Are you surprised there is a malaise over the club?

look at the way some of the fans talk about their own club, you can be disappointed in results but you get idiots that spend more time with personal agendas bringing the club down.   The same people wonder why no one in the community wants to support the club and you just have to look at the way a certain element react on social media for the whole community to see.

The so called happy clappers seem to get a ripping but at least they are out there cheering on the team even if it seems to displease the two contrarians that can’t get over the past when they thought they were the main fans.

Who are the 2 contrarians you speak of?

I think most of the fans are a bit concerned with where the clubs end goal is with the numerous repetitive sign and release method.

Let’s be honest Cove are not a very attractive club for any player to go to. Poor facility, poor fan base, a real lack of leadership. I can see the club slowly following the likes of Edinburgh City sooner or later

Ended 2-0 with O'Hara knicking a goal from a misplaced square pass across the front of the 18 yard box.

Although a more even 2nd half with Cove having more possession without doing anything with it, Dunfermline looked comfortable and fully deserved of the win. Can't think of us having any shots on goal which is hugely unlikely us.

It's pre-season so can't read hugely into it but the performance was lacking and my concerns about CB and lack of pace and creativity in the centre of midfield still stands.

Walk away from the ground today thinking this highlights the need for us to make signings. About 4/5 regulars needed along with better subs than Robbie Leitch, Leighton McIntosh, Kyle Gourlay and youngster Rhys Thomas.

Interesting to see what level our surely impending signings are. If we can't improve on our starting XI then it will be a big reliance on loans.

I'll make an early claim that Hartley is a superior manager and that McIntyre won't get anymore out of the existing players than he did. Doesn't have the voice or prescence it seems. Therefore, even more imperative he can add quality to the squad through new bodies

Wow that was a hard watch. Dunfermline looked far better and fitter than we did, maybe that’s to be expected? Only Scully really had pass marks for me, perhaps Blair too based on second half.
Fyvie and Vigurs look really poor as did Reynolds and Neill. But as you say it’s Orr season but would definitely need at least 5 strong signings

  3. Would agree with most of the points here. Cove only deserved the win based on the fact we have a striker that can put the ball into the net.

Montrose dominated second half and would have deserved an equaliser if they had a half decent striker. Our keeper wasn’t tested enough.

Montrose, Falkirk and Queens only teams I’ve seen come to Balmoral and actually have a go. I’d like to see Montrose go up.

Cove are grinding out results but I can definitely see a bad run coming. An injury to Mitch and we’ll eventually crumble

Have we not learnt from Ross Draper 🙄.

Reynolds I reckon is far too old, slow and just past it. Barely kicked a ball in months too.

Let's tap into Dundee United but go younger, i.e Ross Graham or even Lewis Neilson if we want cover at CB. Meekinson, Mochrie, Chalmers; any of those would be good additions. Probably unlikely to get any as TC is giving youth a chance but if they buy a few then might let a couple out.

    Reckon Ola will be away?

Ola will surely be away. Problem with Hartley is he takes in so many players and expects them to shine, doesn’t really have time to help them develop. Apart from Glass, how many players could you say we’ve taken on Loan and they’ve went back a better player? Maybe Ross Graham too

I haven't heard any rumours but I'd be shocked if we extended Ola Adeyemo who's 3 months are up in January.  Would leave us with just 2 strikers, and Leighton - sigh.

We have 1 loanee, Finn Robertson, who I think might also depart back to Dundee. Not getting enough minutes and surplus to requirements.

Hoping we don't get Draper back from Elgin. He's stinking out L2 by the sounds of it.

I think we need a quality winger and another striker.  Hoping we might be able to attract a decent calibre of pler although getting a striker in on loan could be difficult as clubs will look at Mitch and Rory and question what game time their player will realistically get. Would like to see a Jamie Gullan or equivalent (not realistic tbf) or would easily take Euan Henderson if he was recalled from Alloa. What we end up getting is anyone's guess. Hartley's standout loanee was Declan Glass.

I wouldn't be surprised if we asked Dundee United about Ross Graham (CB) until the end of the season, was good for us last season. Currently at Dunfermline but failing there in all honesty.

    How about Mo?

Heard from a Dundee United fan that Mark Reynolds is on his way to Cove in January

Agreed about the wind ruining the game. I thought Montrose edged the match overall and had some good opportunities coming from the wings.

