  1. Easy 3 points against a team that The Star voted against being in the league
  2. Born into a family that had all seen military action got a bit of interest in the Germans and various wars. Usually on Scotland away trips made a point of having a couple of days extra and visiting Normandy. Arnhem and Nuremburg. One thing that i've always wanted to know is, where Rudolph Hess crashed the plane at Eaglesham, is there something there to mark the spot? Or would a local be able to point it out? Or to much of a risk it would became a shrine to extremists?
  3. I'm not very good at a lot of things in life
  4. Going along to the Dbt Star v Rothes game today, Star's home record against Highland League teams is pretty woeful, expecting Rothes to win 3 or 4-1. Gala to beat St Cuthberts 5-0. Also Broomhill, EK, Edin City and the other 3 games to be draws.
  5. Dalbeattie Star 3 Newtongrange Star 2, cracking cup tie, Newton came out the blocks and scored in the first minute then another before half time to take a well deserved 2-0 lead. Second half, Dalbeattie made changes and brought it back to 2-2, with Newton having a man sent off. Then a last minute winner for Dalbeattie . The magic of the Scottish Cup is still alive.
  6. I thought Premier Sports have the exclusive rights to the Lowland, sorry, "Colts" games? Just out of interest are there match highlights on Celtic TV if such a thing exists? I must admit i thought it was 6-0, was busy all afternoon and haven't been near a phone or laptop. Poor show!
  7. For a couple of games there it looked like the Hype Train had pulled into the sidings but another good win for the Star over GFR midweek. 8 games played, 18 points, 4th in league, still loitering in territory not seen for a few seasons' First of the "Colts" games tomorrow, would hardly think Celtic will give a monkey's that the Star were 1 of the 5 teams that didn't want them in the League. First competitive game between the teams since the Scottish Cup first round 1934 when Celtic beat Star 6-0 at Maidenholm Park, Dalbeattie, in front of a crowd of 2,376. Lets hope history doesn't repeat. Mon the Star
  8. Nothing wrong with that, just as long as you are enjoying it
  9. Boy just over the bridge from where i stay has made his racing comeback in this championship, doing some of the Thundersport GB as well. Neil Glendinning, says he's fair enjoying it although the gravel at Donnington Park a bit on the rough side
  10. Sorry, it was tongue in cheek to the wind up merchants. No offence intended
  11. I walked past the Kings Arms in Dalbeattie on the way to Islecroft and it seemed pretty much the same thing. Among the excuses would be the bar at Islecroft isn't open, £7 to get in, to far to walk and the small town mentality of don't know any of the players none of them come from Dalbeattie. ( roughly the same excuses i use for having no will or desire to go back to Palmerston ) Just wait to rangers B roll into town, they will all be there then
  12. Sunny Rockcliffe, have the joy of going there and Kippford at my work, staunch true blue Tory area
  13. Probably a mix of making a couple of decent signings, consistent team selection, couple of early wins on the doors and even though its only the end of July probably got enough points on the board to hopefully be out of the relegation mix. The players now seem to be playing with a bit of confidence and belief in themselves.
  14. Five wins out of five for The Star. Bet know one would have thought that a month ago. Well done to all involved. The hype train running for another week
  15. Safe from relegation was actually mentioned after Star won there first 3 games Top half would be a good target, the first 2 seasons of the LL Star finished 3rd and 4th, that might be a bit ambitious but you never know. Beating GretnaFC2008 twice would also be nice
  16. Star at home to Edinburgh Uni on Saturday, the Hype train might keep running for another week yet.
  17. Correct. Get VoL or Dalbeattie to f**k please Maybe they should relegate clubs that don't have there own ground !!!
  18. Why would Threave going up not help the Pyramid in general?
  19. This time last year The Star had 8 points from 9 games and lay !4th in the league out of 15 if you exclude Selkirk. At the moment Played 1 more, 1 less point but probably more important lying 12th out of 16. You can argue if that is progress or not, but the league is getting more difficult for the likes of The Star and at the end of the day league position is all that matters. Just looks like it is going to be another rollercoaster of a season, more consistency needed, 2 shocking home defeats sandwiched between scoring 4 and 5 away from home. The same old record just keeps going round and round
  20. September, big month for The Star, two league games, Gretna away and Vale at home with two cup games sandwiched in between. Could go a long way to defining the season. Need to start scoring goals and beat Gretnafc2008 and Vale, draws must be a minimum. Winnable cup game at home to Gala as well. Here's hoping for 3 wins in the month.
  21. What's the script with that car? Assume it has been abandoned there? Been sitting there for what seems like a long time
  22. Hope you bring better weather with you this year, it was a wee bit wet last season. Star have got the same midweek away game as last season as well, Edu/Caledonian Braves away, which was handy at Annan but now up at dogging central on a Wednesday night
