    Places In Scotland With No Team

    In light of Brora Rangers just missing out on the national leagues, that got me thinking about places/areas of at least a sustainable size in Scotland with no senior or even junior team. Brora is town of only about 1,800 and it's not the only place of that type of size with a Highland League side - Rothes is even smaller with only about 1,200. Despite this though, Aviemore is about the size of the two towns combined yet it doesn't have a team at all. Strangely up until the 1980s it did have an ice hockey team who were at one point the British champions! Presumably though, they and the likes of Kingussie, Newtonmore etc. are covered by Strathspey Thistle and in the case of the latter places, are more shinty places. Skye and the Western Isles (where both ICT and Partick have had pre-season tours) would probably be in the same boat.

    What about Oban? Couldn't it sustain a team in the Highland League or even in Division Three? It does have some tournament there so there must be some degree of interest.

    Surely there must be others?
