    Robbed of a 4th.

    This is not offside

WTF & how has Steven McLean drawn these lines?

To be fair to VAR, it does look like Miovski is off by a nose. It initially looks onside as you look at the Motherwell players arm being further forward but that doesn’t count as it’s only body parts you can legally score with that are relevant- basically, arms below the shirt line can’t be considered and the lines are drawn properly from his hip. So, his nose does look offside to me!

    1986, blah blah blah.

This debate is so tedious. Please stop.

Celtic didn't win the league, Hearts lost it. St Mirren had nothing to do with the outcome, Hearts f*cked it up.

Thump Clydebank and the title is as good as won by Hearts because goal difference would have been huge and surely insurmountable. Draw with Dundee, the title is won by Hearts. St Mirren can't affect these outcomes. Blaming St Mirren for Hearts failure to win the league is just pathetic and embarrassing, pure deflection from their own failure.

It's time for Hearts fans to accept it - your team blew it when it was within your own hands. But then, that would take balls so it won't ever happen.

You should have stopped after the first two paragraphs. The rest is contradictory to a good initial point. Let it go.

Anyway, on to 2023. Can’t believe Halliday is out with concussion now. That’s 3 players now out with concussion today (really hoped Kingsley would be back today), not to mention the 3 ACL injuries and a double leg break. Genuinely, I can’t remember any club having so many first pick players out at once due to injuries.

Definitely will be happy with a point and no more injuries. We need to attack as that’s where we are still strong. Hopefully a good game.

  3. I’ve been very impressed with St Mirren this season - should finish in top 6 for sure. Two tough matches for Hearts particularly given we are definitely missing Gordon, Halkett, Beningame and Boyce and possibly Kingsley, Smith and Halliday. Lots of guaranteed starters there. I would be delighted with 4 points just to keep things ticking over until the injuries ease or/and we get some reinforcements in. I wouldn’t be overly surprised if we lose in Paisley.

I think you will find it isn't just United supporters but also folks that are conversant with the rules of the game.

Look up 12.1 and you will find the words reckless, careless, excessive force.  What you won't find is anywhere that states that these rules only apply if the player doesn't play the ball.

Best wishes to Craig Gordon and hopefully he makes a full recovery.

If you think that 12.1 is in play then both Gordon and Fletcher should have been sent off then as both used excessive force? Then a free kick to Hearts as our player actually played the ball? It’s not Gordon’s responsibility to pull out the challenge anymore than it’s Fletchers. Both went for it 100% and only had eyes on the ball.

It was simply, in my opinion, a really unfortunate accident. No intent or excessive force by either player. How the ref initially rushed to give that  as a penalty is actually a disgrace. He should have immediately been checking on the welfare of the two players involved, not rushing to the penalty spot. Absolute clown - anyone could see that was potentially career ending. Checking the players were okay as an absolute first priority,  then no cards for either player and free kick to Hearts was the only right sequence of events. The refs performance was laughably bad throughout.

What a horrible injury to happen at anytime, let alone the day before Christmas to a guy with young kids. Hope Craig gets home to see his kids on Christmas morning and he makes a quick and full recovery.

  5. Mixed emotions - I was really worried about the defence with Souttar and Halkett missing and we know derbys are a lottery, whatever the form, so would have probably been happy with a draw beforehand. Particularly with a 12 point lead over Hibs in the bank.

However, Hearts were slightly the better team (of two very poor footballing teams on the day) and Craig Gordon had nothing to do whereas the Hibs keeper was man of the match. Obviously, two stonewall penalties as well. A win was achievable so slightly frustrated.

I thought the standard of play was really poor from both teams. Nobody in either team showed any composure and it was just punt and run all over the place. I think Hibs showed lots of impressive fight and aggression and I understand why they are taking positives from that perspective. Good intensity from both teams which made it a decent watch despite very few phases of good passing. Typical derby. An away draw to another top 6 team is never a disaster.

As an aside, Partick Thistle showed how it was done last night. Teams and fans celebrating a return to where they thought they should be. No petted lip, no embarrassing trophy lift, no crybabies on social media. Just understanding that winning the league was actually the biggest GIRUY to the SPFL.

Agreed about Partick Thistle doing things right -  banning all SPFL and SFA officials from the ground for their trophy presentation is the right thing to do. Hearts were far too decent about it! 😀

  8. Hearts were really good today. I imagine we won’t be as good next week or as fired up as it’s not trophy day, like today was. We are hard to score against now especially with Souttar back and Halkett actually playing well. I think that’s 4 clean sheets in a row. Boyce, Gnando and MacKay-Steven also looked a handful today and linked really well. Should be a good open game as Raith need to go for the win - Hearts are so inconsistent that it’s impossible to know what to expect. I also wouldn’t be surprised if we played a couple of kids next week - we put a 16 year old on today albeit not for long. No idea what team Neilson will select or what version of Hearts will turn up. 🤷‍♂️

Don’t worry too much - if you score first then you’ll get no less than a point. Hearts only seem to win or even play well when they score first. Hearts also usually start ridiculously slowly - I can almost guarantee you’ll have a glorious chance to score within the first few minutes. If you take it, unlike Morton did, then you can sit back and light a cigar. There is absolutely no way Hearts will lie down though - it Inverness win, it will be because you earned it. Hope it’s a good game.

Inverness have a glorious chance within a minute. Every game!

Nah, just a grown up with a full-time day job, 2 kids and a football coaching job most nights. Just don’t spend much time on the interweb. Genuinely never seen that image in my life but thanks for educating me, I think! 😀 👍

Your head’s gone mate!  What phrase did you google to find that image? 😂

Anyway, c’mon Hearts! Let’s finish with two good performances and then rebuild the squad. A chance for some players to show they actually offer something- I am looking at you Gary McKay-Steven! Hopefully, with the pressure off, and two decent playing surfaces to finish on, their are no excuses. Hoping for the best but expecting to finish this farce of a season with two 0-0’s. Hey ho!

At the time of announcing it, it was thought that this was the game that Hearts would secure the title. However, Raith and Dundee both drew at home last weekend and that was that. I suppose the game is still of interest to Morton though so not totally without meaning. Can’t see Hearts being up for this at all. Probably a 0-0 for the cameras. 🙂

This guy knows what he’s talking about! 😁

So predictable - anyway, we’ll thankfully have half a new team next season. The sooner this season is over the better.

    Good fighting performance by Morton.

Did Gary MacKay-Steven actually touch the ball when he came on tonight - again! Been really poor every game since we’ve signed him.

You will have no complaints missing 8 games last season then.

Bang on mate! We’d have no complaints at all if we were told at the start of last season we were playing a 30 game season. However, that was a 38 game season that was never completed. This is a 27 game season that will be completed.  Do you see the difference now? Anyway, good fishing! 😀

Congratulations to all at the mighty Heart of Midlothian. It’s not been pretty at times but the job has been completed. Been impressed with all the teams in the Championship to some degree. Even Alloa at the bottom play some really good stuff. A better league than the big time Charlie’s in the Premiership would ever admit. Hopefully another Championship team will come up with us as most, if not all, would add as much as the likes of Ross County or Hamilton. Good luck to whichever team makes the playoff final. 👍

You don't think Neilson might want to make the league win look convincing?

I think Hearts will try to win every match. However, players can sub-consciously relax when the league is won so no doubt it’s better for Raith that it will likely be a meaningless match for Hearts. In saying that, with it being live on TV, it maybe gives the players some incentive to turn up. One thing for sure is that this Hearts team isn’t good enough to not give 100% and beat anyone in this league.
