  1. I was pretty disappointed at half time that we hadn't created a great deal, as we had absolutely dominated the ball - up there with the most assured we've looked in terms of controlling a game.  Felt like it was one of those games where we would regret not taking advantage of being on top of things, which is how it felt at 1-0.

The attitude of the team is fantastic though.  Even going behind hasn't got that same tired resignation of old. Says a lot that I don't think anyone left early at 1-0 with a few mins to go - a while since I've seen that at a Rovers game.

Vaughan was absolutely fantastic yesterday - especially in that 2nd half.

Weirdly, despite the lateness of the win, the first half was the biggest gulf I've seen between sides this season.  Other than Wotherspoon, Inverness are extremely ordinary - and that goal isn't conceded with anywhere near a first choice back line.  Tough one for Corr, there certainly is a player in there - I'm enthused by the potential there.  He was largely fine other than that.  O'Reilly looks like a decent find too.

  2. I've no problem with the pyro personally, but the issue I have is the impact on experience for others.  Not everyone is that arsed by atmosphere, some people just want to go along and watch the game with their family/mates -  and that's 2 consecutive derbies where flares have been thrown into the "general" support, and hit people.  That's just shit, and to be honest, even before that there have been occasions where bits of pies, plastic juice bottles etc have been thrown off other fans.  Granted, its not a horrific life threatening experience, but its not particularly pleasant either for people that just want to watch the football - and some people may feel intimidated by it.  And whilst I'm sure nobody has been killed by pyro at football games, at Ibrox last season for example, it wasn't nice to que for a pie in a crowded and cramped concourse when someone lets one of these things off.

It's pretty clear that the police don't give a shit though - It's happened directly in front of them, and they don't care.  If they wanted to sort it or do something about it, they would.  Which does beg the question why we need police presence in the South Stand for certain games?  I get the impact outside the ground etc - but if things that are technically illegal at a ground are happing directly in front of them, and they aren't arsed, is there much point of them being there?  And there is only so much that a steward will be able/capable of doing - so I do feel some sympathy for the club.

Bit of a conundrum for the club though - they had an area of the ground dedicated for younger fans to make an atmosphere, and for whatever reason, it was a pretty resounding failure.  Taking legalities etc out of the equation, you'd want an environment where people can enjoy the game as they see fit - If that involves letting of flares etc, that's totally fine with me in an "ultras" section or similar - but that ship appears to have sailed for this season.

  3. This team are routinely proving me wrong and making a mockery of my generally cynical nature, braw.

Massive amount of credit to Murray.  I didn't think for one second we would be let down or anything last night, but really thought that the injury and suspension situation was just that one game too far.  Very wrong, that was a fucking hiding.

Hamilton being back is massive.  A genuine striker and a genuine physical presence and focal point.

However, as always with me, Scott Brown is the pick of the bunch.  I've said it too many times, but what the f**k was he doing playing in League 1?  Pound for pound, that's one of the best signings we've made in years.

20-21 was the best year this decade and even then ended up being won by the recently relegated side (regular occurrence that, parachute payment needs cut IMO).  If country come down they’ll spend like f**k just like last time. Livi for Dundee United no other movement is what everyone should want if they can’t go up themselves

Aye, we had a massive opportunity that year - felt at the time that was the chance.

  5. I'm sure Arbroath have improved from last season, but the overall league has too.  There aren't teams like Cove and Hamilton who were decent shouts for relegation from the off.

It's a very tight league, and will be for the rest of the season, but I'm not sure you could look at the squads in this league and pick out anyone who Arbroath should finish ahead of other than perhaps Morton.

  6. Could have done without an extra derby ahead of the run of league matches coming up, to be honest.

The 3 games so far could have went either way, and Dunfermline will probably be due a win.

Obviously want to win and get through to the next round, but feel this is the least important of all the games this side of Xmas.

We've had numerous people using the relatively high crowd to somehow justify the Raith ticket price policy.

The home crowds are higher this season because you're playing well and are currently high up the table.

That's kind of my point, to be honest.  Someone hinted that the derby crowd should have been higher than it was, but ultimately prices don't make that much of a difference.  Its what happens on the pitch that determines if people go or not.

The crowd was high because it was 1st v 2nd and Raith are flying high. If you were 7th and stinking the league out the home crowd would've been halved and most of you would be criticising your club for its poor pricing policy.

Pricing wouldn't have made it much higher though.  We've had well priced games to watch shite teams, in front of poor crowds.

Can't say I agree with that first part at all, football clubs are aware of the emotional attachment fans have, and it often seems to be the case that they'll overcharge for a product knowing fine well fans will stump up out of loyalty/idiocoy. The league cup final for example will sell out, but the ticket prices are a Sham.

Grumbling about it got the Dundee Utd prices lowered, and while the attendance was high for the Fife Derby, it could, and should have been higher.

I don't think the prices would have changed the gate much at all for the derby, Dunfermline already brought a bigger support than anticipated - a few quid wouldn't have fundamentally changed that.  Only thing that would have, would have been if Dunfermline were higher up the table.

I do think it's getting pretty damn expensive to pay at the gate these days, and I'm personally not a fan of tiered pricing (whilst I totally get the commercials behind it) but it's the product on the pitch that matters and will determine the crowd.  The Dundee Utd game was the most expensive game to pay at the gate that I can remember at Starks Park, but the highest gate for years.
