  1. Technically the original Clydebank FC are now Airdrie but it depends how pedantic you want to be in considering whether or not its the same club.

Lots of technicalities. But if that argument flies, then Airdrieonians can’t exist, as they died, resurrected under a different name, then went through gender realignment and became their old self again. Don’t even get started on The Rangers.
  2. "As a club, the East of Scotland League doesn’t give us anything we don’t have other than a season long fixture list, a fixture list that has still been left with clubs playing twice and three times a week and the two title contenders facing each other in head to head fixtures.":unsure2:
Progression through the pyramid requires SFA Licensing and to achieve entry at the base level whilst not a lot for some clubs, would entail a decent amount of financial investment that we just can’t afford.
Aye right enough, meanwhile we will keep playing at a  park that hasnt any cover for supporters

The great thing about this is it smacks down the SJFA proposal to move all clubs into the pyramid. What is the benefit to Carnoustie? None. Why should they be moved? No reason. Would they be able to be promoted, even if they won their league? No.

The pyramid should be left to clubs either licensed or on their way to being licensed?
  3. The SFA's RESPONSE to TJ's pyramid letter (which he announced he would be sending  after he met with junior clubs), is essential to verify what he is claiming. Let's see if  he will produce and circulate  it.  Otherwise this is nothing more than (verbal) smoke and mirrors.

Have any applicant clubs contacted the SFA directly about this? Might be worth contacting the CEO directly so he can confirm either way. If he has agreed to what TJ says, surely this is important to know ASAP this week?
  4. *   First the GOOD NEWS (for some):
The SJFA questionnaire has confirmed that the majority, but certainly not all Junior clubs want to join the "current pyramid"
A substantial minority of other Junior clubs want to remain with the SJFA
The SFA is not seeking to 'close down' the SJFA
The extensive range of SFA financial and other benefits available to its Member clubs (see earlier post, not from me), will be extended to Junior clubs as/when they join the Pyramid.
    *   Now the NOT SO GOOD NEWS (for some):
The SFA will not allow a second Tier 5 feeder league for West clubs, now or next season
The SFA does however want a  West league asap, which could by adopting the West Super League en bloc as the 'senior feeder to the SLL, at Tier 6
The SFA will never accept two Tier 6 leagues in the East. To do so would be insane
The SFA has no intention of 'demoting' the EoSL, and its existing member clubs would reject it
Some East Junior clubs will be elected to the EoSL for next season (numbers still speculative).
       * Now the BAD NEWS (for some )
The SFA will not licence Junior clubs who decide to remain in the Junior Leagues
The SFA will need to give SoSL clubs the chance to join a new West feeder league, but applications are unlikely from any clubs (except Threave  ?) before realigning the SoSL at Tier 7
The SFA will not agree to play-offs between 'senior' and 'junior' clubs for promotion to the SLL (nor to the HFL).
    >>>>>>>
5 days to go until the EoSL & SoSL deadline for new clubs, closes.  Arguments will no doubt continue ,  but  will these make much if any, difference to the eventual outcome for 2018/19 ? We are where we are, and there is no perfect solution for all interested parties.
NB : The above are my personal views.

The short summary of this is “chaos”.

You cannot be an SJFA Club in an SFA pyramid - one or the other.

If this progresses the SJFA should fold and let one national pyramid be set up and administered by the SFA. Easiest way.
  5. But there are small clubs from small towns at a high level - there is no incentive to invest in a Junior side as there is no prospect of the investment being recouped because of the almost total lack of prize money (without qualification for the Scottish Cup).  Who knows who is out there and would be willing to put money into a side but can see zero point doing it at Junior level? Why? Because it's a complete lottery whether or not anything other than the result will make national press. People can mock Brechin, Alloa, Dumbarton etc but these are clubs with much higher profile than any Junior team, with much bigger budgets and with better long-term prospects.

    Back of the net!
  6. How would that work with promotion into the lowland league, surely im not the only one who sees a three way playoff as damaging to the integrity of it?

There surely needs to be a rethink of the Lowland League relegation numbers. I understood it that only 1 is relegated from a league of 16. That needs to change.
