I would suggest signing a player to play a position where you don't really have cover is less strange than signing for one where you do.

Especially when the player concerned is as good as van Veen.

So by that logic, if you got the option to sign Kyogo tomorrow, you’d turn him down and go for Chris Kane instead because you’ve already got Miovski. Righty-o.

Matty Kennedy was terrible, first six months aside. Good for him if he's gone on to play well at Killie.

Watkins was very good at Aberdeen but far too injury prone and wasn't as good as Bojan or Duk.

KVV turned up looking fat for a start and played in a position where you already had cover. Was a strange signing at the time but it's one to expect from Derek.

A very good manager but he does make plenty of odd signings.

You seem to be the only person that thinks all of these signings are odd. Maybe those expectations are the reason your club has been in the absolute mud for the past few seasons.

Kennedy is a very good player at this level, came through the youth system at this club, and was free - fail to see how that’s odd.

Watkins was a low risk gamble that paid off massively. His wages were cheap, and McInnes knew exactly what to expect from him - fail to see how that’s odd.

KVV was the top scorer in the country last season, and was available to provide cover incase Vassel had to bite the bullet and get the op for the injury he played through for the entire season - fail to see how that’s odd.

You also said Anderson doesn’t do the things DM wants to do, but from reports, he’s a pest that will run and hassle defenders all day, links well with others, and can get around 10 goals a season. Sounds exactly like a DM killie striker.

That's why Dhanda has been at Ross County for two years.

Yip. Have to admit, found it a bit embarrassing the amount of people treating him as though he’s Xavi on this thread - rather than what he actually is: a decent enough Premiership player.

Also found it weird how many people have written Rovers off as soon as it went to 2-0. Do not underestimate how utterly pish County are.

  4. A few days late to the party here, but I really wanted to saunter on here and be a right cocky dick - but in fairness, most of the saints fans have been pretty sound about it, so I won’t bother.

Absolutely love this team, as we just never give up. Truly terrible first half, but one of the best second half’s I’ve ever seen.

Hope St Mirren finish 5th and get a wee euro jaunt as well. Good lads imo.

  5. I’d assume these charts are useful when it comes to deciding if a player will be suitable for a certain specific role in their position, rather than just assessing if they are ‘good or bad’.

    For example:

I need a centre back who is physically dominant in the air, and wins loads of headers. Will Joe Wright fit this mould? According to the data - yes.

Does that mean that Joe Wright is a great centre back? No.

Not a diss on him, as I like him

What's up with the security being total cocks today? A guy thrown out for a smoke bomb, after the Rangers away end at Dens earlier in the season looked like fucking Hiroshima.

Young team getting pestered constantly about where they were putting their flags pre match.

Half time they're downstairs throwing folk out and doing constant checks in loos etc.

Do they just no like the Killie?

Dundee stewards are always like that

😂😂😂😂 Proletariat. Someone thinks they've read some Marx and thinks they're clever 😂😂😂

Possibly because cinema screenings aren't broadcast to the world. And last time I checked the cinema is generally dark and quiet - two prerequisites for successful communication of whatever your political statement is 🤦‍♂️😂

Oh my word. I didn't realize this was the student politics part of P&B. What a load of rot. The odd political statement by small groups of fans does not make football a raging hotbed of a political arena. Your team lost and is in a doom-loop. Deal with it and get over yourselves 😂😂😂

I’m a Kilmarnock fan you thick fucking c**t.

Would you be happy if you went to watch a film at a cinema and somebody held up a banner before the start about some political point. The vast majority of folk going "to the match" are going for the football, just as folk going to the cinema are going to watch a film.

Have you ever considered that the reason why more people hold political protests at football matches, rather than cinema screenings, is because football is inherently rooted in politics?

Quite a wild concept to understand, I know.

Where should the proletariat carry out their political activism, then? Public events that gather widespread attention have always been used for political activism and will always be used in that way. A cinema with 20-100 people to watch a film will draw much less attention than a match where thousands attend and is broadcast more widely online or via TV. It's perfectly logical that a cinema screening is much less likely to be used for political activism than a top division football match.

I personally just go for the football but if it's a cause I believed in strongly enough I'd have no issue with it being in a stadium.

    Spot on.

Away you go, why wouldn’t you stick to football at a game of football ?

Because there’s absolutely nothing apolitical about football, or any aspect of life in general.

If you don’t want to engage with it, fine, but if you honestly believe that ‘politics should be kept away from football’, then you are burying your head in the sand.

Hmmm. That’s a serious 20/20 hindsight take that mate.

There were plenty of Killie fans that were raging we took Brophy.

Just because you got the last laugh doesn’t make you Nostradamus.

Nah man, I don’t really think it is - and I’m actually not trying to be argumentative here. I remember plenty of killie fans (myself included) saying it was mental at the time.

Brophy was decent enough - but out of that Clarke-era squad, he’s the one player that I think most fans knew was replaceable.

Anyway, it was said slightly in jest. Best of luck for the season, I hope you pip the big city clubs into the top 6. Just don’t get any ideas about finishing above us.

So why is everyone saying your front two will be Stewart and Watkins?

I don’t think it will necessarily be that. We basically only have two strikers though, and Vassell has been struggling with an injury since the start of the season.

It’s another option, that we can use to allow guys like Vassell and Watkins to rest when needed.

Derek is about the only manager who didn't get a tune out of him in Scotland.

    Strange signing IMO.

I don’t think it is strange at all. At Aberdeen, he played in a system that never really suited, but by all accounts he still played well - just never got the numbers.

We need a striker, and he will play as one, so I think he will do very well.
