  1. Maps to the Stars - David Cronenberg's latest film about the weird and sick World that Hollywood life consists of. To reveal the plot outline would be to give too much away but incest, sexual promiscuity, murder and a bit of animal cruelty/brutality give you a clue that this isn't a retread of "The Player".

It's more like a horror film in its truest sense and the black humour is perfectly contained therein. Watch out for Jullianne Moore who plays a faded actress and narcissistic sociopath who despite her abhorrent behaviour deserves a very very tiny bit of sympathy. John Cusack plays a ridiculous new age parasite who lives off his child's acting.

    Brilliant, compelling and shocking.

  2. Fear ( 1996 )

Reese Witherspoon is some innocent girl, and Mark Wahlberg is a bit of a creepy new boyfriend. That's yer story, and to be fair, it's not bad. Especially the boyfriend's interactions with other people, and her dad in particular. So aye, I liked it.

Yeah this was very entertaining. Wahlberg, Reese Witherspoon, Alysa Milano and William Peterson (who was really good) held my interest throughout. Well written and acted and very underrated in my opinion. It was probably one of the best horror/thrillers of that year

  3. White Bird In a Blizzard: Really interesting premise about the disappearance of a bored and enigmatic housewife (Eva Green) leaving her 17 year old daughter (Shaline Woodley) confused as this young girl embarks on a path of sexual experimentation with her directionless boyfriend (Siloh Fernandez) and then older men in the shape of the detective investigating her mother's vanishing (Thomas Jane). Her father (Chris Meloni) seems bewildered and angry but utterly helpless and hopeless at providing guidance to his daughter. The screenplay is dreadful and has that terrible habit of putting misplaced poetry and insight into characters who simply wouldn't talk like that. I also found the film depressing and generally uninvolving with unlikeable characters.

  4. I heard pupils taking about the vote today. Some who I thought were Yes voters were actually No. Putting aside any personal view I was very impressed by their maturity and eloquence when discussing with their Yes-supporting peers - they actually made a better case than any BT politician I have heard.

i despise all politicians and the BT campaign was pathetic. Really reactive

  5. Yeah but still not answering the actual question are you? What information are they going on to make them think it is more likely that No will win? There is nothing to go on - other than the amount they would lose if No win.

If you'd been on this forum for longer than 10 minutes or actually had bothered reading some of the threads - you'd find that plenty of us have been saying that 16-17 year olds are a stronger No than many other age groups. So whatever view you think is 'established', it is only established in your head.

H_B said there was zero chance of a Yes victory only a few weeks ago. He, like the entire British establishment, the mainstream media, and most of all the BT campaign have been absolutely shiting themselves recently.

I'm new to the forum so I hadn't read that previously but I did anticipate your venomous and tear stained reaction. The article is interesting because it's relevant to the thread and a lot of what the experts say may be wrong although betting odds tend to be accurate. I think you'll find that most people thought it would be tight

  6. HB is looking at this from a calculative perspective and some of the Yessers are challenging him. The "emotional" sh**e is out of place though.

It is interesting the assumptions the No side have made around "quiet" voters and the reverse swing. I'm not keen on assumptions ;)

However the Edinburgh University study showing youngsters voting No is another contradiction to the established view.

Objectively I think it'll be a No narrow victory. This article is interesting although the No estimations are overly optimistic:

  7. The Yes vote on here dismiss the Polls and the Bookies Odds, but would be creaming themselves if the picture was reversed!

    All I hear is noise!

Still all to play for without a doubt, but stop spouting that its all pish when you would love to be in this position at this stage.

Have you not got a story about talking to a group of people outside the house who were Yes and then you talked them into voting No?
