More of these please, I enjoyed the Accies, Hearts and Aberdeen previews too. Have bookmarked your blog.
Cheers. Hoping to get them all done before Sat.0 -
Did a season preview for Saints. Might be shite but constructive criticism and all that is welcome.

Cheers for the response. You're right about Taylor in that it's probably more of a concentration thing. Is McInnes looking for another defender or is he done?
I think he's done good business so far and it's clear he's looking to address Aberdeen's problems last season. I didn't want to make too much of a judgement about them though because the league season hasn't started and, as I said, I've not seen much of them in Europe.
And god knows I'm not getting dragged into the Rangers, Sevco, Newco, Costco debate.0 -

Was getting a bit of a Dortmund feel from this strip. I like it.

3-2 to the Fifers. Cowdenbeath went two up before half time and deservedly so. EF players looked knackered or off the pace. Line up was a mish-mash of regulars and second choices, and some were used out of position. Players will be looking forward to a week off.
Comeback started in second half with the introduction of some the more regular midfield and attacking players. Kevin Smith made a big difference. He got the first with what looked like a deflection. Slattery got the second soon after. Smith then snatched the win with a beauty - bout 20 yards out and in a crossing position he smashed the ball past the keeper.
Not much to add in terms of performances. Like I said, a lot of players were tired or out of position.0 -
2-1 to the Fife. Page headed in from a corner and Shagger put us ahead from the spot. Thought Peterhead dominated the first 25 mins and it didn't look promising, especially after Brown put them ahead. Muir had a poor game. He let McAlister's free kick rebound to Brown and almost gifted McAlister a goal later on. Looks nervous sometimes and doesn't look comfortable handing crosses. Fifers settled after that and got back into it. Helped that they had two players go off with injuries before half-time. Wilkie had to be brought off for a knock off his own but Lamont stepped up in a more central role and picked up a deserved Man of the Match. Think he's been a brilliant signing so far. Peterhead got physical after EF's goals. Once McAlister picked up a knock they looked much less dangerous. Never really threatened after that.

Thought Duggan did brilliant when he came on. Austin struggled as the lone striker - Smith tends to drift to the left side - but thought it was an odd choice to start with him since he's not started a friendly. Lamont continues to look good. Think the midfield and defence are looking good overall. Just need Smith and Duggan to form a partnership up front and we'll be in a good place.

I'd go with:
Goodfellow
Mercer, Page, Kerr, Naysmith
Lamont, Robinson, Wallace, Slattery, Wilkie
Smith0 -
4-2 to Aberdeen. EF came from two down to equalise but Dons were comfortable apart from 20 mins in the second half. Shagger scored from the spot and an own goal. Not much to say. Wilkie definitely looking sharper. One concern would be Willie Muir's handling of corners. Looked very unsure and struggled in that regard.

Simple 2-0 win over Edinburgh City. Shagger and Kane got the goals. McManus is looking particularly sharp - although it's hard to judge against weaker opposition. Apart from that it was pretty dull stuff. I'm imagining that the strongest team he can put out against Dundee is:
Muir/Goodfellow
Mercer, Page, Kerr and Naysmith
Lamont, Robinson, Wallace/Slattery and Wilkie
Smith and Duggan

Sorry, not at the game, currently sitting in the airport waiting for my delayed flight!!!
What/who was/are/were the score/scorers today???
And why is nobody mentioning the fact that Stevie Campbell is on the team sheet, has Dubai fallen through???
Good for us if it has!!!
No, he's off. Got a thank you after the game. Shagger got two, Smith got one and can't remember who got the other.

Simple 4-0 win for the Fifers. Game never left first gear. Thought Lamont shone on the right side; got an eye for a clever pass and quick feet. Offers a threat on the right that EF didn't have last season. Robinson and Tony Wallace (I think) looked decent in the centre. Wallace is an absolute beast. Think he'll fit in the Campbell role in front of defence. Mutch didn't have a great game. Kane started at centre back alongside Naysmith and looked decent enough - not that he had much to do. Wilkie looked massively off the pace and not at his usual best. Smith had a great game and linked up well with Shagger when he came on.

Any concern about the relegation play-offs given your current form? Any pressure on the manager?

Just wondering how Julen got on for you guys? Best defender in L2 during his six months at East Fife. Wasn't sure how he'd handle the jump up the divisions.

Heard Muir had 'attitude problems'. Complained about training, travelling etc.
Not a terrible loss. Never looked convincing and didn't trust him handling crosses. I like what little I've seen of Hurst. Looks confident and I'd imagine he'll push Goodfellow for the starting berth.
