    So to break that down further for dumbo

    I will need to pay the train Dusseldorf to Dortmund and Dusseldorf to Leverkusen yay or nay?

    Your Leverkusen match tickets will cover you for travel in the VRS transport region, which is centred on Cologne and Bonn.. However, Dusseldorf (and Dortmund) are in the VRR transport region.

    To get round the above, you'll need to buy a ticket from Dusseldorf to Langenfeld (which is on the border between the VRS and VRR) and your Leverkusen match ticket will cover you from there. You can also board a train that doesn't stop at Langenfeld doing the above as long as it isn't an Inter city Express (ICE); if I remember right the S Bahn trains stop at Langenfeld (and a million other stops) whilst the regional trains pretty much go straight from Dusseldorf to Leverkusen Mitte. The ground is a pleasant 15 min walk from Mitte station through the town park.

    Thought about taking in an Orlando City game (provided they're at home obviously) whilst you're there?

    Went to see them play New England Revolution when we were there last year. The quality of the game was utterly shocking as was a big can of Budweiser costing $11, but it was a great experience. Hilarious watching all the local fans jumping up waving their yellow and red cards at every little bit contact or foul!

    The Citrus Bowl is maybe 30 minutes away from Disney but easy enough to get to.

    We went a few weeks back via when they played Houston and I completely agree about the quality; I've never seen two teams lack urgency like that, and I'm not sure the heat was solely the culprit. I loved the atmosphere outside with DJs, bands etc though and the beer was a bit cheaper out there - $8 for a 16 fl oz can of Heineken.

    It will be a bit harder to get tickets from next year when they move closer to downtown but parking etc will be far easier. The area the Citrus Bowl is in (Parramore) is not a place for tourists to be walking about in, hence the current bus shuttle for a half mile journey to and from downtown.

    I am booked up to go in October 2017 to Saratoga Springs resort. Not long to wait now then.

    Any and all information would be much appreciated.

    We're just back from our 2nd stay at Saratoga. The accommodation is excellent, but you're best paying the extra for the villa over the studio (the latter is bit cramped).

    It's a huge resort with the Grandstand area being our favourite, due to it having a quiet pool and being a short walk from both the Carriage House and Disney Springs; it's the first bus stop too. If you're staying with Disney, make sure you get the Dining plan; you'll save a fortune, especially if you have kids that are interested in character dining; I can give you tips on the best Disney restaurants too if that would be helpful.

    That was our fourth time staying in Disney and the first we've taken a car, as we'd pretty much exhausted the Disney parks and wanted to explore a bit. However, you can easily survive without a car and just rely on Disney's transport including the Magical Express from the airport. There's also a Lynx bus from Disney Springs that will take you to the Seaworld parks on I Drive, where you can change for buses to Universal and Florida Mall.

  5. But in other news I was shocked to see Townhead in deepest, darkest Coatbridge bedecked in Union flags and Rangers tops. Living down south I have completely withdrawn from the Orange Walk calendar and as such I needed reminding of the time of the year.

    You sure it wasn't Gartsherrie rather than Townhead? The Gartsherrie Bowling Club has always been quite sympathetic to those who wear sashes.

  6. Booked up for Istanbul late September this year and looking to get a game in. Anyone got any experience of taking a game in over there? Any feedback would be great fully accepted.

    Yeah, I've been to Kasimpasa, which is the most central of the Istanbul clubs being just 10 mins from Taksim Sq. Tickets go up on Biletix about 3 weeks before the games and you collect them on the day.

    The cheapest seats are for the Kapali Tribune behind the North goal. This is where the ultras go, but there's only about 200 of them and five times that in terms of seats, so you'll not get any hassles. Anybody we spoke to was perfectly friendly as well; they seem used to tourists coming along as they're so easy to get tickets for. The only time they ever sell out is for matches against the three big Istanbul clubs.

    Istanbul is a fantastic city. I'd go back there in a heartbeat.

  7. Broughty Ferry. Will be playing Monifieth. Waiting for the mortgage paperwork to go through.

    You ditch the Perth idea then? Will hopefully catch up with you when you're back up; visits to the Angus clubs mean I'm in Dundee quite a bit.

  8. It does seem like a bit of an amateur mistake to be honest.

    It's hard to see what action an employer could take though without leaving themselves wide-open to complain/legal action. They really need hard-and-fast proof and that's hard to get when you're dealing with someone's personal life.

    I actually speak with some experience here as my wife was summarily dismissed in November for having gone sick on a day that she had been unable to secure leave for. Thing is, she was genuinely ill and had actually been hospitalised on the day in question, and was then medically certified by her GP on leaving hospital. Cue reinstatement, disciplinary action against the mangers concerned, and grovelling apologies all round when the various pieces of medical paperwork were presented.

  9. I got:

    • Lots of socks, but then I suppose I am nowadays considered 'a man of a certain age';
    • Slippers - see age comment immediately above;
    • Watch;
    • Guinness glass and coaster (but no Guinness!);
    • Guinness mug
    • Toffees and jelly beans;
    • Inbetweeners and Broons annuals;
    • Drink money (£20)

    Still, the kids got fucking ridiculous amounts of stuff, and Christmas is, after all, more about them :D

  10. I'm 36 and just got my first car which is a 1.6 Focus and my insurance is £800 for the year. Don't think it matters how old you are they are always going to screw you the first year until they find out if you can drive or not.

    £800 is miles better than what the young kids are being quoted and reflects the relative risk. Indeed, were I to lose my no-claims bonus, I'd be paying about £800 too (I'm also in my late 30s).

  11. So after thinking I got the all clear, I'm back into the clinic on wednesday to check for Pancreatic cancer. Personally I think it will be something like Pancreatitis because of my lifestyle, but I'm bloody shitting it again. Basically if I get that, I have no chance of surviving.

    I was going to have a moan about having tonsilitis and not being able to sleep, but that pales into insignificance by several million degrees compared to what is above.

    I sincerely hope it's good news for you on Wednesday; for a young man to be going through what you are really doesn't bear thinking about.
