  1. Nobody has forced them to go down this career path, if they don't want to pursue football as a career and don't have enough money to live I'm sure queens will stand aside and allow them to leave. This is scottish football we don't have a Barcelona type budget to give these youngsters a fantastic wage, I agree if true £10 is shameful but a club with our budget it is what has been signed and AGREED by the player. If they didn't want it they could have signed elsewhere.

When some of these boy's first signed they had been told they were getting more than £10 a week only to find out at the last minute that would not be the case. Some of them had turned down other offers from clubs, so they had no option but to agree. Many have left or are leaving but this is down to another issue which has nothing to do with further education. These boys are not only used for cleaning the stadium they do coaching for the club in & out of schools & have also being used for painting, turnstiles on match days, delivering & giving out flyers etc, etc. All for £10 a week, in my opinion it is a disgrace & also morally wrong on every level.

  2. Anyone have any idea who this Jarrett Rivers from Blyth Spartans is. Reports in the sun say fowler has been keeping tabs on him for the last few months.

He is a tricky winger who has had trials with a few English clubs & won young player of the year in the Evo-Stik league this season. Obviously a few Blyth Spartans players have come to light this season due to their FA cup run with one signing for Carlisle United. 3 or 4 also went up to Alloa & were invited back but declined the offer. Rivers come up through the Middlesbrough academy system until they released him & currently works in his family's newsagents I am led to believe.

  3. Fair enough outsider if what you say is true then there probably are a few things that need looked at and improved on.

I'm in no position to comment on the U20s as I have no involvement with it whatsoever. I've not so much as even attended a match.

What I was getting at with my post was that whinging on an Internet forum, and making vague accusations isn't going to fix anything.

Any grievances, petty or not, should be directed to the club who I believe are more than welcoming to suggestions on how to improve things.

Firstly, everything outsider says is true, though to be honest he's only pointing out the tip of the iceberg.

You say your are in no position to comment & you have no involvement. Strange that you always have a comment to make whenever the topic is raised, so makes me wonder why !!!

These so called vague accusations as you call them are fact, otherwise why would people like outsider etc say it.

As for grievances being directed at the club, I don't blame the club itself it's just a very few individuals within the club that for whatever reason seem to be untouchable & god help anyone who dare question them.

Like I have said before the club is doing so much right on & off the field going forward & I commend that, but some people are not & blatantly getting away with it.

  4. Mods any chance of creating a "Petty Grievances About the Youth Setup" thread? It shouldn't be too much of a strain on the forums resources as it will just be qos8 posting in it.

Wouldn't call it petty, just pointing out facts like many others have. Though I do find it amusing that you try & constantly belittle anything that is true & posted about it by anybody.

    I wonder why !!!

  5. Why should it matter to QoS how many tickets are sold? That's not supposed to sound cheeky, it's a genuine question.

I have no idea how the business works but what I thought happened with regards to these types of concert; specifically Status Quo and Palmerston is this:-

Status Quo hire Palmerston. They pay us £££ for the rental of our facilities. Status Quo's management are responsible for the advertising. The only thing I thought QoS FC would have to provide is a suitable venue and security/safety. The amount of tickets sold for the gig shouldn't affect the amount of money QoS receive as the hiring of Palmerston should be a set price. If the band don't sell as many tickets as they expect then that's tough shit for them, but QoS still get their agreed fee. As I say, I don't have a clue about the way it works, but I'd be pretty shocked and disappointed if it's QoS' responsibility to do ALL the running with regards to selling tickets.

That's not how this has been done unfortunately, prepare to be shocked & disappointed.

  6. Status quo are not going to cost qos money but will make them money and as Billy has already stated PALMERSTON park is 1st and foremost a football stadium but if it can be used to generate the club more money why not use it to the clubs advantage.

Why is it always after not winning a game lots of negative posts come along?

Don't be so sure, it depends on how many tickets are sold. From what I have heard they are not selling as expected, hence all the advertising.

  7. Aye third defeat on the bounce yet the same players start most weeks with the same players sitting either on the bench, in the stand or at home each week. Play badly and you lose your place doesn't happen, it looks more like if your face fits your in, the keeper is a prime example.

Don't think Jim has much to do with the 20's as of late although both him and Fowler were at the game last night. They couldn't have been happy with the performance.

You make a very valid & correct point, It's great that they have Fowler or sometimes Burns or Jim there on match days to give them some guidance & instruction, though that is the only time they see the lads as they have no involvement in any training that takes place apart from Jim on the very odd occasion, hence they don't pick the squads or teams for the games. I think everybody in & around it knows the problem but for whatever reason nothing is being done as yet. It's such a shame as I think Queens are getting so much right on & off the pitch as a club going forward at the moment but someone seems to be turning a blind eye regarding this matter.

  8. U20's lose 2-1 down at Annan tonight . Moxon the scorer for Queens

Third defeat on the bounce, last night to a team bottom of the league who had only won once all season. Don't like losing to Annan on any level to be honest.

    I blame Jim Thomson.

