  1. I am currently on the last book in the conquerer series by conn iggulden

Its about Genghis khan rise to power and also
    His grandson kublai khan.

I am not big reader some books take me longer to finish as i lose interest.

Have lots of plans on books to read on my good reads app. Didnt take up reading tho just a few year ago now try enjoy a book when i can.

  2. Hes turned into the scottish freddy adu lol how long was his contract chelsea gave him when he left celtic he seems to be going out on loan for a week here and there

His pie and bovril thread seems to be more exciting than his actual career ..

Cant see him lasting much longer as professional footballer anyway surely no decent club would touch him when his chelsea contract eventually runs out

  3. First half marathon in a while and pulled 1:44.15 out of nowhere. Absolutely stunned as I felt I toiled all the way round, but I took 7mins plus off my previous PB. Delighted.

Good stuff mate .. am hoping to get a half marathon in start of feb need to have a look to see any about
  4. There's a boy posted on Reddit today who's ran 6,000 miles this year.
    Six-fucking-thousand miles.

Thats crazy dont think a will ever get 1000 lol a always stop then start again after my marathon am usually fucked n get lazy then keep delayin the comeback lol

  5. I ran In Florence in 2014. They barely looked at the certificate, so you'd be as well finding some stamp for it and doing it yourself!

I've heard some people have bother getting the certificate signed by their GP & having to pay quite a bit, but I've twice had mine signed no bother. I guess 15€ isn't too bad really.

    Good luck with the training!

My gp says no but hopefully my mums cousin can do it hes a gp but shes on holiday and a think i have spoke to the guy once my full life lol think its time to strike up a friendship [emoji23]

    How was the florence marathon

Did a five mile on tuesday feelin okay thinking of trying a parkrun at weekend. Been meaning to do a parkrun for about 3 month but yet to even go ..

  6. Was at morton v hibs tonite on saturday night. £18 entry was a decent crowd but bit expensive to see a championship match ..

Crowd was quite loud decent game tho morton could a scored a few in the first half .

Hoping to go to stenhousemuir v east fife on Tuesday but all depending on time a get away from work

  7. I am going to try and visit all 42 senior grounds in scotland was going to wait to January to start but my uncle who is 89 is a clyde fan and they are playin in the scottish on tuesday so think i mite just start my journey there [emoji4]

So will get to see some random matches around scotland over next year

  8. Lol it is nowhere near as bad as Drumchapel. Tollcross is a tough run, but Drumchapel is something else.

To put it in perspective, my 5k pb is 17'36", my best as Tollcross is 18'15" and my best at Drumchapel is 19'37"!

Thts amazing times for 5k a haven't got under 20 mins before but if a keep doing these hopefully get a good time .
  9. They're on every Saturday at 9.30am. Although watch out if you're in England as they seem to start at 9am down there.

As you can see from the map, there's plenty to choose from. You can just turn up if you want, but it's best to register and print off a barcode before you head along, that way you get a time at the end and a free t-shirt (after 50 runs!). The same barcode works for every parkrun.

Cheers will check out just now see what a can do
  10. None actually planned. Got the HM in Glasgow next month, then a 10k in Stranraer in November (hopefully, the website booking system won't work and they've dinghied my email).

Other than that, going to try getting back into parkruns regularly, as it keeps me off the sauce on Friday night (a bit). Did Tollcross on Saturday and was only 4 seconds outside my PB for that course, which I was quite pleased with. Do you ever do parkruns? There's quite a lot out there now, from the easy-going (Linwood and Vicky Park) to the much harder (Springburn and Tollcross) to the suicidal (Drumchapel).

A never new about them till a started commenting on this thread ..

Are they on quite a lot is there a link to them
  11. Luckily my gf is probably more into running so getting her to sign up for these things is no problem, although she doesn't really like visiting the cold countries. Only problem with the Norway, Iceland and FInland marathons is it's quite expensive when you're out there. And they're not very hot either, which suits me down to the cold cold ground.

Nice aye they are expensive but rather cold than to hot lol ..

Whats your next marathon goin to be
  12. You sound about the same level as me. I did it in just under 4 hours although I definitely didn't do enough training (one 18 mile run and a couple of half marathons were my only proper runs).

The first 15 miles or so were fine. At all the drinks stations, I barely slowed down - just grabbed the water and tried to drink it (and ended up pouring half of it down myself). But near the end, a soon as I saw the drink station in the distance, I started walking to it, selecting a drink, then not starting running again until I'd finished it.

At the time, I swore blind I'd never do another one, but a couple of weeks later, I was already eyeing up new ones (someone on this thread posted a link to the midnight marathon in Norway which looks braw).

Aye a only did 18 mile run in training then got lazy for a bt after it living off my long run lol ... Feels good tellin people u just ran 18 in the streets lol ...

The norway one looks good am trying to get my gf to into running so i can book up for marathons abroad bcoz a would be goin on my own if a didnt but if thts the only option prob just go away myself .. Hoping to get to the helsinki marathon next august tho
  13. Not great! I did my first marathon last month and somehow have got in my head that I never need to do any training ever again! In the last 4 weeks, I've done two and a half 5k's ... like you, I definitely need to do a longer run at the weekend!

How did it go ? Thts it its only 13 mile anyway should be a stroll. For us marathon runners lol

How was your first marathon . My first marathon was terrible i trained really good up
Until april then took 3 weeks off for no reason and couldnt get back to my fitness level and the marathon was brutal lol but my second shot at the marathon in edinburgh a did a lot a better i aimed to get under 4 hour and did tht so was happy.

But need to train harder to get a better time nxt year.

  14. That's a good point!

I ran it the year Haile Gebrselassie had to give up half way through due to "breathing problems". When anyone asked me how I got on, I didn't tell them a time and just told them I'd beaten him and left it at that.

A ran that aswell ... Its my claim to fame to lol.

I have been quite lazy past few week think most i have ran is 3 mile .. Been playin football
And keep making excuses but hopefully get out tonite for a few mile

    Hows your training going
  15. Anyone else doing the half marathon in Glasgow the start of October?

My girlfriend, bless her, booked me in for it, but must think that she's going out with Mo Farah, as whatever estimated finish time she put down for me, I seem to have been assigned one of the white "fast runner" numbers. So if you see a guy wearing a fast number puffing and panting his way round the course, that'll probably be me.

I have booked it but realised it was on my weekend in work so i dont no if i can get it off .

Havent really trained much to be honest but will get out running over the nxt few days and try get at 10 mile run nxt weekend.

Now u are in the starting pack u can win it lol .

  16. How did you get on? Had no idea this was happening until I ran through the park and saw a few bits and pieces!

It was good quite fun just helping my girlfriend over the finish line . Dont no the time or tht tho .. But was good day nice n easy

Well done on your 5k a mite try one out one
    Day..

Going to try and do more 10ks from now on thinking of doing two marathons next year the edinburgh one in may and helsinki one in august if a can get the time of work ..
