I assure you that I am in no way above a bear. Especially not when out camping with a bottle of Eldorado and a few cans of super down me.

That's when they call Bear Patrol and they come and tranquilize the bear and relocate it back into the wilderness.

Eventually they learn where their area is and stick to it.


It COULD work, but you're right it would take far more effort than people would be willing to give such a plan, sadly.

On a serious note, I think wolves would be alright. I like being at the top of the food chain though so no bears please.

Humans are apex predators.

I don't really care about attacks on humans.

If you don't want to run the low risk getting attacked, don't go to areas populated by said animals. We're not the only inhabitants of this land, and I don't think our peace of mind and "safety" trumps all other concerns.

Ironic though we should completely ignore the elephant in the room when talking about overpopulation here.

Although having said I can already picture the headlines "MONSTER BEAR MAULS CHILD TO DEATH!" and resulting public outcry and cull of the bears here.

Maybe not so sensible (for their sake, mainly) to reintroduce them into a land populated by people so prone to kneejerk reactions.

Pleasantly surprised by the results of this poll, I definitely thought I would be pretty much alone in wanting bears in addition to everything else.

Yeah, it seems the positives of doing so (wildlife tourism, controlling overpopulation etc.) would far outweigh the negatives (attacks on humans, issues with livestock etc.). Not many bears could populate the country anyway, given they generally require a large amount of land and food to sustain them, so numbers would be very low which should limit attacks on humans.

In addition to this bears could be carefully tracked and monitored within the country to further reduce the likelihood of attacks on humans.

Wild boar would be fantastic for hunting as well!
