  1. In the entirely same vein as most on here in that it’s a shitshow of a league to try and call, I’m plumping for the following:

    Dundee United
    Dunfermline
    Inverness Caley Thistle
    Raith Rovers
    Queens Park
    Partick Thistle
    Ayr United
    Airdrieonians
    Greenock Morton
    Arbroath

Even if United are muck, they’ll empty Goodwin if it’s not going well and get someone / anyone to get over the line.

David Mitchell has been released by Hibs and was linked to us but he's said when leaving that at his age playing is the most important thing so can probably rule that one out as can't see Sneddon being dropped for him.

If he’s 3rd choice at Hibs he’s maybe seeing it at least as an opportunity to become a no. 1. with us. Would be hugely beneficial to us having an experienced keeper to push Sneddon on further next year IMO.

Off the top of my head, Morton are the only championship club without a confirmed no. 1, so think Mitchell could well rock up at Firhill.

    Which one?

I’d assume Mitchell, I’m sure there was chat that it was lined up to happen in January before we got Firth.
With them having Marshall on the books now, they’ve Macey and Dabrowski as 2nd and 3rd choice so would make sense for them to offload.

Would think Firth would be going back down south and out of our wage bracket but suppose that’s an outside bet too.

Stay away from Camelon. Go to the Graham Hotel or Behind the Wall (grudingly, a decent option for fitbaw).

Or you could go to Sportsters if its open.... Unsure if they maybe just open at the weekend but it always used to get busy for Scotland games.

    Cheers folks.
I’d thought about BTW but had in my head they never had screens. Was obviously in a stupor last time I was there…

    thanks again!

  5. Baffled at the amount of folk thinking Thistle could go up…

We’ve only got a small chance of managing making the final if we can get Tiffoney fit for the run in, in the same way Killie will need Lafferty.
As others have eluded to, Arbroath have had our number for 2 and a half games (As have ICT tbf) so would like them to pip Killie to the league so we’d avoid playoffs with them. Obviously based on the fact I don’t see us winning it. Maybe coz we’d be the underdog but I’d fancy us against Killie in the playoffs over Arbroath or ICT. Probably about on par with Raith and that could go either way.
At the bottom end, QOTS have actually impressed me more than say Morton, but at the end of the day Morton are keeping the ball out the net and scoring goals at the other. Didn’t actually realise Dunfermline were worse off on GD, but still just get the feeling they’ll eventually put a run together. If pushed for an answer I would tout QOTS to go down.

Unfortunately for the league’s sake I think it’ll be 1 up and 1 down. Quality of the league this year is too poor to step up to the premiership but too good for league 1. Going all out I’ll say Cove replacing QOTS and Dundee replacing Arbroath.

Killie to lose a Meh off final on Mehnalties.

  6. Thanks to all for the supportive messages, tips and advice. Genuinely means a lot, even when it does maybe just seem common sense most of the time. I think just airing my views rather than bottling helped massively, felt a lot better yesterday morning.

how does your wife feel about expressing milk so that you can feed the baby. Give her a bit of time off from it and give you a chance to bond with the baby?

We’ve discussed this and with a few events coming up in April / May / June it’ll probably be required anyway. With CoVID at its peak with toddler, I probably missed having that chance to do some feeds with him and maybe why I’m feeling more sensitive around it this time when there’s not been a reason for me not to be helping.

“parenting hell” is a good one to listen to for tips etc.

have listened to a few of these, it does always help hearing others struggling in a “we’re all in the same boat” way.

  7. I’ve debated messaging on here a few times before and always thought it a stupid idea but I’m at a loss who I can talk to and feel I need to get stuff off my chest. I’ll probably not convey what I want to say properly and arguably this should go on the parenting thread, but here goes…

Wife and I had baby number 2 in January, and I’m really struggling with him right now. However I don’t feel I can really talk about it with Mrs. Acon about that because she’s the one with a big scar across her belly, the one in pain from the surgery she had to have and the one stuck under him about 20 hours a day due to the fact she’s breastfeeding and the baby is an absolute gannet.

Not only that, but I genuinely feel like I don’t have any sort of feelings towards baby 2 and that’s seems fcuking mental considering how much I cherish our toddler.

I dunno if it’s just because I’d forgotten a baby literally just shits n cries the now and I must’ve forgotten how that felt when it was toddler at that age, or just the fact there’s 2 of them to contend with now.

I realise it’s probably compounded by the stressed of moving house at the end of March, being the sole earner now she’s only on statutory pay (especially considering she’s the higher earner) and the impending increases on household bills that we absolutely will not be able to afford.

But I just get so angry and worked up at baby crying and it’s taking everything for me to compose myself and relax and help him.

Like I literally told him to shut the fcuk up tonight and then hated myself for it because of how fucking stupid and mental that is. This tiny living thing that I’m meant to love and care for and I’m getting raging because god forbid he needs some attention.

And yet when it comes to toddler I’ll shower him with hugs and kisses until he’s annoyed by me.

I managed to get out with the dog for an hour tonight and it certainly helped to just get some fresh air and perspective, and I’m hoping pressing send on this will help too coz I’ve typed and deleted plenty of messages before and then struggled on with it. Just felt it had come to the fore and needed to express this time.

    Cheers

  8. Meant to be travelling up to Montrose today from Falkirk. The fair lady was having a meltdown yesterday about it and I said we’d wait until today to decide. Seeing everything is meant to subside around 9am, when we’re meant to be leaving.
What’s the verdict from the P&B east coast community?

ETA: I’ve already seen the mention of the A90 N/B shut so I’m leaning towards agreeing with Mrs. Acon and patching it.

  9. I’ll likely be a minority but I fairly enjoyed the game despite the score line. Might be something to do with the sentimentality of being back at Firhill for the first time in around 2 years though.
ICT clearly had the better of the chances and will feel slightly aggrieved to not to have taken the 3 points, BUT from my seat at the bing end of the JHS, I felt pretty sure the ball hadn’t went out of play for our “goal” so be interesting to see if any of the cameras will show that.

Great save from Sneddon for the penalty, glad he’s hitting a bit of form and to spin the consecutive 0-0s positively, it’s nice to see us keep some clean sheets.

Definitely needing some reinforcements in January, as the subs were ineffectual when they came on, granted Murray could’ve been given a bit longer with Tiffoney being poor today.

If you're coming to Witcher 3 cold of all the previous games and books yeah, it'll take a while to get into but you'll find yourself sucked in without realizing it.

Give Gwent a serious go second time round, it's fucking tremendous when you get it.

I’m about an hour into my 2nd play through, totally patched Gwent originally but took a bit longer to try get to grips with it. Already enjoying it 100% more that I’ve paid attention to the tutorial.

Even on higher difficulty the AI is not too difficult to figure out. You can basically throw one round deliberately every time but make the AI shoot its load trying to win it. Then you keep your good cards back for the last 2 rounds and stomp with ease. Spy cards are always your friend.

Are there any other particular tips/tricks other than occasionally throwing the first round? Like best cards to try and purchase / trade?
