The board have well and truly fucked it this window.
The sooner we get a competent chief executive in the better.

Is it much different from your usual summer? Main difference this year is Europe, which came before you were ready, but you've looked reasonably solid since then and the signings, Sow apart,  look decent enough on paper. If the boy St Clair turns out decent (and theres no reason he won't - if Chelsea had their way he'd still be there) then Sow won't be playing very much anyway - cos he's not replacing Brophy. Your loanees are still coming from a good level, you've just swapped a majority of them coming from England for majority of them coming from Italy. I'd also suggest your manager isn't a clueless dick, so I'm pretty sure he knows exactly when and how he'll use Sow before he signed him. Probably against thugs like Berra.

Losing Clarke was always going to mean a step back, it'd have been the same for any club he managed, he's simply that good at what he does. If that step back means you finish 5th instead of 3rd can you really consider it failure for a board that, before Clarke, was running a club constantly tipped for relegation?

    Fair question.

I'm just going by the fact that prior to him pitching up here he was apparently playing as a left back/defender. The footage I watched of his 2 friendlies playing for Sepsi before he cancelled his contract he was playing left back.

Information about him is pretty sketchy so there's not a lot of info about him for reference but when he signed his Wiki had him down as a defender, though it's since been edited.

It's the absolute worst citation but his FM profile has him as a left back. I'm taking it to be that's his natural position and it's us who are trying to turn him into a right winger.

Having said all that I'd imagine our back-up left back will be Tait or Dunne like.

Its not the worst citation at all. FM/Sports Interactive data is very highly respected within the game, to the point that at least one top club pay SI an license so they can use it as part of their scouting process.

Surprised how quiet it’s been. Didn’t necessarily expect anyone coming in but was sure some people would have been loaned out or Gleason finally getting punted.

Can punt Gleeson anytime, doesn't need to be in the window. I'd expect we're doing the "decent" thing and letting him recover frrom injury before binning him. Makes no odds to us, we'll have to pay off him anyway.

I know this was probably meant slightly in jest but I've seen it a lot recently and I don't really agree. If that was the case then he wouldn't have taken the job in the first place. I just think the squad we had after January was better placed to play in the SP than the one we have now. It was a pretty settled XI with a lot of experience of the game up here.

I do believe that he's been pretty naive with the type of player that he's signed, while some of them are undoubtedly technically good enough, I think the speed and ferocity of the game has taken them by surprise and I don't think he's the type of manager to light a fire under them to bring out that side of their game.

I think they way the good run works against you is that he used the 20/24 points pre split instead of 2/15 post split as an indication of the quality of the league. He's completely failed to grasp the gulf between the top/bottom 6 and assumed the poor return post split was because his players had dropped off rather than not being good enough. If thats correct and he's made his signings based on that view, then it could well be a season of pain for Hibs.

Its like the circle of life or some pish. Ex-Don goalie makes a c**t of it to knock Timmy out of Europe as another ex-Don goalie is saving a pen to knock their kids out of the challenge cup.

    We're everywhere.

And how would that help you?

It doesn't really, but its sensible to try and get some return on the investment we made and we may get the usual "nominal fee" from someone else for him.

Alternatively, how does it help you to hold out for *£700k when you could get £600k + May instead? If he starts scoring its possible his goals will be worth considerably more than that come end of season. Would that not be a risk worth taking? Imagine you reject that and he goes somewhere else and is successful, there'd be carnage.

    *thin air figures.

Because we landed Josh Vela while diverting you onto penalty boy Funso? Hardly.

Just seems odd that a team has one player who came in because his soul had been touched in places he never knew existed, while another player is sending 'Help me Brenda-wan, you're my only hope' messages to the EPL to rescue him from this hellhole...

Is that the Vela who was subbed after 60 at 0-0 against a St Mirren side bossed by East Kibride you're talking about there?

Did you feel that? Must have been the SPFL quaking in its boots right there. Europe breathes a sigh of relief that Hibs so graciously pretended to be shit so the best wouldn't have to face him this season.

