We could lessen the impact of our smaller budget by having an artificial pitch.

Yet to see a good game on an artificial pitch so no thanks, I also heard talk Les Hutchison looked into that when he first came in and was quoted nearly £2 million for it due to the slope we have and is far cheaper to go with the superb grass we have now.

There's yer Scott Mullen tweeting. "Understood" Aldred, McHugh and Gorrin all away. Wee Al has been offered a new deal.

Presumably that's in addition to (at least) Main. No great surprises there other than Campbell being offered a new deal. I'm 1,000,000% on board with it but given he's still got 2 years on his current one it's good news he's being "rewarded" (should he choose to sign).

I had actually meant to say after listening to the Mo Ross interview, one of the consistent highlights recently has been hearing the coaching staff lose their shit about how great Campbell is.

Not a great surprise at those leaving and no doubt a good few more to follow them as well.   Declan Gallagher coming you could say is probably a replacement for Aldred.

A Thistle supporting pal described Carroll to me last night as "Average-poor, a slightly less injury prone ATS".

    So that's exciting.

In honesty it sounds like for like with ATS, a squad player who's a natural left back without the knees made of wet cardboard. It allows Tait to revert back to RB but isn't necessarily going to block Livingstone getting in the side. It might even mean Livingstone can get a 6 month loan or something with Tait still an option for LB.

I mean, going by the reviews from Cambridge fans it's a pretty fucking low bar for Livingstone to clear if he wants to get in the first team.

Having had a nose about Hartlepool's forum while it's hardly glowing there are a few "there's a player there", "had ability"-type posts  going on re: Carroll.

Edit: By my count, based on the players we've got contracted this leaves us about 6 bodies short (5 if Fané signs up) and tbh I still don't have a clue where Donnelly's supposed to fit.

GK: Gillespie / Carson / Ferguson
    RB: Tait / Grimshaw
CB: Gallagher / Maguire / (Donnelly)
    CB: Dunne / Hartley
    LB: Carroll / Livingstone
    CM: Campbell / ?
    CM: ? / ?
    CM: Turnbull / Polworth
    FW: ? / Semple
    FW: Scott / Johnson
    FW: ? / ?

Donnelly can also play at right back and actually played as a holding midfielder with Northern Irelands under 21 side,  next season will be make or break for him with us.

Hartley has never been the same player since his injury last year and doesn't partner well with Aldred. I expect he'll be off in the summer along with Main, Hastie, Aldred, Sammon McCormack and Johnson, whom I all expect to move on. This summer will be a massive job to rebuild the squad after last summer's disaster and will be massive for Robinson to get it right because a repeat of summer 2018 for him will see him on borrowed time.

The work has already began, Robinson is quoted as saying in an article by Graham Speirs at the weekend that he has 2 new players signed for the summer on minimal money, again I think that's to downplay the kind of budget he has to other clubs,  it would certainly be interesting to know who the 2 players are, one possibly the boy Gallagher from Livingston, arguably may be Aldred's replacement if he isn't staying put.

See, I may be misremembering but I thought Killie fans were of the opinion that McCulloch was a decent enough coach who just didn't really work out as first team manager.

The impression I get with the whole pathway thing up to the u20s/Reserves is that we're keen for whoever we appoint to be someone who has come through the Academy (or YTS as it was) or at the very least "knows" the club. If that's the case (and I may well be wrong) then it's a pretty limited field.

I may just be jumping to conclusions since Craigan and McManus were the previous coaches but given McCulloch made 147 appearances for us and went on to be a Scotland international and has some management experience then seeing as we were interested in him for the role he fits that sort of mould.

Ultimately I guess if we're trying to pitch the club to kids/parents then rightly or wrongly having known faces in those coaching roles is probably going to be viewed as a selling point along with our "Elite" status.

Seeing as his assistant manager role with Scotland is a pretty part-time gig I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we ended up giving it Faddy 'til the end of the season.

That's true as well, I noticed the Sun breaking the news a wee while ago that they think Maurice Ross is now set to get the job having gone through some coaching session with McCulloch in front of senior management and Robinson chose him, how true that is I don't know but made for interesting reading.

Total lies from me...he does mention ATS. He's broken...again.

Edit: In other news it looks like McCulloch's patching us to take a coaching role at United. To date, the assailant remains at large etc.

Back to the drawing board on that one eh? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Motherwell_F.C._players

Quite happy about that one to be honest, had my reservations about McCulloch after his disaster at Killie, however I get the reserves job is totally different from first team level.

Would hope they get a replacement in fairly quick as reserves due to start back v Hamilton next week.
