With the attacking threat QP have with Thomas and Paton, I suspect we'll go for a similar approach on Saturday.

As crazy as this sounds, Cillian Sheridan has also been a massive addition up front for us since he came in. I don't think anyone would've predicted him to look anywhere near as good as he has.

I'd be keen to see us go with two up front again, as we're clearly far more threatening that way. Essentially the same team as the Thistle game with Longridge in for McPherson from the start.

I get the impression that a lot of Queen's fans disagree with me, but I'm quite disappointed we came away with just 2 points from our last 2 games. Things are far too close around us in the league to be taking our foot off the gas the way we did.

Even when we were absolutely terrible this season we matched up fairly well against Raith; no point in dwelling on the fact that we Veldman'd ourselves twice, the players should be going into this feeling like they can win again.

Boras done this with Conforto a couple of years ago and cost him at least a year's salary.

Montgomery still allegedly pushing for a 7 year deal at 31 years old. I know he's been good recently, but considering the Yankees couldn't give him away just a couple of years ago I don't see anybody doing that. A solid number 3 in a decent rotation.

San Diego gave up an awful lot for him.

Admittedly, I'm not overly familiar with the Padres' farm system but this doesn't look like a huge return compared to what they were rumoured to be asking for earlier on this off season (or towards the deadline last year).

I suppose that's why nothing got done before now though!

  4. Dylan Cease to San Diego. Not entirely convinced the White Sox did the right thing with him, they were obviously holding out for the right trade but they've ended up with less than what either Baltimore or some other teams could've offered.

Montgomery and Snell's prices are surely coming down by the day too? Boras is absolutely terrible for baseball, hopefully they end up with disappointing contracts and players stop trusting him.

The other side to that is a Dundee United side that's been top for the majority of the season crash at the final hurdle. They could be done mentally and the expectation gets to them.

Plus they are not in great shape financially and are banking on going straight back up.

Possibly yeah, it's been quite a gruelling season for everyone though so I think the playoffs will be a slog no matter who ends up in them. My biggest concern if I'm Raith, Thistle, or Morton is one of the three falling down to 5th and being replaced by someone in the chasing pack coming into them on good form given how important momentum can be.

  6. Surprised to read a few Thistle fans in this thread say they'd like Raith to win the league. Surely if you're being pragmatic, United finishing second (assuming nobody gets promoted through the playoffs) is a bad thing if you've any ambition of kicking on and challenging for the title next season? I would imagine most teams would rather see the back of them, and hope nobody else with that sort of squad and budget gets relegated.

Unpopular opinion perhaps, but Macron are making some of the nicest & most original kits at the moment, the Dumbarton home kit is a thing of beauty.

This is exactly why I was so disappointed when they gave us such a bland away top, they're usually class. The home one was fine, it just came after Admiral's near perfect effort and we were all adjusting to not having Irn-Bru as a sponsor anymore.

QP seem better organised and "tactically cynical "under greetin faced  Davidson and were rightly aggrieved yesterday, however, they are now surely one of the most moany faced teams in the league  ...Drama Queens whit ! .

It was about time as well. We'd probably be at least 10 points better off playing like this from the start of the season, and that's before the actual improvement in the playing squad that Davidson's signings have made. August to January were absolutely maddening but totally self inflicted; if we stay up though we have the core of a strong Championship squad signed up for next season, which will hopefully only get even better.

Pretty sure I've been hearing that line since about 2014. Darvel's inevitable 'fairytale' meanwhile has already imploded without sight of land.

Fair, but they're already a bit closer than Darvel ever got. And Clyde going down will just be funny anyway.

I’m biased. But Clyde being replaced by fucking East Kilbride is a sickening prospect. A nothing club with nothing about them and nothing to offer.

I mean EK before anyone starts.

EK are going to come up one way or another in the next couple of years, might as well relegate Clyde in the process for a laugh.

Was only listening to our commentary, but they didn’t really raise any questions about whether it was a penalty or not - and although obviously it’s Thistle’s media team, they’re usually not too biased.

From 2 down it’s a decent point, but we need to stop being 2 goals down ideally

The penalty looked like one of the few decisions he might have got right, it was everything else he made an arse of.

  12. Airdrie have scored the fewest goals in the league (joint with Arbroath) and we've had 4 clean sheets in our last 5 games. Hopefully we can stifle them well enough and hit back a couple of times on the counter.

I actually think a draw would be a bad result here. We have a tough run of fixtures coming up, and need to be taking as many points as we can from the teams outside the top 4 unless we want to be in the mix for the relegation playoffs right up until the last day of the season.

f**k it! I’m taking the job if they still want me! We need to ramp up our ambitions as there’s no way I’m accepting that there’s 15 teams in Scotland better than Greenock Morton! Absolutely no chance! If I believed that for a second I wouldn’t be a Morton Supporter! I don’t get that negative attitude at all!

There have been at least 15 teams better than Greenock Morton in Scotland 27 out in the past 30 years if my quick Google search is right, so regularly bucking that trend seems like a reasonable objective to me.

While he doesn't say so explicitly in that interview, he does pretty strongly suggest that he had some mental health issues after being released by Leeds. I think we should all cut the boy some slack and hope that he improves with more time on the pitch.

If that's the case then I obviously hope he's doing better now; like anyone else who plays for us I still hope he does well and   proves me wrong, but I've not seen anywhere near enough from him to believe he has what it takes to compete at this level.

We played Montrose in January in the Scottish Cup. If that's the standard in the top 4 I would say ICT would win the playoff's

I've heard a few comments along the same lines suggesting that whoever finishes 9th will likely stay up, but I think it's far too early to be confident of that.

Having seen us get promoted through them a couple of years ago despite being relatively poor for most of the season, I believe it's all about momentum at the right time.

If Airdrie, for example, were to slide down the table and find themselves in a playoff tie against an on form Alloa I certainly wouldn't be putting any money on them staying up.

Arbroath on the other hand have struggled massively this season, but if they somehow claw their way out of the bottom spot they'll be feeling good about themselves and I'd give them a real shot of staying up.

It's all about how you find yourself in 9th come the end of the season (and the form of the League One playoff sides).

Anyone follow College Baseball? My team the Washington Huskies had a dreadful opening weekend losing their first two with the third ending up being called a 3-3 tie after 17 innings. Hopefully have a better weekend upcoming.

Yeah I casually follow the Maryland Terrapins who have started the season fairly well!

Found this very funny from the Padres Dodgers game tonight:

There is an age limit on Glasgow Cup. If the Sheridan thing is true then it cannot be costing much and is yet another option up front. I have no problem with it.

I believe the age limit is only for Celtic and Rangers as it's their B teams that enter the the tournament, whereas for us, Thistle, and Clyde it's officially our first team despite however many youths we play in it. If I'm not mistaken we're expected to play a certain number of recognised first team players.