Cove were fairly poor in position and looked disjointed at times. Apart from Mitch's chance which he put over the bar when one on one we didn't offer much.

All really tight at the top. Impressed again with Montrose. Solid team with no really weakness

    Agreed

I think Montrose were the better team and should be disappointed not to have taken any of their chances.

we were fortunate to come away with a point having only had 1 real good opportunity.

montrose are a really good team though

    Moment of reflection

Ola looked promising against Albion when he came on but on Saturday he looked "raw". Missed placed passes, not overly composed but did hold the ball up well at times. Bull in a China comes to mind. Certainly no danger of nabbing Rory or Mitch's place.

Interested to see more but I doubt he's capable of making an impact in L1 and doesn't have the quality imo to propel us towards winning the league. Could maybe get game time at RW but only if we play Yule in the middle and drop Leitch who is weak and only mildly better than Broque.

We had the whole summer to look for a 3rd striker and could have enquired our HL neighbors, Fraserburgh, about  Scott Barbour or gone for Russell McLean, Salim Koudissa or Michael Ruth.

Or we could have used the loan market to get Kyle Connell or someone of his ilk.

Our use of the loan market was appalling. 1 in and it's a defensive CM, last thing we needed. Connor Smith, who we had last season, an AM is what we were crying out for. Now on loan at our rivals QP.

    Midfield is a MESS.

Shame because our best back 4 and our 2 strikers are good enough to challenge/win the league. Hartley can't see the CM issue. Vigurs, never been subbed, is someone I'd bench right away. The thought of seeing him stroll around the outside of our box pointing for the next 2 and half years grates on me.

Any Cove fans think Scully and Yule at CM would be the best partnership? I do, granted they'd score no more than a couple of goals between them in a season  @JamesMunro

I’d definitely like to see that, but I also worry with who we’d put out on wings? Masson and Ola? Robertson?

Has Jevan Anderson even put on a Cove shirt yet?

wasn’t at the game today but have heard we played really well

Productive meeting with a ban overturned I hope?

Not really productive, it felt like we were talking to a politician

Sheran thinks Hartley can take us all the way to the premier league

Claims he doesn’t know why Stewart was dropped (not believing that)

Won’t be overturning our bans as he isn’t convinced we won’t be negative

Hopefully you get that over turned!

Sheran would have us higher than Hartley.

Sheran was a far superior manager, he cared about the players, the fans and the youth. He installed a “anything less than a win is unacceptable” attitude and that made the players play with urgency and desire, something is lacking nowadays. We seem happy enough with draws etc

Disappointing result again.  Hopefully be back to winning ways soon.

I notice the Cove facebook page is quite quiet tonight.  Wondering if the club have started to censure posters they don't like.....

I can confirm they have blocked myself and Craig and we are both meeting John Sheran on Wednesday evening

Well done Clyde. Still unbeaten against Cove. Good 3 points today.

Cove can feel hard done by but ultimately didn't do enough and defensive frailties cost us extremely dear again.

When was our last clean sheet? I’m absolutely baffled Gourlay continues to play in goal

Saturday sees East Fife travel up to Balmoral to face a Cove side without a League win so far this season, admittedly two games in, and only one win in six since the PS cup started.

Cove will be without Fraser Fyvie who petulantly got himself sent off against QP. Hard to know how we'll fair; will we show up like we did against ICT and look like a formidable team or will Hartley's team selection and formation stunt our style of play. I've made it very clear on P&B so far my thoughts on Draper, Gourlay and Morgyn Neill and will be less than impressed if any start.

If Gourlay plays ahead of McKenzie after his double clanger which cost us the 2nd goal against QP then there will be a revolt! Link below and goal at roughly 7 mins 25 seconds.

Basically shoot from anywhere and any high ball into the box is a guaranteed spill! If McKenzie (L1 Keeper of the season 2020-21) plays then I'll feel confident in our GK.

Whatever happens we will be desperate for 3 points and have something to prove that's for certain.

East Fife should feel this is a good time to play Cove and with the addition of Kyle Connell on loan from Killie there is an attacking threat. Jamie Semple recently signed as well. Didn't get more than a few minutes it seemed for us but will be interesting to see him in action.

Jamie Masson could return to the squad tomorrow but I only expect him to come on as a sub given he's been out for 6 months. He'll bolster our attacking threat and be an improvement on Leitch or Leighton McIntosh.