Rangers win against Hibs and Aberdeen which you would think would be the right time to announce that Murty got the job till the end of the season but no the board waits till after they get thumped at home by the  St Johnstone before announcing he has the job till the end of the season  - the banter years

And then they get pumped in his first game in charge thanks to a double from Fatty Boyd.

    Couldn't be written...

  9. Sign up for P&B - £free

Lose a charity bet that Paul Hartley will be sacked - £50

Spend the next 18 months in absolute hysterics as the useless c**t bounces from one embarrasment to another before being sacked anyway - £Priceless.

Now if you'll just sort your shit out so we don't have to put up with another season of Accies plastic pitch then that'd be just dandy...

  10. Neilson's selection antics on Sunday did bring back the horrible memory of Shady Specs McGlynn playing Ryan McGowan as an attacking midfielder.

Nae sure - If you want to beat us then the easiest way is to target Logan with a big striker and hoof the ball into his area (Farmers at Ibrox in the second half the other year being the prime example). It just didn't work for you, mainly because we now have the flexibility with Shinnie for him to go left back and give us 3 in the centre. This allowed Taylor to cover Logan when the ball was hoofed forward so you got nothing from it.

I expect Neilson wanted to put the big strikers on our fullbacks, win the knock downs for Sow to skin our big centre halfs. Second problem for you there is our big centre halfs are quicker than they seem, and pretty decent on the ground, so he got bugger all out of them there too.

Neilson tried something that has worked against us in the past ,we've just now got a way to deal with it.

  11. McInnes says we've not spoken to Hibs, no interest at all from us, also that nae c**t is leaving as long as we're in Europe - loan or otherwise.

Happy with that, as I wouldn't see the point in us spunking the money it would take to get him, on a player who only has a year to go on his contract, and has done f**k all outside the Scottish Championship. Even there he's been found badly wanting on the big occasions. Theres only two clubs in Scotland I'd hope to see overspend on players, and we're not one of them.

Also, we're saving our cash for Stevie May.. ;)

  12. Has McInnes ever had a great eye for a keeper? Chris Smith and Peter Enckelman were his signings of choice at St Johnstone were they not?

As good as Aberdeen's team is right now, that makes it even sadder that they've not even had a half decent keeper since around about 2002 (Kjaer).

Aye, Alan Mannus. Which makes it slightly criminal that we never approached him when his contract was running out imo. Then again, maybe we did and hes just happy in Perth.

  13. Are there any sanctions in place if Ashley did increase his shareholding, bearing in mind that there is no 10% rule anyway?

There is no 10% rule, but there is a dual interest rule. Ashley agreed with the SFA to keep his holding under 10% and the SFA agreed that this wouldn't be considered dual interest. If he goes over 10% then the dual interest rule does apply, and they can sanction the club accordingly.

  14. Better for who?

Do you honestly think that any of these deals have been done with the club being the main beneficiary?

It is a simple policy that these crooks operate on, Spivs pocket first, holding company 2nd, club last.

This is a shit deal for Rangers, no matter which way you try and gloss over it.

Its pretty decent deal for a Scottish 3rd division team with a large support. The Rangers name means nothing.

Yeh that's all very well but this was one of the main sources of revenue...now we hand almost of half our profits to Ashley. He makes so much from it he is desperate to keep the club trading!!

If Rangers couldn't have done this on their own then why were others desperate to get the club out of the deal?

You don't think Sports Direct would stock our merchandise if we didn't have this deal?

Yes, they would, under what terms is questionable (its unlikely SD would buy in bulk, so you'd be looking at sale or return, or even worse, paying them to stock them) but Rangers would have then carried all the risk, which they couldn't, and still can't support. Imagine the financial position today if you'd pissed away money on 100k shirts only to be left with 50k of them unsold.

The deal is bad for Rangers because the profitability of the brand was overestimated on all sides.
