Realistically speaking, much of the team that played for us tonight weren't even second string. Craig Wighton is only 16 and expected to go out on loan, Cammy Kerr is our third choice RB, Nicky Riley and Kyle Benedictus have been told they are free to find new clubs. We made 8 substitutions and it was a mix of everyone. Even if that's Heart's second string I'd be concerned because one thing you need in the Championship is depth and if that's Heart's depth then it doesn't look good in regards to challenging for the title in my opinion.

Pretty clear that McGhee and McKay aren't a good partnership (yet). Not that it's a massive deal, as they won't be starting competitive games together unless there's a pile of injuries.
I'd imagine McGhee will spend a fair bit of time in the under 20's this season and McKay has a lot to prove if he wants to make it at Hearts.

Of the team that started tonight's game, I reckon you'd only expect Paterson, McHattie and Buaben to start the proper games. Still got Alexander, Wilson, Ozturk, Gomis, Walker, Nicholson, El Hassnaoui and Sow to come in.
Second choice side against a team who look like they could do well in the league above us this season.
Asbolutely nowt to worry about. The real stuff starts on Saturday (thank f**k).

Delighted with the signing of Sow, looks very good from what I've seen. We need something different up front with Keatings, Oliver and Carrick being so similar.
This window really could not have went any better for us. Whatever happens this season, we've given ourselves the absolute best chance of success, which is something that hasn't been said by Hearts fans too much over the years.

Thoughts on callum tapping? He was on trial with airdrie today and looked very good
Neat and tidy player. Good technically.
He wasn't good enough to be an SPL midfielder (or certainly not in the circumstances we faced last season), but he'll be a good player at a lower level.

Number five won't be with us for any length of time.
Looks a quality player.

Really enjoyed that tonight.
That's the best I have seen Hearts in possession since 2005. Some really outstanding bits of play.
Gomes and Bauben. Good lord.
