No thanks. Kilwinning can keep him, junior management is his level

Killie were dire last night but I reckon you’ll “easily” beat County. 2-0

Look at it from his point of view, he would no doubt prefer not to burn all his bridges, everyone does similar rather than hurt people's feelings, it's unfortunate that our best manager since I was a lad has seemingly left some I'll feeling behind.
I'm more disappointed in Britton and Co, leaking it in the manner they did to deflect away from their dismal performance on Saturday is a bit shite and very unprofessional.
It just makes me wonder if he was 100% focused on us whilst Caldwell was combusting. Was he casting an eye Firhill way and hoping they’d need a new manager imminently?
I agree on your second point. The fact the Daily Record and Raman from STV we’re tweeting about his appointment before both clubs did left a bad taste

He was with you for five years fs! What more do you want? He wasn’t going to stay at AU forever constantly losing his best players and having his budget reduced. Five years is a good return for the chance you gave him.

I'm just hoping his new found ambition isn't the 1st signs of his demons returning, can't ever take them for granted.
Good post, a crown of thorns and a good flogging won't be enough for some.
Of course I wasn’t expecting him to stay forever. In regards to the loyalty thing it was more about how he went about it. Someone on another thread said McCall knew he was leaving last Tue, yet a few days later he was saying he was torn over the situation. Bullshit like that grates

What grates me is nobody wanted to touch McCall with a barge pole and we gave him a chance and a way back into football after so long in the wilderness. Loyalty is long gone in football as we all know but I expected more from him. Wonder what kind of reception he’ll get at Somerset on the 2nd

Can’t see anything but an all Glasgow final.
Hibs looked abysmal last night and Hearts aren’t much better
any idea what game is likely to be on the Sunday?

It’s beginning to annoy me the way McCall has went about things. It wouldn’t have suprised me if him and that twat Colin Weir were in cahoots about what would happen when Caldwell was ousted. It definitely sounds like he was keeping his options open and now hoping it would all go tits up at Thistle so he could return and be given a war chest by Weir. Hope the plan backfires for them and they do a Falkirk

Heard from a decent source today that Tommy Sloan is applying for the Ayr job. Undoubtedly a very good manager, speaking to a committee member at another junior club, he said he is the most prepared, analytical coach you'll ever meet.
Still a massive gamble but if you were going to get a manager from the juniors, you'd want undoubtedly want the best (ever) one.*
*this is in no way an endorsement of Tommy Sloans appointment as manager of Ayr United Football Club now or at any time in the future.
Can’t see it tbh, Tucker has a decent job away from football as a foreman I’m sure and is quite happy combining that with managing a junior powerhouse

FS if Chris Strain gets the job I’ll go on a self imposed sabbatical from Somerset. If a mediocre junior manager is our level then heaven help us

Can't see the farmer playing for any other full time club other than possibly QoS ... His business comes first ....
With Stranraer struggling so far this season and his farm being about 10 mins away I could see him playing for them...even though their fans “hate” him currently

I’d be very shocked if Thistle got Kelly in Jan. Rangers loaned him to us for the season, he’s playing every week and scoring often so it doesn’t benefit Rangers any to recall him then punt him to a team in the same division

Ffs just realised we're going to have to put up with a month of this drivel potentially.
A month of “who shot JR” type shenanigans only for the board to announce Stewart has it on a full time basis.

He’ll undoubtedly want Harvie, McCowan and Forrest. Wouldn’t be surprised about Moffat or if he tried to get Kelly and Doohan in January either (assuming loan deals need formally extended)
I thought Kelly and Doohan were on season long loans
as others have said he can gladly have Doolan, as his heart is clearly still there and not with us

Wouldn’t be suprised if McCall tried to get Harvie and McCowan in Jan. Plus I’d be shocked if he didn’t go for Doolan

It was a long time since McCall was a manager when he was appointed, and he worked out okay. He was completely out the game in fact.
That’s true. McCall had numerous managerial job so before that though. Stewart has only managed one club who aren’t on the same level as we are

Did you read the questions? Eye bleeding stuff. Although as I say, I think he is daft for getting into a q&a session in that format anyway. Adds absolutely no value really as the few good questions and answers are lost in a sea of dross.
Main points I took were that Sandy Stewart is choosing the new coach, that the compensation we got for McCall will go to the playing budget and (reading between the lines) that if Stewart does well in the 3 games he has and also wants the job then there's a decent chance he would get it.
Appointing Stewart permanently would be lazy. He works well as a coach or number 2 and I’d want him to stay on in that capacity but it’s been a long time since he was a manager

He's a good coach but that doesn't automatically make you a good manager. There is a reason he hasn't been a manager since 2006.
We should be going all out for Dick Campbell.
I was agreeing wholeheartedly with your post until you mentioned Dick Campbell...

He’s not far off the truth. The training facilities aren’t the best and make us look a bit tinpot. Very little has been done to Somerset over the years and there’s been dead birds in the netting in the stand for months and months now, even silly things like the pie shop not having a vegetarian option shows we don’t want to move with the times

I really don't see his replies as making him come accross as a bellend at all. To be honest if I was him there's not a chance i'd be wasting my time sitting answering some of that pish.
Telling a fan they have no idea what they’re talking about etc, and that questions are too “convoluted” just smacks of twat IMO

Looking at the chat with Cameron on TSE just now and he really does come across as a right bellend

Utter nonsense , he is miles ahead of that mob both in man management and coaching ability , one of the best coaches we have had for a long long time
As a coach yes, but as a manager? It’s a no from me
if he gets the role on a full time basis then I hope he proves me wrong

It seems as if you’ve had horrendous luck with injuries so far, it’s a shame as you had a good squad of players on paper. Really thought you’d easily avoid a relegation struggle this season but with each passing week and dire result it’s looking unlikely.

Anybody else think BT Sports may pick up our game v Partick in Nov to show live?

Can’t believe can’t believe how many folk seem to want Sandy Stewart as permanent manager. Fs that’s an appointment worthy of the Shanks/Watt/Roberts era

BBC Scotland shot their load and went for Dundee v Morton that weekend. Unless BT Sport pick it up but I doubt it.
