Disappointing but rather Murray heading off than Ferrie, Savoury, Thomas or Fox at the moment.  Sad to see him go, but at 30 years old with significant injury history maybe it's best for all parties.  I think we're going to have to get used to this in the years to come as we aim for self-sustainability.

At least the club is getting money for him,it wasnt that long ago.players would just leave the club for other teams with no compensation or any other recompense. In the years past

Completely agree. Got 22-23 or so players now, so good cover and competition for places. And some players’ versatility will be a big bonus when injuries or suspensions happen later into the season.

Also, gives some of the young team a chance to get some first team experience without all the pressure of having to be dropped in at the deep end - hopefully.

Would like to see another keeper brought in only 2 keepers is tempting providence re injuries

More to the point, pre season game or not, our league winning side for two years in a row shouldn't be losing three goals to Rangers.😉

If you notice in the report no mention of who scored for us.well except for one which was scored by a player who had been released by Rangers, and no queens team listed. It would be nice if the club gave the results of all our teams on a weekly basis when the season gets underway

  4. Where and when we play is one thing, to me whose playing for us is a more important thing. OC keeps saying we need 3/4 more players in ,instead of being proactive and bringing people to the club the situation reminds me of when we were amateurs, and signing players who hadnt had offers from other  clubs and it was getting near the transfer deadline

Hopefully the Mcpake deal gets confirmed in time for the game on Tuesday.

I do wonder if Coyle might be looking at adding a strong defensive midfielder to the squad. Liam Brown and Patrick Jarrett are good footballers but don’t offer a lot of protection to the back four. Jack Thomson is obviously highly thought of (given the recent contract extensions) but I’m not sure if he is quite ready yet to fill that role in the Championship every week. We could use an alternative option at least.

Awhile back in this forum was mentioned Stephen Eze who played under OC at Shamshedpur who is a central defender, any more info or rumours

FFS I was at that game. Was during the miners' strike that the miners won, so not enough lecky about for floodlights. Had to dog school to go to it.

What was the score? I have a vague remembrance of a cup game, about that era, against some yooni team that the goalie scored from a kick-out.

1-0 for the spiders Ronnie Lowrie was sent off in 28minutes..FrankThomson went in goals and saved the resultant penalty

I like to think this builds upon the youth work the club has had in place for several decades now; and removes the temptation for our promising players to move on too early in their development, which happened all too often.

And ensure that the club would then be eligible for compensation, something that we lost out on in the past, when players moved

Gonna stop talking about who we're getting in the play offs. We're not even there yet and you are giving me the fear!

At least its not the relegation playoffs ,as in the past after we got promoted it was straight back the following season, with one exception when it was two

Well, an old man like me can only say what I have said. Perhaps when the President sends out his next letter to all you guys who are Members, he may well tell you, or maybe not. Certainly the transfer window was a lost chance to sign a goalscorer.

seems we did sign a goalscorer Scott Williamson, but they loaned him back to Cambuslang. So will he only appear for us in Glasgow Cup games ? Unlike the famous Kjartan  Finnboggason

How many goals has he scored for Stenhousemuir this season? As for him scoring below our level, we seem to be hoping a young man from Cambuslang Rangers, at least three levels below us, is going to score a lot of goals for us next year. Sorry about getting the facts wrong re Henderson guys but I am getting old.

Sol came from the same level as the Cambuslang boy is at now..He did no bad for us when it came to scoring goals

  11. The Blackburn Rovers website lists him in their U23s as a striker.

Ive been following the spiders since 1957/8 and when they have been promoted we havent managed to stay up for more than 2seasons,because the majority of the players who gained promotion departed for other clubs, hence no consolidation. The players  that came in last year are still there, and hopefully we should avoid the relegation playoff,i remember reading at the start of the season consolidation was the initial aim, as others have said come the end of the season we will have to look at the players we have especially those with ongoing injury problems,

That old chestnut, haven't heard that for such a long time!

When did the amateurs ever play at Kilbowie (New Kilbowie) when they plied their trade in the bottom league?

Played ES Clydebank in 1964 and 1965, then from 1966 to 1975 against Clydebank then 1981 last match against Clydebank 25 sep 1982
