  1. I know its doom and gloom and the whole thing is far from over but I just wished/hoped we'd have our moment this time..that joy as the Norn irish, Welsh,  and republic of ireland have had in past Worldcups/euros.....but no.. same old shite. Its the hope that kills you.

  2. Anyone else into Lonely Tourist?  Scottish singer/songwriter who has relocated to Bristol?   Just got his new album and its fecking amazing and I'm just surprised hes not more popular than he is(sorry this isn't a press release - genuine fan here!)

If you are fan of Scottish bands like Ballboy, Frightened Rabbit..real heart on the sleeve stuff..then have a listen

Some absolute cracking lyrics and observations.... for example this tune on his new album talks about phoning yer parents each week -  I currently live away from my folks so do the 'one a week phone call' so this really resonated:

then this one which talks about a guys love of music autobiographies which again I can relate to as its all I read these days -plus not many tunes mention Motherwell Concert Hall!

  3. off topic from the signing chat, apologies...

Another great Walking Down Hope Street Podcast episode with Tony Parks.

Loved him as a player and he was a great listen...

No spoilers but his story of having to borrow a car for a reserve game that got him signed for Falkirk was one of those "what if" moments..

His appreciation of the Falkirk fans, resentment of Old firm fans from provincial towns not supporting their local team...and a little appreciation in that respect to our friends in Fife...

Also his thoughts on Eammon Bannon!

Quite emotional ending to the podcast as I had no idea about his son, and it actually felt he was getting something from talking about it... Good work by all involved.

If you like listening about the good old days then please join in on our 1991 reunion night. Raising money for the Chris Mitchell Foundation and Falkirk Football Heritage. You can ask questions to Sammy, Crawford, Silky and Deeks. Also have clips from interviews with Jim and Billy, Gordon Marshall and Stainrod himself.

Hello, I bought my ticket on Saturday night.  I saw the post about only 38 tickets being sold at that time so it prompted me to.  looking forward to it and hope you get more responses.  I've invited a few of my mates so hopefully they will sign up too.

Pretty wild that, saw a couple of other sites where people are implying we've overreacted as a club but the writing has been on the wall ever since teams learned that all they need to do is put 2 men on Morrison and they can beat us.

All of our problems in the past few years has been in replacing poor players/management with worse ones. I genuinely think we were right to sack Houston/Hartley/McKinnon and M&M when we did but we continually get recruitment wrong which is why we're burning through so many players/bosses. Hopefully the Rawlins can help in some way with that because i simply don't trust our board to make the right football decisions.

yeah , theres even a number of our own fans who see it as an over-reaction...I've just stupidly got into an argument on Facebook(I should know better I know) with someone who has commented that and I quote

"anyone in management position at their work ..next time your staff are under performing I hope to see your resignation too. Lets not see double standards".

I mean where to start on this?

Some other guy saying that we'd only lost three games since the restart and we'd beaten Clyde(not mentioning Clyde had played two days before!)  Wow! If thats the standards some folk expect then these c*nts deserve to watch ear bleeding football..

That Lee Miller interview......how many managers does it take to change a lightbulb?

Shape, shape, shape....ffs. ‘We change our shape to suit the opposition’

What??? I mean, this is 3rd tier, we’ve the biggest budget and we’re top of the league. Just set up a consistent 4-4-2 and dominate. Just don’t confuse players by asking them to perform in a different way each game. Largs mentality, quickest way to failure, proven time and again.

We will be in this division next season.

i think thats exactly what i struggle with..most title winning teams stick to same formation, in fact most pretty much stick to the same starting 11.  We've had this problem for years now where apart from a couple of positions  we chop and change too much to get any continuity.  There will always be injuries and suspensions but generally successful teams know exactly who is playing where.   We should be setting out how we play and let others deal with us not the other way round.

WAS a legend.  Shame to say but it's for the best they split again before he started spouting all this anti vaxxing pish.   I was too young to see them the first time round but I'll never forget the 3 times I saw them after the reunion.  Was in bits at Heaton Park.

Anyway , no got Spotify, what's rooftops?  That a nightclub back in the day?

aye Rooftop......although eveyone calls it Rooftops is/was(no idea if it still exists) on Sauchiehall Street. In the late 1980s was used as venue in Glasgow..i think REM played there and quite a few other decent names for the time.  But it was the first Stone Roses gig in Scotland...(although theres some debate on the Podcast as to whether the Edinburgh gig at the Venue was before or after it)

Was before my time, I narrowly missed out on Glasgow Green and first time I saw them was The Barras in 95/96 and I dont think Reni was with them by that point so doesnt really count.

  8. I'm sure theres a few Stone Roses fans out there. Theres a decent podcast on Spotify at the moment about the Stone Roses Rooftop gig back in 1989.

Good interiews with Tam Coyle and a couple of guys who were at the gig.  Only issue is I think it was done over a zoom chat and one of the guys connection is terrible which you'd think they host would have tried to sort out.

I've no idea how to post a link but if you search Stone Roses Rooftops on Spotify it should come up.

Cannot be bothered googling and , unfortunately , never bought Rock Family Trees

Squires - Neil Young , or some other to be rock hero ?

different Squires i think. Dont think any of these went on to do anything else in music.

However its amazing the amount of famous 70s/80s rock 'stars' that were in garage Bands.  Steven Tyler from Aerosmith was in one who were really great, or had a really great single anyway...i think he mightve been the drummer...tired head isnt letting me remember their name....

These past few years has been awash with rubbish players, rubbish managers, rubbish board members. You’d be hard pushed to find any aspect of the club that hasn’t been rubbish.

100% this.... its not as if we've ever been 'gifted' with any great joy..but we've had glimpses of "sunshine" over the past 20 years to keep believing...whether it be cup runs or promotions(or even play offs even if unsuccessful).  However the past 3-4 years have just been endless sh*te - again i know thats football for you but it can be depressing sometimes...

To me the big thing is the players...its been a few years since I've seen a player in a Falkirk shirt who I would pay money to watch every week.   If you were a wee laddie supporting Falkirk at the moment and yer maw asked you whose name you wanted on the back of yer Falkirk replica top....who the f*ck would you choose in the past couple of years?...McManus last year but he wasnt even ours!

We've been blessed with some amazing flair players over the years...and even a few cult(yes correct spelling) figures who might not have been skilled but could put the effort in and we loved them for it... both those type of players are arguably exactly what fans want.....someone who can wow you from the stand or someone who makes you believe they are as passionate about the club as you are.....Maybe I'm being harsh but I'd struggle to name anyone from our current team that fits either of those categories

  11. f*ck me! wheres this come from?!  I've been pretty non-plussed over the past few months...even at one point my brother texting me about the Israel 1-1 game afterwards and I didnt even know we were playing.  Not in "I dont care about the National team" way...more in a "hard to get excited about it" way.  I do live in England though....

Anyway, got butterflies about this now.... me and a mate were talking about World Cups and Euros....I remember vaguely Spain 82, but Mexico was first big tournament I got into.

One I keep forgetting about is Euro 92...I swore we didnt qualify but we did...I think its around when i started drinking so maybe that explains it!

I was waiting for the usual benevolent late penalty to get Falkirk out of trouble, and sure enough. Also as expected, no recognition of how well the opposition played from Falkirk fans.

Says a fuckign million after yer result today, you feel the need. God bless you my fifer friend
