When did Queens Park sign McGinley from us and were you offering him higher wages than we could afford?
I'd never actually heard of the boy until these rumours about him going down south. Not sure he'll even be on a professional contract though, as the club tends to announce those loudly.

Queens Park fans did he turn down a deal at yourselves or did Davidson let him go?
He was offered a new deal, but he's been desperate to actually play for a while now. Remember speaking to his dad last year when we were really struggling and he confirmed that too.
When Robson hit a run of poor form he got a bit of game time; scored a good goal away to Raith as well, but then we signed Josh Scott who is a much more complete left back than Bruce.
Given what I know about him, I'd assume Airdrie have promised him a fair crack at the starting 11 when he was unlikely to ever be much more than a backup here.

Well what can you tell us ........... he fits the McCabe mould but can he play???
He was linked to Celtic, Rangers, and a couple of clubs down south such as Brighton last year but nothing ever panned out. Very lightweight, might be decent eventually but I don't think he's quite ready for this level. Can only assume you guys have promised him game time that we weren't able to as Josh Scott is a much better player.

Sounds like we have paid a fee for him as well.
Does Hancock mover further forward and we play them both in a 4-4-2?
He was out of contract, so it'll just be a development fee, although he's been with us for a long time so that might add up to a decent amount.

Reminder that in the supporters' association meeting, shields said there were two signings that were very close to being announced and only needed clearance. Obviously one of these was wills, but we're yet to see the other.
Just wait until it's a 17 year old player for the B team.

Having a decent backup keeper is important, but I can't help but feel like a lot of realistic targets who are tried and tested at this level are just passing us by. Obviously I don't know whether we've made any attempts to sign guys that haven't worked out, but I'm fairly concerned by the lack of movement at this stage; hopefully we don't end up relying on a load of unknowns from academies down south again.

You Might even have offered him one simply because you know any other club interested will have to pay you guys a development fee now
That's a decent shout, believe we'd be owed a season's worth of development fees as he's still under 23 assuming the new deal we offered is at least equal to what he was previously on.
To put it politely, I think it would take a significant improvement for him to even begin looking like an average Championship level player. Not impossible, but re-signing him wouldn't be particularly high up on my list of priorities for the summer.

We were linked but no idea if it was just paper talk but did McKinstry sign a new deal with you guys
Been offered one, which probably came as a surprise to most of us, but no news yet.

I'm hoping for James Brown, right back who spent half of last season on loan at Raith. We've obviously needed to sort out that position for a while, but I mostly just want us to expand on the musical theme of our defenders' names.
Half expecting it to be the backup keeper we had on loan from St. Johnstone on a permanent deal though, which would be a bit underwhelming.

A lot of club’s supporters (so this isn’t just unique to us) tend to wildly overreact to player departures at this time of the season. That can lead them to think that every player that goes (particularly first-teamers that go to other folk in the same division) is a disaster for them. As others have alluded to though, players come and go, we’ve come through it before and we will again.
That's normal though and there's a good reason for it, clubs like mine and yours rarely sign a player who's an obvious upgrade. The majority of the guys who do well for us come in as a bit of an unknown and surprise everyone, or start out poorly but with time grow into the player we're eventually disappointed to lose. You'll probably find that Ballantyne among the others you've lost are replaceable eventually, but I'll be surprised if it doesn't take time to get there.

I believe the role is more to do with the admin side - contracts etc. Same job title but a different job. Confusing.
Sounds totally unnecessary.

Do a club the size of Queens Park really need a Director of Football and a Head of Recruitment?
Surely the money these guys will be earning would be better spent on a decent player.
I'm not against the idea of a Head of Recruitment if it's done properly; sounds like he's in charge of finding the right players at every level for the club, from young age groups right up to the first team, and there's definitely some benefit to having the same person lead that.
What I don't understand is what the Director of Football's role is now though, as this was part of the previous incumbent's responsibilities. Still, wouldn't shock me if both of these people combined were on a fair bit less cash than the last guy on his own.

Just noticed Queens Park are playing at their wee stadium until at least the 5th of September before returning to Hampden. This will more than likely include a good few league home games. How is this allowed?
This is nothing new, games used to get moved from Hampden (generally to Firhill) semi-regularly at the start and end of season if there were concerts on at Hampden even when we owned it. We beat Aberdeen in the League Cup there early on in the 2006/07 season, for example.

Any chance we could get a rumour or some news about someone exciting actually joining the club? I was hoping this might be a decent summer of continuity and building for next season, but so far it's looking like the opposite.

Also worth noting that 250k is slightly less than the prize difference between finishing 3rd and 8th in the Championship last season. A player of Paton's calibre is worth more than just what you can sell him for (unless he's just absolutely desperate to leave, which would surprise me).

Let's get real, we aren't rejecting a 250K bid for any player.
I don't think so either, but that doesn't mean we couldn't get more. That's in the range of what Ayr got for Akinyemi, who had a lot less time left on his contract, at an older age, from a club playing at a lower level.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but the English media linking Ruari Paton to Port Vale.
250k bid, their fans are claiming.
It's a lot of money but I think his goals are more valuable; we're unlikely to find a proper replacement for him.

The Blue Jays are incredibly bad for a team spending over $221m on their payroll this year. So far off the Yankees and Orioles it's incredible. Not entirely convinced ownership will want to blow the whole thing up though.

Think this could be way off to be honest. Queen’s Park will definitely have the capacity to spend more than us, Partick thistle I reckon we will be roughly comparable to and both Hamilton / Ayr could also be above us here and possibly out bid us for players. Remember it was only last season Hamilton and Cove were able to put together a playing budget more competitive than ours on a fraction of our gates, if an owner is willing to subsidise loses by pumping cash in we are always at risk of being disadvantaged competing for players against these clubs. However I think your probably correct in saying apart from Airdrie and Morton there won’t be that much between the respective playing budgets when it comes to the rest of the clubs outside possibly Livingston who have the parachute payments and Raith who I’m told will continue to be backed by they’re new owners.
Honestly, I hope so. I don't think Davidson came here without the promise of some cash to spend this summer, and our signings last year were mainly kids the previous DOF scouted on an Excel spreadsheet who for the most part didn't work out (hence the massive drop off from the year before) which definitely cut costs so the money should be there. Our best players are all still under contract too, so there's a really solid core to build around, but the lack of even any rumours at this stage is starting to get a bit annoying.

The shirt sales since we moved to Adidas have to be some of the worst ever, you'd think? You hardly see anyone wearing last season's, and I doubt this will be much more popular.

Not going get too angry about the season ticket prices until I see the rest of the league's prices.
From what I can see, our adult ticket is actually the cheapest in the league (not including standing or behind the goal elsewhere) so far.

We knew where we were last year (3rd biggest budget in league one) because of boards speaking to each other about it I believe so I assume it's the same thing.
Interesting. The people running Queen's Park don't tell us anything, so I'd be surprised if they were sharing that sort of info with other clubs, but they probably just don't deem us fans worthy enough to care about!

Davidson's poor judgement aside, that sounds like St. Johnstone's fault for giving him far too much control of those things.