Another week passes and yet no sign of a striker. We only have Mitch and Rory which for a side aiming for promotion to the Championship feels light in depth for me.

My starting lineup would be below. If Masson is fit enough to start then he'd be my LW.

Draper plays then your midfield will walk by him at ease.

    lineup (1).png

Good team, albeit McIntosh but I guess there isn’t much else to replace him with, one Masson is fully fit then swap them two and that should probably be our starting team going forward

You missed a complete cluster f*ck from Gourlay.

There will certainly be more questioning his signings, treatment of players right now (McKenzie and Scully), persistence on playing his new signings and for me his team selection/formation.

    Looking at his signings:

    McIntosh

    Leitch

    Watson

    Higgins

    Gourlay

    Neill

    Draper

    Jevan

Those 8 you got to say are poor. Jevan only had 20 minutes today must be said. Didn't look like he'd threatened a start.

Fyvie I like but only effect in the position Vigurs is now playing. I don't see how he and Vigurs can really work. To similar for me. PH will never drop Vigurs.

Vigurs, Shay and Rory decent but have a theme to them!

Need to get GK and back 4 settled. We have big problems in CM, completely disrupted by the new signings. No capable wingers doesn't help our cause. Masson will improve things.

I hate seeing Fyvie in number 10 and Mitch isolated up top himself. Vigurs and Draper in the middle are severely lacking pace and rarely support an attack.

We're still sitting here 1+ year on a Mitch injury away from being toothless. Instead of taking in similar players or 4 defenders how about address a partner for Mitch.

Ahree, recruitment continues to be poor, or that our manager is incapable of getting the best out of them? Surely all these signings can’t be bad players

Gourlay is horrendous, we could end up being a load of points away from the top after a few weeks if he continues to play in goal.

I think Fyvie plays well if he’s confident of the team selection?
same with Mitch, bad for letting his aggression take over and gives up easily when it’s not going his way

I’ve got a bad feeling it’s going to be W long season

  14. 3 minutes ago, CoveRangers1922 said:

Agreed, we were fortunate to get a point from that.

Was McKenzie not fit? If Hartley purposely played Gourlay ahead of Stuart he needs to have a really long think to himself. L1 keeper of the season and then benches him for a youngster who has no relationship with our defence and looks shaky.

Rory took it very well. Thought Draper was a passenger and if I were Scully I'd be pissed off being dropped

Think Hartley wants Gourlay as number 1!

the problem was, he brings on Scully and then plays him left wing? Was he too scared to sub Draper/Vigurs?

What a dismal and disjointed performance by Cove today. Both halves I thought we were miles off our best. Apart from Blair Yule and Scott Ross not many had a good game.

I hope Hartley doesn't persist with Gourlay and Draper, latter was woeful and former gives me the fear.

Missed Strachan at the back and Masson on the wing.

Supposedly we are looking to bring in another striker very soon. Is needed.

As for Falkirk, Morrison is a stand out, really like his pace and directness. Nesbit was lively at times but hard to judge as he was walking away from Draper. McGuffie is decent from what I saw. A clinical striker very much needed. Wilson is a let down, tries but I can't see him getting enough goals to satisfy the Bairns.

Falkirk fans behind the goal were loud which adds to the atmosphere 👌

Was just away to say I thought we were very fortunate to get a point there. Lovely finish from Rory though.
Besides that, their keeper has had nothing to do and I think Falkirk should be disappointed they didn’t get the 3 points today, they look a lot fitter and faster than us.

New keeper is awful, he has no confidence in crosses.

No new signings so far this week. There was rumour of Mark Reynolds and Iain Vigurs but nothing has materialised. To be honest I'm not massively keen on either but an experienced CB would help, just one with some pace too! We need to target our signings where we need strengthening

I hope Hartley is trying his best to bring in another quality striker. @JamesMunro you of the opinion we need another striker if we want to challenge for automatic promotion? For me it's key and if we don't recruit well here we'll end up over relying on Mitch for goals. Sure Masson will get a few but we know there aren't many others who will get more than a couple each over a full season. Another striker who can give us 10+ goals and link up with Mitch will change the whole dynamic.

Sorry just noticed this, but yeah definitely think we need a quality striker in case Mitch gets injured. But also think Vigurs/Draper will add goals which is something we missed when Masson/Milne got injured

    Finally some good signings though!
Perhaps need another strong centre back and forward and I’d be feeling confident of a great season
