  1. When I saw REM they were supported by Stereolab. Absolute torture listening to them for an hour before the band we went to see came out.
  2. Just started a new thread on this, then found this one. I'm on series 3 of Slow Horses, and enjoying it a lot. There are a lot of really good shows on here - For All Mankind, Masters of the Air, etc.
  3. I can imagine the Corrs playing at Dignitas.
  4. I read that management consultant costs are one thing she's looking at. How will the big accountancy firms survive without the (literally) hundreds of millions of pounds of taxpayers money each year?
  5. And this from folk for whom English isn't their first language
  6. The Judge's List by John Grisham. Meh.
  7. It is a shame. I really enjoyed the race and the ending, it was a great drive. But...roolz is roolz. Can't really argue with it.
  8. I agree. Normally love everything she is in but her character was awful here.
  9. In all honesty, I struggle to think of any sitcom that was as good. I'm a fan of many others but none has this magic combination of word play, situations, slapstick, class fun and genuinely likeable characters. It's also extremely quotable, though that isn't done much here compared to other shows. One of my favourite lines at the end of this wee clip
  10. Whoever wins it is basically going to be one of those Gears of War Meat Shields for the next 5 years, taking flak from every side. From the centre/left for being so shite in the last government. From the right for not being fascist enough. And, being the Tories, from everyone else in the party for not immediately being 20 points ahead in the opinion polls.
  11. This isn't a rock folk should look under. Dave Grohl (aka the nicest man in rock) and the Foo Fighters held AIDS denialism concerts and backed various nutbag theories back in the day.
  12. My knowledge of EV cars is limited to what my neighbour tells me about his. In the winter, it doesn't go very far. They've jacked up the prices, both of kilowatts and (in some places) minimum spend. He used to park at the Falkirk stadium, 25p per kW, minimum spend £1. He'd take the dogs for a walk, come back and the car was half charged. Now it's minimum spend £5, 50p per kW. He's getting a hybrid next time.
  13. Ah right, fair enough. Wasn't aware of any back story until I googled.
  14. Duffy. Endless radio play for about a year, then nothing.
  15. This thread has me thinking back to my childhood. Not my own car-owning history but the cars I grew up with. So I'll add in the ones I can remember. Ford Cortina Estate. Loved that one. Mum would drive me and my pal to nursery in it (early 80s). We always wanted to go in the boot so we'd roll about as the car turned corners. Probably get done for that these days. Another Cortina, but not an estate. Fiat Regatta. Loathed this car. I can't say why, but I detested it as a kid. The least cool car ever made. Ford Sierra. Great car, went really fast. My mate's dad had a near-identical one and I remember his dad trying to get into our car once. "Fuckin' shit car key won't fit...fuckin' arse..." "Er, that's my car". Then my old man entered the Mondeo/Mazda 6 era. I've probably missed out some cars, but these stick in the mind.
  16. And Sting's occupation before he was a singer was...
  17. Justin Hawkins: "It's a shame that Jon Bon Jovi doesn't like our music. I wonder what the rest of the cast for Ally McBeal think."
  18. Starmer did say during the campaign that they couldn't afford to lift the cap. It wasn't in the manifesto.
  19. Seemed to work out OK on Brooklyn Nine-Nine
  20. His brother Juan is a bit of a bellend too.
