I know absolutely nothing about him which can only be a bad sign but we are apparently about to sign Liam Donnelly. What's he like?

Hes a fairly average premiership centre-mid. If you can keep him fit, he's a decent player to have, but for us, he struggled to put together any consistent runs in the team..

Gutted to find out the Brass and Granite is shutdown.

Don't fancy the dons that much and I expect Killie to score against our poor defence.

I believe it is back open albeit under new owners.

Is there a Killie PPV for this?  I’ve had such a lovely time over Christmas. It really needs to stop.

You should be able to buy a match pass here.

Seems mad that Sky would want extra fixtures when they don't show their full allocation as it is and that the SPFL would accept less money per game (around 425k down from around 510k I think?).

I don't actually think they do, if you look at the deal while we are offering 60 games they are actually only required to show 42 which is still lower than what they can potentially show now. My reading of the above is those extra games would only become 'attractive' if their renegotiation with the EFL loses them games and they need to fill some space in the schedule.

So, you have 2 stands operational.

I know that offices are going into the rear of one of the other 2. What’s up with the 4th?

The Frank Beattie is not compliant with EAC Covid regulations. The turnstiles are deemed too narrow and the toilets are inside the stand with only one door for both entry and exit which stops a one way system being in place

  5. In pre-season, I have been happy with our overall play for the most part. As other posters have mentioned, we look short upfront. I am still not convinced that Innes has enough to be one of our main strikers this year.

In this game, I think it could go either way. We have dominated play in the last two games without being clinical enough to put teams away convincingly. I haven't followed how Ayr have been doing in pre-season apart from their first game, where most of their posters seemed irate at Hopkin. As such, I am not too sure where their strengths lie. Though some recent comments seem to suggest their defence has improved somewhat over the past few weeks.

If we can get a striker in, I think we could get a comfortable 2-0 win. Otherwise, a tight affair with us winning is most likely.

  6. So dejected after throwing away the three points. Overall we did pretty well in the first half and played some decent football for once, unfortunately we receded in the second half back to the mean, I would have brought on Pinnock to give us some more fresh legs in the second half to try and get us up the park more to nick a goal.

Be an odd question, but are you lads happy enough with Alex Dyer after Clarke?

It feels like we'll be going down a similar route if Callum Davidson replaces TW.

For what its worth I think the support are heavily divided on Dyer at the moment. The general consensus I would say is that we play better football under Dyer but we don't play winning football when compared to Alessio or Clarke.

Under the previous two there was plenty of games where we played some absolutely rubbish football but managed to sneak a goal or hold out for a draw. This was mainly down to the game management, especially under Alessio if we got a goal we would almost stop trying to play football and just keep the ball in the middle of the park for 40-50 minutes and shut the other team out completely.   Not nice to watch but it had us at one point sitting very comfortably in the top 6.

Whereas with Dyer we seem to score a fair bit and knock the ball around well but then let teams back into the game, this is especially true with the last two Aberdeen games where we should have road out a victory but collapsed towards the end of the games. There is also plenty of the usual speculation that he is the puppet of the players cause he is seen as too close to them to manage them.

Some in his defence point to the fact that our squad is lacking in depth, for example our left back Hamalainen had played about 5 games professionally before coming to us on loan but has been our only left back option all season. O'Donnell has played god knows how many games the past three seasons with Scotland games chucked in as well without much of a break.

Personally I would want some else in, the fact he prefers Broadfoot over Del Fabro is something that puzzles me, seeing as the Del Fabro and Findley partnership was one of the key reasons why we had a great spell under Alessio. Not to mention that it lends credence to the idea he is playing second fiddle to the players.  He also said at the AGM that Stephen Hendrie had not impressed him at all yet in his post match after the Hamiltion game where Hendrie had played he said that Hendrie had been training well for months and that he was impressed with his skill. Not exactly the worst lie to tell but it doesn't lead me to then trust other things you say.

  8. I say we move to a top division of 18, everyone plays once home and away and that's it. No splits or any of that nonsense. 3 up and 3 down with no playoff's. The removal of 4 games from the calendar allows us to have a proper winter break without cramming everything in when we get back.

The championship can be reorganised into a 16 team league along the same principles.

The remaining 8 teams for the current setup can be moved into new regional leagues.

    Swapping Robertson and O'Donnell?

Ok, it's mental, but it might just work!

All we need to do is convince Belgium they're shooting the wrong way, then let Hazard, De Bruyne et al do the damage to themselves. :)

Had my sides all mixed up. Maybe I should take up your idea and post the Belgian team the wrong way on their pie and bovril.

    Absolutely this.

What if they had no other offer? By all means it seems BT Sport have just given up and it's not likely that Premier Sports are going to rival them.

This is an absolute kick in the baws.

All I'm trying to point out is that there are numerous places reporting the deal at the £30 million mark rather than the BBC's £20 million.

In regards to why I don't think they would accept £20 million, it's simply because it's not a major increase. Bidding only closed a few weeks back and according to a record article we passed on a new deal 18 months ago so why would we suddenly rush to accept a bad deal.

A five year deal seems fairly short-sighted as well. For the deal to only be worth £20m a season or so in 2025 when it was worth 17.5m in 2017 is serious undervaluing the league.

Worth noting some of the championship clubs down south are kicking up a fuss about their tv deal not being worth enough.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46267320

The Scotsman is still claiming it is £30 million a season. I don't see how the clubs would accept £20 million.

  12. The key thing here imo is that we are getting significantly more money. Hopefully the fact that it is set to become an exclusive Sky property means that we get better coverage and more attention placed on our league.  Another bonus is were are no longer signing up for 4-5 years at a time so if it doesn't work out then  if sky wrestle back the champions league then BT might swing round and try and bid heavily for our rights.

  13. I think there is a bit of wishful thinking coming from Dundee united fans. I don't doubt that there are serious financial problems down at rugby park but I cannot imagine that we budgeted that badly that we run out of money half way through the season. However this is just guessing on my part and Im sure people with closer contacts to the club will have a better insight into the going on's at our club than I do.

  14. I dont think free tickets are included as many have been saying we have as many as 500 free tickets on top of each given figure which would take us to 3500. Around the agm the figure was quoted as being 2500 i find it hard to believe that we could only sell 500 tickets in a month that why i believe that it is not including the free tickets.
