  1. So how did the ambulance team move you? What scans did you undergo at A & E? What analgesia did they give you? How did you get home? Did you have a magic password to have it all done in just under three hours?

As a dearly departed poster from this board would have said, be specific.

It's all a bit of a haze so forgive me if some of these details are inaccurate. I believe I was carried from my bathroom floor to the ambulance on some kind of stretcher like device and relevant checks were carried out there. After arriving at the hospital, some scans were carried out and it was distinguished that the extent of my injuries was not as bad as I had feared. After that I was sent on my way relatively quickly, I got a taxi home and immediately went to bed. There was no magic password, I suppose it must just have been a quiet night so I was dealt with swiftly.

Not sure why everyone on here is so skeptical. As previously mentioned, I seriously overestimated the extent of my injuries and in hindsight believe the ambulance ride may have unnecessary. Better safe than sorry though eh?

  2. Hiya xbl, hiya.

Sorry, I'm not down with my acronyms and internet slang, what does this stand for?

I'm really struggling with this one to be honest, especially after having several colleagues who have worked with NHS 24 and I know how the service operates.

So you're alone, you have had a bad fall, you have the presence of mind to phone NHS 24 advising them you have had a bad fall (because that would be my first port of call if it's so bad) you have a hip injury etc and the "Advisor" suggests you ring an ambulance yourself despite all this.

Thank goodness you overcame the agony to keep us all posted on this website, otherwise what would have happened if a non emergency ambulance hadn't reached you in 35 minutes...

Or you could just be a lying, trolling c**t?

I did not call the ambulance, the advisor handled everything for me. God bless her.

I've never experienced anything like this in the past so I'm not sure what the usual protocol is or whether my experience was unusual. All in all, I am very happy with the service I received.

As mentioned previously, I own a smartphone so was able to pass the time on P&B and other websites. I'm not sure why this is so difficult to believe?

  3. Never mind that - the ambulance arrived, carted him off to the hospital, gave him an x-ray, and got him back home safely and back on P&B, all in a little over an hour.

And they say the NHS is underfunded!

Not sure where you are getting your timings from but they are incorrect. I believe I was in and out in a little under three hours, not the one hour that you have stated.

Thankfully I had my phone with me so was able to pass the time with you guys on P&B (it is a smartphone). Thank you for the company, it is the only thing that kept me sane.

  4. Assuming you were undressed I hope you were at least able to adopt an attractive pose for when the ambulance men arrived, if not a clean pair of underpants.

I was indeed in the buff. I did consider getting up and throwing on some clothes but, as previously mentioned, feared that I had sustained spinal injuries. I weighed up the options and decided that temporary embarrassment was better than potential paralysis.

All in all, I stand by that decision.

  5. I was laying prone on my bathroom floor and daren't move in fear of spinal injuries. Thankfully I had my phone at hand so was able to call for help.

I had to do something to pass the time before the ambulance arrived and, naturally, P&B was my first port of call.

Why are you so angry? Situations like this are exactly why the ambulance service exists.

  6. Just back from the shops - these ambulance buses are cracking! :thumsup2

The other passenger was a moaning faced c**t, but you can't have everything, can you.

This is NOT something to joke about. I feared that I was seriously hurt and with no friends/family available to ferry me to A&E what else was I supposed to do?

Please inform me for future reference.
