The only person mental enough to play me in an EoS team at 16 😂

Good guy, proper old school so there will be none of this passing across the back line shite!

He gave many a 16 year old a game at Kelso, his laddie included who wasn't very good.

Ben Herdman probably one of the better ones along with Jack Logan. Borders clubs aren't blessed with good players and Duns still have the best facilities yet play amateur football.

    Who's Prof Blaikie ?

Cryptic and random stuff on a public forum.

Ex Kelso manager. Previously had a spell at Coldstream along with loads of amateur sides in the borders. Greenlaw.

Gone are the days of appointing forward thinking coaches like Jonny Fairbairn. Who was on an absolute wedge at the club.

Coldstream only interested in their coffee mornings and nights oot in the pivvy.

  3. Manager asked to resign he duly obliges 6 points off the promotion places. Sold their best player... And 5 players leave with him too.

Seems like their committee are more committed to other things than the product on the park.

Hearing murmurs another coach has also just left who was key to their licensing.

Didn't the pitch used to have drainage issues? A 4G would deal with that too.

The current 3G pitch not in the enclosure is well over the year 10 years advised replacement... Infact i'd go as far as saying it's a no G pitch now! Edinburgh Leisure just don't care.

  5. In regards to Edinburgh South, I believe the pitch that was previously Tynecastle & Tollcross Thistle would be their only suitable option. I think they'd maybe get the same permissions as Coldstream/Peebles and throw a perimeter fence around the public park and somehow get funding for floodlights. You could argue with Sport-Scotland funding the play-park area to the left of the changing rooms could also be made into a 5 a side football park and a new park placed there to accommodate what would be taken away.

In essence that does sound like a good idea and probably one that they would have looked at before?

Gow scored probably within 30 seconds of the game kicking off, then I thought Annbank controlled most of the 1st half and were the better team, knocked the ball around well and looked good for the win.

2nd half the Gow stepped up the tempo, chased every ball and just wanted the win more. If it went to ET I think they would have won it, nevertheless pens it was and their keeper made a couple of good saves to win the game.

They where very good on Tuesday night aswell, although do believe they grabbed a couple boys from their 'junior' side for the game? I could be wrong.

7-0 win, with 5 of those probably avoidable due to some woeful goalkeeping.

My boys team just said it’s going up to £35 a month for 2. 50 mins sessions and fees for Saturday and Sunday leagues but has now said the £35 is for coaching only and each team has to raise its own league fees etc

    What area is this in?

Most of if not all the teams i'm involved with pay £35 per month, this covers 2 1hr30min sessions a week and a game on Saturday. We pay the 'first-team' £400 pcm but due to other teams not being able to pay 'apparently' all fees to be paid into a club account rather than team account.

Personally I think this is so the first team can get their hands on it. Monthly fees for the club to play games and train are about £7500pcm you'd think they'd get a loan from somewhere and build a complex of their own?

  8. Hi folks,

I am a coach at Edinburgh City 18s, and I believe under 18s(so we're being told) is the last year and there are no longer an under 19s setup going forward. I have a few lads who I feel are capable of perhaps stepping upto a very good Edinburgh City 20s side with a few of them in and out of their training of late. However there are some who would be better suited elsewhere to continue their development. We've got quite a big squad and I wouldn't want them to fall out of the game.

I am trying to arrange friendlies(midweek) between now and season end to get teams to have a look at the lads or alternatively arrange for someone to watch upcoming games to see if they like any the players and can maybe perhaps invite them along to train with your side.

I 'successfully' managed to get one lad upto the 20s side from last season with another having to get a job. Edinburgh City 20s side also took 4 lads from the 2005 age group up and they've been there ever since which is great for their development.

Any questions feel free to DM me.

    Thanks

  9. If you're based in or around Edinburgh and don't mind taking 2 keepers at under 18 level, I can see about getting you into the under 20s setup for next season or perhaps this season with a duel role? Got 2 very good keepers at my side, one a pro-youth drop out and the other qualifies for our under 17s and has helped us massively until I brought the other lad in.

I'm a keeper myself but I can't take both the team and keepers during sessions.

So happy to see Tweedmouth lose their “whipping boys” tag. A lot of hard work and patience off the pitch paying off bit by bit with a team of young, local boys starting to grow on the pitch. Hopefully it will continue in the new division 2 with a full season against other teams around their own level and they can hold their own around mid-table.

At the top, Haddington will be an awesome addition to the premier league. Playing like a top half team already so should put the cat among the pigeons next season

Thought Haddington where brilliant, movement off the ball very very good.

Perhaps lucky to go in at the break 1 up, but it was some strike by the boy although goalie looked pissed off he didn't get a hand to it.

  11. Looking to add a couple more quality players to the squad, ideally players with ambition to progress to the under 20 side.

Train opportunities happen more often than not as in constant dialogue with the 20s coach.

We train Tues-Thurs on Astro in the west of the city with games on a Saturday.

We've got a squad of 16, hoping to add 2 more due to boys working and various other concerts/gigs etc. The 2 players we add will be ready and willing to play.

    Thanks

  12. Looking for players for Edinburgh City 18s for the coming season.

Training is on Tues-Thurs and games on a Saturday afternoon.

The ultimate aim is to have some boys step upto the under 20 side and with a bit of ambition strive to become first team players. Various friendlies have been arranged over the coming weeks against some good sides.

    DM for contact details, thanks.
