’s worth it’s quite a common thing, in the view that it clamps down on touts selling the tickets on (since their name will be on the ticket). However, anytime I’ve been warned to bring ID, I’ve never been asked for it. Any photo ID should do, just to be safe.

What happens if you've bought tickets for friends (as most people do)? Seems a bit of a daft idea to stop touts really, just inconveniencing most of the legit buyers.

Just got an email to say The Beth's have been moved to the Garage in case anyone missed out on tix, I was expecting a venue change when they sold out so quickly but hoped it might stay at Broadcast, not a big fan of the Garage.

What is the latest research on the links between cannabis and severe mental illness?  Would people still be as keen to legalise it if there was a clear link between the two?

ETA - I believe in legalising cannabis but I do think that the harm it can cause users does make me think twice.  Maybe I'm just getting old.

I can't see their being any more of a link than there is with alcohol, I know plenty of people that have pickled their brain, don't know any that have done the same with weed.

Can anyone explain why some people can look in Bird Box? And please tell me the whole thing's not just an allegory for how difficult parenthood is.
    I liked it, btw.

Because it's convenient for the shitty plot, the film had potential but it was badly wasted. Absolutely zero attempt to explain what was going on, I hate stories like that, it's a cop out and means you can just write any auld shite.

It got recommended to me by a colleague at work, won't be listening to them again.

I believe there's a bridge you can cross over to West Elizabeth up near Strawberry... just a case of having a lot of horse stimulant on you

I'm sure there's a railway bridge you can ride across too, was the quickest way to get from the first camp to Strawberry.
