MWH was really solid defensively but pretty limited going forward. Can see why he never really made it in the Premiership but you could do a lot worse in the Championship.
Judging by a couple of his interviews he did while with us it's no surprise to me that he's transfer listed though. Don't think he was that enamoured with Martindale.
Quite a few in that camp, mate.

Won't matter who Hibs get, it 'll be on a 3 year deal and when they are not top of the league after 6 months they'll get sacked. The delusional will scream " we are a big club and deserve better" . I'm realistic as far as expectations of my club , its more enjoyable that way.

Looking at " what the managers said" on BBC sport website Levein thought you did well today . Shows how much he knows about football. Dreadfull game and hard pushed to make a decent 11 out of both teams. Must win for you boys on Wednesday, good luck.

I can see my alcohol intake on a Saturday evening is not going to reduce next season with this news. To quote the wonderful Roger Turner " I'm not drinking anymore, I'm just not drinking less"

First two (assuming you mean Boyes) still have play-off games with Inverness.
Thanks, forgot ICT were involved in them.

Are Boyce , Lawal and Welch-Hayes eligible to play now their loan clubs season is over?

These 3 boys that we have signed pre contract must be absolute belters. Why would anyone want to come to this club after such a shitshow of a season. Anyway, Martindale looks as though he is going to be here next season. More tactical genius to look forward to. Wasn't there today but kudos to those that went.

See, that's what happens when the lighter nights come in. Their bed time gets pushed back by half an hour and they don't have to go home in the dark. Joking aside, every club seems to have pre- pubescent eeejits who noise up opposition fans . If they had met a real team that went around in the 70's and 80's well............

He's very dependent upon the tactical system. The 4-2-3-1 either left or central in the attacking mid trio suits him. An aggressive, man marking rather than zonal defensive system too. We spent most of this season doing something very different.
I agree he's flawed. Looking to the Championship next season, though, he should be considered a key component. His passing was actually impressive today too not just his shooting and he'll get more space in the Champ. Midfields are more stretched out as teams don't defend as compactly.
On my tactics comment and your point that maybe it'd have only improved the goal difference. Sure, I know why you say that. Defenders who aren't good enough remain not good enough regardless of tactics. That's definitely true. I do think tactics has come into to some degree, though, and I mean since we've made the switch to the 4-2-3-1.
Martindale had us primed this season to defend zonally. It was all about the "low block" and, effectively, folk standing in the right space. This is maybe just my bias here because of my personal preference but I just don't think we defend best like that with the players we have. I think we were better suited to a man marking defensive style. That's where you just go man for man rather than worrying about eg. having four defenders to mark two attackers zonally. This is more aggressive as it sees more players in the midfield and attack lines rather than the defensive line. You play a higher offside line and defend from the front, pressing. Boyes and De Lucas, both pacey and aggressive, were well suited to this. Donnellan came in and is also suited to it. Parkes, Devlin, Obileye, Sean Kelly are not. Nottingham is somewhere in between. George in goals is much better suited to a high defensive line as his strongest attribute is one on ones, see his save from Miovski last week for example.
The knock-on effect a more aggressive defence has to the rest of the team is huge, it'd have benefitted our midfield and attack. We defended much more aggressively in the two seasons prior to this one.
I agree with everything you have written but I would just have said " we've been shite all season " and left it at that.

VAR was brought in to help the on field officials where a clear and obvious error had been made. My take is that if 2 officials cannot see the clarity or obviousness ( word?) Of the error then it cannot be clear or obvious. Is it therefore an error ? I was at Satursays game and thought it was a perfectly good goal. Astonished that it was overturned. Scotlands versionof VAR is crap and is a platform for organised cheating with bias towards certain teams.. I'm not a youngster bumping my gums here but a guy who has played and followed football for 65 years plus.. It does not help refs, rather hinders them. Refs agree with VAR decisions so to avoid controversy. VAR makes the decisions now and ruining the game. Glad Aberdeen have taken officialdom to task over the nonsense that presided on Saturday. Hope they get more evidence of what clear and obvious error was made by the officials. Bitter and twisted old man rant over. Time for a lie down.

Better than anything on show at the Tony Mac today.
Cannot disagree with you on that one. Trouble is, it has not just been confined to the Tony Mac. The smell has followed us around all season.

Turn on BBC Alba just now and you’ll see what a good artificial surface looks like.
Mibbe - but there's a lot of dugshit playing on it.

so for once i'd love it if Martindale just threw caution to the wind and set us up to go score goals and f**k playing to try and stop Aberdeen scoring.

No, it wasn’t having a go at the size of the support.
But the fact that for those fixtures you have to actively deny anyone who doesn’t have a season ticket from going to the game is counter productive to sustainably growing your support.
A big result against one of them may mean a few more people might ‘catch the bug’ for going more regularly or getting a season ticket, but they’re not allowed to go because of a risk that the end gets filled up with mutants.
Just to clarify. For those erse cheek home games only season ticket holders can buy tickets for the home end. So as their season ticket gives them their seat , they can buy for friends/ family for the home stand. That way the club has a handle on who buys what and where and in the unfortunate circumstances of there being any disruption they know who bought what and can take appropriate action.

Wont have to put up with them next season though, we'll be back to our big empty stadium.
There were a number of empty seats yesterday around where I sit and it could be because it was a) Easter Sunday or b) it was one of the weegie mob c) one of the weegie mob who celebrate other things at Easter rather than its Religious significance. Whatever, maybe home attendances won't fall off significantly in the Championship because we won't have to put up with their particular brand of " support". Those that used to come along may be encouraged to return to see a more competitive league in relative safety

Listened to Martindale on the radio. Delusional. We were never in the game to pose any kind of threat to Celtic and comic cuts defending just helped them to 3 points that bit quicker. George kept it from being more embarrassing. The gulf in the quality of players between the sides was huge. Before we would attempt to close that gap by working hard and closing down quickly. Don't have the personnel these days to do that.. it would be nice to stay in the Premier League but to be honest, I'm not really that fussed. The cash would be great but on the plus side of going down will mean that we don't have to put up with the bile that the unwashed bring. Gonna look fwd to Airdrie, Dunfermline and Falkirk away days.

How the fcuk has Sean Kelly made a living out of being a " professional footballer"?

Must be really infectious - it's lasted a whole season

They've been playing at being professional footballers all season. A total red neck coming today.

I despair with this team selection. We're on a hiding here. Devlin Kelly and Shinnie , a recipe for increasing our goals against total.

It would do her confidence a world of good playing behind that defence.

Artificial pitch vote
in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Posted · Edited by Monkey socks
I dislike artificial pitches even although my own club has one. The vote to ban in the top league by only consulting the 12 clubs in the SPFL is elitist , unfair and smacks of a closed door boys club.
If passed, what would happen if say, Livi, Falkirk, Accies and Raith Rovers finished in the top 4 places ( arrange them in any order you like) in the Championship. Will this render the play offs redundant and save the bottom 2 SPFL teams from relegation?. Bear in mind that this could happen for more than 1 season until the finance to install undersoil heating and grass pitches is obtained. How many fans will go and support their team in the knowledge that promotion is not going to happen?
The baw's on the slates if they pass this nonsense. There's room for both surfaces in the financial desert that is Scottish football.