Haha, to be fair he is defiantly not the one to blame as he has had very little involvement with the group over the last month or so.

  9. I'm saying 20 minutes is more than enough to show a glimmer of a player somewhere in there for me he hasn't grabbed that chance. Don't get me wrong I think there is a player in there but the pace of our game doesn't suit him at all.

The last 20 is a time usually the game has slowed down a good bit and he should be capable of getting the game by the scruff of the neck and make a difference. I like the guy and wish it had turned out differently but I think when he sees Kidd being played in a new position ahead of him it must be the final straw. So to answer your question Kidd isn't the answer either but I don't expect to see him in centre midfield once we have everyone available.

He hardly got the last 20 minutes of any games, but from what I have seen he has shown more than a glimmer that he could be a player. As for getting the game by the scruff of the neck & making a difference in 20 minute or less, this would be a difficult task for any top player never mind a championship one. Though I agree seeing someone like Kidd picked in front of you would defiantly make you realise your day's are just about up.

  10. So giving a player 20 minutes in a lot of games isn't enough time to show something ? In the majority of those games he has constantly given the ball away and been run past by opposition players on numerous occasions. He isn't good enough for this level it's really simple. If you maybe stuck the amount of appearances he has made and then put the 2 good games over the top of that you would also come to this conclusion.

Of course the last 20 minutes or less in games isn't enough. Do you honestly think you can just come on as a sub & get up with the pace of the game straight away. Any player will tell you that you need a run of games to gain match fitness & then be judged. Don't know what games you have watched him in but I don't recall him constantly giving the ball away in the limited times he's been on. Do you think that Kidd deserved to play in front of him & when he did he done well ?

  11. He was given enough game time to show more than he has done. Bar the game at tynecastle and our win at Alloa last season he has disappointed every time he has appeared. Wish the guy all the best as it must be a really shitty situation to be in but he always seems to be smiling and hopefully his move to Scotland bears some fruit eventually.

He has started 2 games out of the last 24 so can't see how he has been given enough game time, though you say he was ok in one of those two games but disappointing every other time he has appeared ?

I agree with Broony he's been given ample chance to prove himself and hasn't taken the opportunity. Is qos8 Dzierzawski's version of Charlie?

See above, don't understand your Charlie quote but starting to understand with your replies to some of my posts that you are a bit of a prat

  12. I can't imagine the league below will be any less frantic than this and IMO it's a slower tempo he requires as he can certainly pick a pass.

Personally I don't think that's the case as good player always seem to find time & space whatever the tempo, just don't think he was given the run of games he deserved.

usa confirmed as going to Peterhead on loan for rest of the season needs games so a good move for him

Hope he does well, a good run of games can only be beneficial for him & his match fitness

  13. Seems to be fairly well thought of by some on here, if he does end up with us would have to fight for his place with us as well, as it should be. If it happens hopefully he takes his chance to prove himself worthy of a full time contract at Queens or somewhere.

If he does indeed end up on loan with you I would be very surprised if you have any better footballers than him. I will also bet after a few games you will be wondering how you have managed to get him on loan & why he isn't involved at Queen's.

  14. Reckon we should have given Dykes chance on bench as he seems our best goalscorer at that level. Might have made him want to stay more. Who has informed they are leaving?

Speaking to parents weeks ago apparently Berry, Ferguson & Slattery so far. Apparently Dykes would not of stayed anyway for some of the same reason's the others are leaving.

  15. Dykes looks a prospect but is he not heading back to Aus, what is Pickards best position don't know if he has the stamina for the step up yet.

Mitchell & Burns ahead of Mckenna in there step back from injury but think this weekend is still to early for both from tonight's game.

Heard he was returning to oz for good this week, so if that's the case can't understand why he was even considered to be involved last night, though as previously said on here some are still being included that have already informed club staff that are leaving at the end of the season anyway ?. From what I have seen Pickards strongest position is striker or just off the striker. From last nights showing I think Mitchell could step in on Saturday though McKenna looked way off. Hooper always stands out in these games for me.

Yank being linked with Peterhead in the daily record today

Shame it doesn't look like it's going to work out for Kev, as in my opinion he is a very good footballer, though for whatever reason has never been given a decent run of games.

  16. How they apparently engineered their release is based on what? Apart from your own poisonous imagination? And 'heed the baw' should not be allowed anywhere near the bench or our young players!

Agree with all of that. I can understand why Baird was got rid of though Kerr was a totally different situation. People seem to be convinced it was engineered by him & slag him off but they are really missing the point of what happened and why. At the end of the day Fowler had to take a side & rightly or wrongly for his reasons he chose not to take Kerr's.

  17. Was he not meaning the dev squad players under dev contracts rather than players on first team contracts? Is Hooper on a dev contract? I thought he played well at Alloa. Surely if you aee 'full tine' as mentioned the law would require a minimum wage/ apprentice rate. I know they will probably still be living at home but I can't see how anybody would work for £10 a week.

As I understand it the dev squad players are also used for cleaning the ground after home games as well as manning turnstiles etc on match days.
