Nobody has managed a third-placed finish while playing group stage fitba yet, but I think we're well-placed to do it next season.

A lot of comings and goings ahead, but we've known that we're going to finish third since about the turn of the year, so I'd imagine we're reasonably well down the recruitment path already. Three signed for next year, all of whom seem reasonable squad additions to me. We'll have money to spend, and nobody we want will be signing for any other non-OF team unless they overpay for them. Which is fine.

Hibs and Aberdeen will both surely be less bad next season, but neither have really had a good team for years now, and I don't see anything we should be intimidated by or fearful of. Aberdeen have a model that makes them money from player sales, but is a recruitment model that gets you bottom six two years in three something for us to worry about? Hibs are more of an unknown, but as things stand today we have no reason to be overly concerned by them.

Bottom line is, we aim for 65 points again, and that'll probably do the job.

Yep - Aberdeen will be stronger, but I feel they will still be unfocused due to their money being needed for stadium issues. They might get it right, but I'm not too worried.  Hibs are a basket case, and I actually really like them, they're funny.

First time we’ve been in Europe three seasons on the bounce

This will be at least 20 European games in three seasons after 18 in the previous 15 years

it’s at times like this I’m  quite glad we didn’t let the club die

Beautiful.  3rd place guaranteed with a manager that everyone laughed at us appointing. Meanwhile Hibs are struggling away in the bottom 6, lapping up Montgomery's words about being best team just not getting the breaks..

That page has been taken down by our neighbours. Wonder why? anyway yes I agree, though I am glad we re now entering the stage of big sponsors next season, with money that can make an impact.

    Discuss.

Killie coming into this one with confidence after blitzing St Mirren, I'll be sensible and predict a score draw.

Spot on, and fair dues - Killie are really good team this season and the fair result was a draw. I'd say you deserve 4th at the end. Only criticism I have is that Shanks needs to fall when fouled. (A player who struggles on and doesn't fall like a shot deer, ain't going to get anything with refs like Collum.

Still waiting for the rangers statement from Suundsy’s game

Hmm, not sure if you are serious or deflecting from your own fans behaviour, especially away. I agree with you about cutting the OF seating [we do it already], I really do have to ask you one question. Following the derby, where a knife with a blade and a corkscrew, which had the blade opened, was thrown from your own supporters at Shankland, do you not think it is appropriate for at least a comment from Hibernian FC? (or do you think it was not a serious enough incident?)

We've got a top 3 attack and a bottom 3 defence - so it feels easy to predict another high scoring draw. In reality, Hearts will have too much for us - if I was betting, I'd go for 3-1 here.

It honestly doesn't feel like shuffling the defenders is going to change too much - the level of panic when an inswinger comes in from the first corner is going to be there regardless.

At this point, the idea of keeping it tight for an hour and getting the home crowd annoyed which is the standard away game plan in our league is just a fantasy - so f**k it, gung-ho attacking for 90 minutes it is.

We are still mostly slow to start, so probably a good strategy for 'Well. Thing is, our second halfs are good.

Do you think Bournemouth being in Europe regularly seems likely? Again, I'd argue their obstacles to that are huge.

As for Hibs, Hibs need to finish third and then negotiate the qualifying rounds (unseeded at least for the next few years), or finish 4th - 5th and negotiate multiple qualifying rounds (unseeded). And, should they manage that, a relatively small number of players who don't even feature at Bournemouth yet (and possibly never will) will get to play a few games in Europe. If they play group stage football once every five years, they'll be doing well.

Got to be honest, that strains credulity as a rationale for a successful business person giving a football club millions of pounds.

In short, getting Hibs into Europe regularly will cost quite a bit, probably not happen all that often, and deliver pretty meagre rewards for a minority investor. It doesn't add up.

I agree - I would say none of us know how it'll work out. As someone who actually enjoys the rivalry we have in Edinburgh, I hope it works but not that well 🙂

Oh it's not alcohol.  It's an alcohol related app/software company apparently.  😄  Doesn't matter anyway, it's the name that is funny and tin-pot. Bevvy 😍😂

It would be cool if Hearts/Partick Thistle could organise a pre-season friendly at Firhill.   Many Hearts fans would be happy to help the Jags and it's an excellent away day.  I'm sure plenty tickets could be sold.

Came on to say this - there's been some discussion about it on some Hearts forums and social media and Firhill makes a great day out. Think it could sell out tbh. I know you want to sort it out yourselves, but both teams would benefit. Gutted with what happened in the play-off btw, but that's fecking football.

This last Union Bears one has actually fried my brain a little bit.

It says "congrats" on the advertising hoardings and their end is filing out, so we can safely assume that's a photo taken at full time?

In which case, did Union Bears manage to find out what Bhoys Celtic were going to display at full time if Celtic won (we set the standards banner)?

So, as a killer response, Union Bears brought along another banner which mentions Celtic's paedophilia, just in case Rangers lost.

They actually brought along a banner to the ground which would only make sense to show to the world if you thought your team were going to lose.

That must be the famous winning mentality I've heard so much about from Rangers.

I wouldn't care if both teams were suddenly moved to the English leagues. Why are you, as a so called Hibs supporter so pro Celtic? You should try and understand that the religious nonsense really has to go. Maybe we can all have a good discussion then?

I take it Zander Clark having his head cut by one of the many projectiles thrown from the hibs fans is just being put down to exuberance?

Exactly.  We can afford to cut their allocation and still sell out easily.  Hibs can't.  Not a peep about the incident from Hibernian F.C. yet, though I am waiting for some sort of response.

Well played fellas, the European football is probably the biggest realistic financial prize outside the OF spots and you've taken it at a canter.

Was fearful that yesterday would be a disaster in terms of fan behaviour but actually met many sound Hearts fans and a good time was had by all, bar that one roaster in Waverly with the jesters hat at around 07:30.

With that in mind would be happier for yourselves to win than any of the Glasgow sides so good luck for the final, not sure I'll watch but all the best!

From what I saw, and feedback from mates, the pubs were mixed with both sets of supporters and generally everyone was fine, there'll be nutters running around, but yeah the post game time was fine for us.
